''I think I once thought I was about to have an opinion. A moment's reflection on my observations of the human race, and on my interactions with human beings, convinced me immediately of the utter, absolute futility of such an activity, ... ... well because because. earth is room 101.''

Poem From Last Year
"Shhhhhhh!!!", By Matt Insall January 1, 2014 I like the silence that is New Year's Day in the morning. I like that it's more silent than a dead world, if only due to a psychological effect conjured by my mind that measures and compares to a night of bleeding-ears raucous cacophony. I like when it's a bright, bright, bright sunny Sunday new day New Year's Day morning. I like that the world sleeps. I like that the world keeps to itself for that little while. I like that briefly, ever so briefly, I can truly think, I can really ponder, nothingness. I like the seven AM slow shower, long shower that is my routine delayed three hours that bright sunny new day New Year's Day after raucous loud cacophonous festival end of the old and prance out the new celebration of impending potential overcoming the multiple mini-tragedies that one might have had in the most recent 365 cycles of the blistering sun under sometimes over whelming omen clouds but ... I like the silence ... I like the silence that is ... I like the silence ... I like New Year's Day in the morning. I like the silence that is New Year's Day in the morning.
It's now 2015
Happy New Year!

Quoting from page 14 of ”An English Translation of the Message of the Quran:
”O you who believe! The Law of Equality is to be followed by you, in cases of murder: The free for the free, the slave for the slave, the woman for the woman. But if any remission is made by the brother of the slain, then grant any reasonable demand, and compensate him with handsome gratitude. This is a concession and a Mercy from your Lord. After this whoever exceeds the limits shall be in grave penalty.
And in the Law of Equality there is (saving of) life to you, (and less bloodshed among you), O you men of understanding; That you may restrain yourselves.”
I’m a bit confused by the inclusion of these two verses in a list of 164 quotes about jihad (c.f. For in fact these two verses seem merely to provide guidance for statutes pertaining to murder trials, and to explain the benefit of having orderly manners of dealing with heinous acts in a society. But it has been my understanding that many people in and outside Islam teach jihad as a war against nonbelievers.
If someone else thinks they can explain to me what these two verses have to do with war against infidels, please let me know.
If and when I can, I shall quote other verses listed and discuss their inclusion as pertaining to jihad.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leo_Buscaglia The story goes that Leo Buscaglia aka "Dr. Love", would get in an elevator full of people he didn't know. When the door closed he turned to face the others. He said, "Wouldn't it be grand if the elevator got stuck and we all got to know each other". I'm concerned like Leo Buscaglia about the rises in suicide rates brought on by loneliness. Dr. Buscaglia died in 2008 .
