(CW: Neil Gaiman mention.) It seems that GO 3 co-writer Michael Marshall Smith has just published an article on Substack (a conversation with horror writer Lisa Morton) in which his work on Good Omens was mentioned.
The full article does not directly relate to Good Omens, but Morton asked MMS at one point about writing for/condensing the finale, and this was his response:
It is now abundantly clear that we (the audience/fans) were deliberately misled about Neil's involvement with the finale in terms of what happened following his "removal" from the project after the allegations against him came out.
MMS states above that all of them (he, NG, and Peter Atkins) have known each other for 30 years, and we know they have worked together previously. So despite Neil being "firewalled" (a turn of phrase that frames NG as a victim of the situation and seems entirely dismissive given the circumstances that led to his removal in the first place) from the production, it is more than reasonable to believe that his interests and what he wanted to have happen were being represented by these writers.
I'm particularly galled by the sentence above, "It was seeking--against a strong headwind--closure for beloved characters." Because Aziraphale and Crowley are beloved queer characters, and yet three straight men set to work removing every scrap of visible affection from them, acting as if the chemistry and attraction between them never existed, and denying them any chance at meaningful communication.
I can also think of nothing that embodies stunted emotional development more than deciding that "Better to erase all of history and everyone in it than to talk about our feelings" is an optimal form of closure. The question then becomes, closure for whom, exactly? This is something MMS conveniently left out of the article above, as his comments sharply contradict the sentiments coming from so much of the fandom. So if it wasn't closure for the characters (I'd say not) and if it wasn't closure for the fans (which it sure as hell wasn't), then who was it for?
Because here we are all, two months later, still trying to reckon with what we were given. Still trying to work our way through confusion, disappointment, through an ocean of duplicitous double-talk and seeking--against a strong headwind--some scrap of understanding about both everything that we saw on screen and what we were told by those in the know.
Yet the one thing I understand more now is that this finale was never for us, or for Michael and David, or anyone who was so invested in Aziraphale and Crowley. And what closure we have been left to find will not ever come from the finale writers. It has to come from ourselves...

No one doing this should be allowed to call themselves a feminist.
The wealthy author escalated a social media spat that resulted in posting a photo from a 2023 event at the Institute of Economic Affairs in
Let's not beat around the bush: Children's author JK Rowling sexually harassed someone. In some jurisdictions, this would count as sexual abuse. JK Rowling has committed a sex crime against a woman and fell back on the old rape apologist standby of "she was asking for it".
I hope your nostalgia is worth it
Hi there 👋 I just wanted to echo what others have been saying and express how sorry I am that you've had such negative experiences within the fandom. To be honest, the grief and loneliness I've been feeling since the finale has been pretty hard to deal with. I too am disappointed at how little allowance there's been for differing opinions. It just sucks that not only is there this sense of loss at how things ended for our favorite characters, but we also have to contend with a loss of community. The whole thing has been rather alienating if I'm being honest.
I appreciate your posts. As unfortunate as it is that this is happening, at least I know I'm not alone. I hope that with time we'll be able to find joy and community within these online spaces again, and I sincerely hope that the love we all share for this series and these characters never diminishes. In the meantime, you're doing the right thing by caring for yourself and prioritizing your mental well-being.
Ohh, thank you so much for reaching out. 💚
I’m sorry to hear that you’ve also been struggling with loneliness and alienation. You certainly aren't alone in your grief. I wish I could offer comfort.
The fracturing of our community has been hard to bear. It hurts when the space that is meant to be your refuge becomes hostile. I like to think we can forge new ways forward, and I do think it will be possible for parts of the fandom. But I am also admittedly reluctant to be in community with certain folks from here on out. Sometimes you need to know when to bail.
I still love Good Omens and the relationships I've made in this community. I hope that we can all find joy in this story again, whatever shape that takes. And I hope that the loneliness doesn't last for you. 💚
I was recently challenged by the Meat-Cutes (members of my Discord server, Two Canned Meats) to draw ALL of the AU characters I've written for. Turns out it's a lot 🤣

Tony and Andy are from My Prince of Silver Snow, which will be my contribution this year to the Scribbling Vaguely Downwards advent calendar! It's the plot of a Hallmark movie, but klikandtuna-fied and with our ineffable idiots. Will post in December.

And EVERY LAST ONE of these twenty-eight characters will be appearing in a massive crossover fic, which I hope to debut in 2027 😄 So much to enjoy...and so much to look forward to, too. 💛💛💛

“So... We got the exploding diarrhea. Here's my advice for anyone who doesn't have it yet:
It's going to take a minute for the government to pin down where this is coming from, and then issue a recall, because the FDA has been gutted. But, I can tell you, without a shadow of a doubt : this is coming from Taylor Farms produce, and you will see them recalled.
You'll want to avoid all Taylor Farms produce in the grocery store. They supply McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut, about any fast food place you can think of.
Raspberries, watermelons, cilantro, and the veggies you're hearing about are not causing this many people to get sick. It's the shredded lettuce, specifically, that's the problem. But, you'll want to stay away from every type of produce this company puts out, because one strand of shredded lettuce is all it takes to contaminate bushels.
Taylor Farms is the source. Taco Bell proactively pulled their produce from their restaurants. You're going to see other fast food places doing this, and probably will see that before the government names a source. The FDA knows this, but they can't come out and tell us all until there's proof, which takes resources and research, which takes manpower, but the FDA has been cut by about 20-30%
During the Biden term, onions at McDonald's had ecoli. We knew this because DNA testing was done quickly and they were able to narrow it down to one place that caused the outbreak. And, it was traced back to Taylor Farms. This isn't going to be solved as quickly though.
When you get this, make a virtual appointment to your PCP - a "same day sick" appointment. Tell them someone in your family just tested for this and was positive and was prescribed Bactrim. If you go in person, they're probably going to make you poop in a cup and wait until results come back to prescribe.
You'll know when you get this. Trust me on all of this.
You'll want to stay hydrated because this parasite damages the lining of the small intestine. Your small intestine, in turn, secretes more water into the gut, and less nutrients and liquid are able to remain in the body. So no matter how much you shit, you're going to want to drink. A day of this leads to dehydration if you don't increase your fluid intake, and a few days will land you in the hospital.
If you have headaches, weakness, muscle cramps, dizziness, or an increase heart rate - hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Go to the ER for fluids if you can't drink enough.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk. Brought to you by America's 250 birthday celebrations, workforce reduction in the FDA and CDC, and viewers like you.
Please feel free to share this.
And, MAGA - don't blow up the comment section. I argued with y'all on COVID bc I was afraid y'all would die, but I really don't care if you get explosive diarrhea.
And no, ivermectin will not help this at all.”

Season 3 of Good Omens? What Season 3?
Aka, I wrote a 1k word oneshot of Aziraphale and Crowley in their South Downs cottage.
Let’s continue to keep them alive and well, and supplied with an eternity’s worth of tea and wine.

We're at the "JK Rowling is personally funding litigation to try and destroy AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL" stage of rabid UK terf brain.

Tldr Amnesty International, global human rights organisation, published a report called 'A growing threat: the anti-rights movement in the UK'. In it is detailed, amongst others, a whole bunch of transphobic groups and organisations, including Beira's Place, JK Rowling's trans exclusionary sexual violence support service. JK Rowling threw a shit fit and got Amnesty to take the report down by threatening libel. This was obviously not enough, because you can't appease a fascist, so now she's going to bankroll a bunch of lawsuits anyway through the JK Rowling Women's Fund.*
You can read an archived version of the report here, please save it and share it.
*Not so friendly reminder there is no way to engage in the wizard books without enabling this shit.
