âi wonât let them hurt you.â (Ciaran)
Iorveth gave the Aen Seidhe before him a frown. No, he did not expect everyone of this continent know him. What surprised him though was he somewhat recognised this one, yet he could not pin-point when or where he met the individual before. And what did this one just said?
Making a few disgruntle noise from the back of his throat, he turned his attention to the arrow embedded in the giant body of a wolf nearby. In one fluid motion, he pulled the weapon out and placed it back to his quiver.
"Indeed?" He drawled.
Ciaran smiled slightly under his breath, proud of himself as a loyal second to Iorveth. The obvious fact was that he was not going to let any harm come to his commander. He was his right hand and one of his most loyal and best warriors.
"And did you have any doubts?" Ciaran asked, tucking his bow and arrows into his own quiver.
Iorveth did not say anything more. He removed the rest of the arrows from the dead beast and took a step back. Without looking at the other elf, he turned and walked away while making orders to the others hidden in the denser part of the woods. They needed to leave before dh'oine got here. This area was too close to their trade route. Funny how these wolves showed up.
"Make haste!" He called out.
Ciaran nodded, slightly, and as he gathered the last arrow he gave the order to the squad to return to camp and set off with his comrades-in-arms himself. They had to quickly gather everything from the camp and move to safer ground where the dh'oine had no chance of finding them, although few people would enter a forest full of Scoia'tael.
Fortunately, they had no problem with that, although Ciaran knew that Iorveth was covering the rear but would surely still figure out the situation. Fortunately, no one seemed to be chasing or following them. When Iorveth joined them, Ciaran approached him.
"And how is the situation? No one is following us?"
The Scoiaâtael leaderâs eye returned to the individual near him once again. It was strange, he really did not remember this one. Yet he was speaking to him in such a familiarity, he started having some doubt of his own memory. People who followed him for longer period of time knew he wasnât a fan of talking. Heâd much prefer observation. Watch and learn. There were times one could pick up so many subtilties when they donât open their mouth. Why was this one...?
The wind blew. The trees stirred. His ears twitched. Something, and someone was approaching. He turned his attention away from the Aen Seidhe and listened to the quiet whispers drifting through the branches.Â
âNekkers!â Warned Iorveth to the others in the hush voice:Â âArms at the ready.â
âSorry, but who are you?â (Aevon)
Iorveth had to bit the edge of lip really hard to stop himself from cursing. An Aen Seidhe girl? In the middle of the wood? How in the continent did she get there alone and where in the hells of her elders? Didn't she realise she just narrowly avoid being slaughter by a hag?
"You should go." He drawled.
"Do I really have to?" Aevon replied quietly, winking at the older elf. She just wanted to be able to see the garden of Eldan and Cymoril, to see some of the last Roses of Remembrance. Perhaps this Aen Seidhe could show her the way?
"I'm sorry, but I just wanted to see the garden of the eternal lovers and the roses blooming there," Little Aen Elle added, looking at the man shyly. "Can you lead me?"
Lead? He wasn't a babysitter. It had been a long time since he was last alone with anything that was under the age of ten. His expression twitched and he turned to head towards the hawkers at the distance. Once this transaction is done, he would return to the deeper part of woods. Someone else could deal with this youngling.
"SoâŠWill you lead me?" Aevon asked quietly, hoping that Aen Seidhe would agree, because she really wanted to see the Rose of Remembrance and the marble statue of eternal lovers, but her interlocutor was a particularly stubborn Seidhe, because he didn't seem to want to help her. She watched him look hawkers, and wondered what the other was about to do or answer. "âŠYou mean yes or no?"
âDo I look like a babysitter to you?â Iorveth growled in a little frustration. Any Aen Sidhe would have picked up the hint by now. But he supposed this one was too young to excel at subtle languages:Â âI donât even know why in the hell you are doing here alone. But if you value your life, stop looking at everything in such a sentimentality and prepare to leave. Surely your parents have told you dwelling upon the woods on your own is dangerous.â
//Iorveth is not a easy individual to get along. Just saying.
It was a miracle he actually fine around Saskia.
