Sakura leaned over the railing, wondering if her choice of attire was really appropriate considering how much of the back was missing. It was one of the few nice dresses she had left that would help her look like she belonged on the skybridge. No one walked into the fancy lounge in anything less.

From so high up she could see much more of the village and marveled at the build up. Nearly seven years later and it was unrecognizable from the dinky outpost she had grown up in. It was almost as if people were waiting with their inventions and their technologies for the world to be ready for peace.

Sometimes it felt like too much, especially on nights where she started off alone and was left by herself for too long. She wanted to go back to being sixteen and fighting for her life. Back then at least she felt like she was doing something important.

“You wore the dress.”

Sakura had felt his chakra signature the moment he stepped off the lift onto the floor, but hadn’t turned to give her position away until he called out to her on his own. She inhaled one last, free breath, and then turned slowly around.

“It is what you requested, is it not?” Sakura asked, tone cordial and civil. She crossed one hand in front of the other, keeping her posture perfect and poised.

“Of course,” Minato Namikaze sighed, looking blissfully pleased all over again as he took in the sight of her. “But you’d look amazing in anything, you know.”

“You might have mentioned that once before,” she replied, glancing sideways at the few others lazing about on sofas and at card tables. “But as long as you’re happy that’s all that matters.”

“I’m very happy,” he cheered, approaching her with his hands in the pockets of his suit trousers. He wore a fitted charcoal gray three piece suit with a floral embellished vest piece. He stopped just arm’s reach from where she stood at the railing and frowned down at something he saw. “You’re not wearing a necklace?”

“It wouldn’t suit the dress,” Sakura explained, touching the high collar. It was high and modest in the front, but once she turned all her angles and what seemed like miles of pale flesh were free to behold.  

“You’re not wearing any jewelry,” he remarked, brushing back the strands of hair that framed her face. He touched one of her naked earlobes and then drew back. “Was there a reason for that?”

Sakura flushed, setting her jaw as she decided to not be embarrassed in front of such a man. “I don’t have anything nice enough for the place you said you wanted to go. I’m a kunoichi and a medic, not a-not suited to something like this.”

But he didn’t seem upset. Instead he rocked back on his heels and rustled around in his pocket for something. His hand came out holding a long thin box he held out for her to watch as he popped it open. Inside was a thin strand of fine gold dotted with white diamonds that resembled stars in a sky. Sakura swallowed, feeling too light on her feet for a moment.

“That’s…” she couldn’t finish the words as he cheered, removing the gift from it’s box and moving to slip it over her head. It hug low and sparkled whenever she turned. On a black dress, she couldn’t help but think it looked like the night sky.

He pulled her hair out from inside the chain and kissed the side of her face with cheerful affection. “For you. I’m glad you didn’t wear anything, this way I get to spoil my girl. Next time I’ll get you something for your ears.”

The heels of Sakura’s boots echoed with her every step. The sound ricocheted down the passing dark alley and into the entryway of shops that had already closed for the night. Shoving her hands into her pockets, Sakura hunched her shoulders for warmth. The corner of her mouth was still throbbing from the blow she had taken to the face but she only angled her face away from the light as she passed a stranger. No need to draw attention.

At the crosswalk, Sakura came to a stop and waited for the walk signal to turn green. Normally she would just walk but with the bars and restaurants closing, the streets were once again filling with drivers. Not all of which were sober.

Nearby, a group of bar-goers staggered down the street, talking and laughing. They almost drowned out the sound of a door banging open behind her. But it was only a restaurant worker tossing the trash for the night. Her eyes returned to the stoplight as she waited for it to turn.

When it still showed red, she glanced down the street, intending to cross as soon as it was clear. Only before she could step off the curb, she heard her name: “Sakura?”

She followed the voice to the restaurant worker at the side of the building. Confused, she peered at the man but in the semi-darkness, she couldn’t make out anything more than his blond hair.

“It is you,” he said after a moment. “I thought I recognized your hair.”

Sakura blinked when he stepped closer. “Minato?” she asked.

The man looked so much like her high school best friend’s dad. But that couldn’t be possible. Minato was a politician. A mayor, if she recalled correctly. Which meant he couldn’t possibly be working here. But sure enough, it seemed it was possible for it was him.

Kumeeeee! Your artstyle is always so crisp and neat! And omg, the way you shade and color! Now that I’m trying again with art, I’m learning the hard way that coloring is a heck of a lot harder than the actual drawing process 😭 Seeing your art with its beautiful shades and colors makes me admire you all over again, because I remember years ago too when you started and your art just keeps getting better and better. Even back then, your art was amazing. Those KakaSaku and ShiSaku and that one giant MadaSaku artwork live rent free in my head~ Oo, oo, that Shisui x Sakura AU where it’s the yakuza setting comes to mind! …ahem, I’m getting side tracked here though.

I adore your little comics, your sense of humor, your execution with the scenes! And dayummm, being able to draw such odd, difficult angles and delivering! If I had to draw Darui lying down like that, I would be stuck on that moment alone for months 🤣 And I admire how his neck and collarbone came out, the lines seem so little and yet, they add so much to a person. The way you colored his hair is so great too, with the highlight and the little locks of hair! Looks so shiny yet soft, like I can imagine Sakura running her fingers through his hair and just enjoying the feel of it. Darui wouldn’t be able to look in her in the eye while she does that, fidgeting a bit but also not wanting to move because it feels nice, haha.

Omg, the last panel with Shisui! I’m learning it’s so friggin hard to make someone just… friggin tilt their head without the entire body/ head becoming a blob! Yours came out wonderfully and I love Shisui’s eyes 🤣 Really fits in with what he’s saying. And then the curve of his nose~ I’m trying to break free from those little “dot for nose” thing and it’s so hard. LOL I just realized I’m gushing and cooing at artwork differently now that I’m also tring to learn as well. But I can’t help ittttt! Your angles, the shades of color for the skin, the shadows for the Jounin sweaters, and the holsters on the vest! Such attention to detail.

Yes, Minato Namikaze and Sakura Haruno.

Sounds ridiculous, I know. But I can't help shipping this. MultiSaku shippers would understand why we like this. Others, not so much and they probably don't want to know. I'll summarise it for those people – Minato is basically a more calm, collected and handsome version of Naruto (some of his frames are just—damn) (but I honestly can't choose between them) and Sakura has special admiration reserved for people who are cool, confident and good looking, like Kakashi and Sasuke. Sakura also admired Naruto when he first met Sakura after the time skip, and she was impressed with his 'maturity'. Until he ruined the picture of course. Minato might not have made much impression on Sakura when he got resurrected, but she certainly reminded him a bit of his wife, Kushina. Isn't that enough of a reason for serial shippers like us?

I bet nobody saw this coming. Except for anon, who requested this ship some time ago. In my defense, I had lost all changes I made in this list not once but twice (and one time I had successfully completed it! Imagine my frustration) which caused me to give up and go into Neji-mode.
