Fantasy and light
Oh, what a sight!
Imaginations ignite
Creativity takes flight.
Such wonder and delight
Wandering like nomads
Along designated paths
All through the night.

Bubbles of another kind
bubbles on my mind
Bubbles in here
bubbles everywhere.
Bubbles in warm light
bubbles in cool
Am I becoming
a bubbling fool?
Movement in the woods,
How nice...
So much movement
I can’t keep still,
The trees can’t keep still,
My camera can’t keep still.
Festival of Lights
Gold, amber, white
Lights shining bright
On an Advent night
First try
Take a look,
Second look.
Is it good?
Time will tell...
Beached, aground,
Ashore, Abandoned,
Left behind,
Usefulness over.
Only purpose
Stage for scenic photographs.
Summer Days
Summer!
Time to shed
Layers of clothes
Venture outdoors
For activities
That were not possible
Just three months ago.
Fishing, Swimming,
Sunbathing,
Hanging in the park
Being among the flowers
Drinking in their heady perfume.
The Fourth
Celebrate!
Let us celebrate
The freedoms
We hold so dear.
Let the parades
March!
Let the fireworks
Shower!
Let the bar-b-cues
Sizzle!
Celebrating
Our 240th birthday.
Happy Birthday
America!
Winter Rainy Days
Wild winds, fierce rains
Like the first day of forty.
Sleeting rain, blustery and cold
Coming down
In never ending sheets,
Thundering
On the asphalted streets.
Waves crashing,
Sodden soil,
Resulting in puddles.
When suddenly, it all ends
Allowing walks in the drizzle and mist.
Snowstorm
Snowstorm
Ferocious and intense.
Allow for slowing down,
For meditation,
For introspect.
A time, out of time.
Away from the hustle
And the bustle.
All outdoor
Covered in a mantle of white;
Everyone leaving their mark-
A trail of where they have been;
A trail made in silence,
As the white blankets all sound.
Then, as the precipitation ceases,
Activity escalates again-
Shovels begin clearing paths,
And the sun shines once more.
Colorful World
What is the benefit
Of a colorful world?
Being able to discern
A kaleidoscope of colors
At least 256, or
Maybe over a million.
Color distracts,
Keep our eyes
Focused on the inane,
The insignificant.
Almost never on the
Meaningful, the important.
But, aah, when the
Two collide...
It can only be called...
Sublime.
Black and White
What would it be like
If we saw the world
In black and white?
No color at all,
Everything shades of grey.
We would not be
Distracted by color
But instead
Use textures to play.
Textures and tones
Would become the norm
And our perception
Would be transformed.
The things that held
Your interest before
May become trivial
And you noticing more.
Oh, to have a taste
Of that black and white world
Where only tones and textures
Forever swirl.
Vibrant Colors of Fall
Vibrant colors of fall,
How we miss thee.
The yellows, golds, oranges and reds;
Blend together harmoniously.
But alas this show of nature
Is fleeting in its display.
For soon the winds of winter
Will blow them all away.
Then the cathedral
Framed by majestic trees
Become columned,
Rock-strewn alleys.
I will miss you fall
When you are finally gone,
For you provide perfect weather
From dawn to dawn.
Sleepless City
There is so much to behold
In the city that never sleeps.
The building lights like
Far away twinkling stars
Marching across the cityscape.
Closer at hand, the street lights
Like mini suns
Shine down on pedestrians,
Motorists and pavement alike.
Elements that come together
And create a tapestry
Interwoven with our lives
Lazy Days of Summer
Lazy days of Summer
Time to reflect
To take it slow
Notice things we
Take for granted everyday.
Things we hurry and scurry
By on our way thru life.
The lazy days of Summer
Exploring the world
In our backyards,
And our front yards
Savoring the minutia
In our surroundings
thru special eyes.
Allow the lazy days of summer to
Remind us of childhood days
Enjoying our innocence
Delighting in the sounds
Of chirping birds.
Spending the afternoon
Watching the late summer rain
Beat against the window pane.
Wishing we could go out to play
And feel its moisture
Upon closed eyelids.
Ahhh, those long forgotten
Lazy Days of summer.
