“Are you expecting the reply to be anything less than death?”
"No, I never expected less. I'm simply curious. Love is a fickle thing that can flee at a moment's notice. I wonder... will you one day look upon my brother and realize that only familiarity is now between you. I believe Pierre deserves more than that if that is what is in store for him in his future."
“And yet, I’ve been told it can.”
“I simply don’t like the implication that since I happened to be born elsewhere and hence couldn’t be there, how I feel could never measure.”
"...Tell me, how far would you go to protect Pierre?"
“Mostly things about how, apparently, my love for him is no rival to yours.” Oh, he never did like being told someone else knew how he felt.
"While I am only his sister by blood, I did raise him as a son for many years." she explained, smiling gently at her brother's lover. "Thirty-two years to be exact but the fact that you you do love him warms my heart. Love can not be measured so simply as you well know, Dorian."

“Pierre’s sister, yes? I’ve heard about you.”
"Really now? What have you heard, Lord Pavus?"

‘ good. not knowing… hurts. how… did you find out who you are? ’
"Time might not heal all wounds but you gather a better understanding of yourself with it. It took many years of reflection and exploration."

"There are many who would condemn all Wardens for the actions done at Adamant. Exile the bastards, they say. Fortunately, I am not one of one of them. Many forget about Fifth Blight I suppose but I remember, Warden-Commander. You are certainly welcome in my presence."

"If you wish to speak to the Inquisitor, you must speak with me first."
(Like for a starter.)
"I was very young. At first I was afraid, and then I was not," he replied, setting the artefact he had been studying gently down on his desk. "When I lost my fear, the spirit spoke to me."
"To fear the unknown is natural, but it can be overcome with understanding. Most mages are not taught to understand. It is a shame, both for them and the spirits they encounter. Then their preconceptions warp the spirits into creatures they never wished to be." He issued a soft sigh. "May I ask, what drew you to being a spirit warrior?"
Josephine gave Solas a soft smile before setting down her papers on the desk and sat down into the chair in the corner of the room. It had been many years ago but she still remembered that day that changed everything she knew about magic and the Fade.
"When I was still a knight in the Order," she started off, "I had been assigned to track down an apostate who had been suspected of dabbling in blood magic and demon bindings. It took us a few days but we eventually caught up with him just outside of a little village called 'LeRaine'. There was a struggle, of course, and the demon he had summoned trapped all of us in the Fade."
"The warped spirit, one of Desire, had taken my brothers-in-arms one by one until I was the only one left. That... creature attempted to break me and give myself over for possession, promising that it would help me free my brother from the Circle. Sadly, I almost gave in until she came to me. My now patron spirit, Hope, had... wrapped her essence around me and shielded me. She gave me a... survivor's hope I suppose, one that urged me to fight back. Eventually the demon had been banished and awoke. I was the only one to live that day. Without Hope, I would have failed and died that day."
"When I returned back to the Spire, I became restless. I wanted to know more about the Fade beyond what the Chantry told us. Digging through the Circle library, I found nothing except a few mentionings of spirit healers. All of the references I found only told me that the Fade was nothing more than a land of demons. Of course, I knew better then. Something good was in the Fade and I was determined to learn more. I suppose I felt empty inside, wanting to meet that spirit again."
"It wasn't until my brother was free in the Hunterhorns that I learned more. Once I left the Order, I began researching more outside of Orlais and even delved into Tevinter and elven lore. It took time but I found evidence of mortals who weren't mages that could pierce the Veil through sheer will. Long ago, they had been hunted down like mages and slaughtered by the Chantry. I found a document that said that all Spirit Warriors were dangerous 'mages' and ordered them to be killed on sight. "
"Due to this, there was very little for me to work with. I attempted to use every method I could think. I believe I even used lyrium at one point but that did not work either. Three months of fasting and mediation. That's what it took to finally pierce the Veil. It may seem simple but it was... the most trying time in my life. When I was finally in the Fade, she was there, almost waiting for me."
"Oh and there I go, rambling on and on like an old woman." he said, pinching her the bridge of her nose. "I'm sorry, Solas. You must have important work to do."

‘ you left the templars, but the order sticks to your feet. ’
"Hm, that is quite true but it does not bother me anymore. I know who I am now."

“That wasn’t my main concern, trust me. I know how to fend for myself, you needn’t worry. I’m simply curious as to how my reputation precedes me.”
"Poor sweet child, you have no idea, do you? Be careful. Ignorance is dangerous and what you don't know will kill you."
❝ A simple observation on my part; even the simplest thinking creature is capable of that. I hope ————— but perhaps your eyes are at fault here, calling me a boy, not your w i t s. ❞
"Oh but I can see that you're a little boy at heart. I almost wanted to snuggle you in a blanket while you drooled in your sleep. It's so precious how you made little spirit friends, dear."
