Anime becoming mainstream has me questioning things lately 👀
hey !! i’m currently working on my master’s thesis, and my topic is basically about how mainstream popularity affects otaku/weeb culture and creativity.
like… now that anime is everywhere (streaming, tiktok edits, conventions getting bigger every year, etc.), do you think something changed in the culture?
when shows like Naruto or Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba become known by almost everyone, does the community lose part of what made it feel special/unique before? or does mainstream success actually help creativity grow?
