This man NEEDS that emotional connection first. Needs to know who you are, how your lives will meld together. If anything, being in the military has confirmed this for him. He's gone for months at a time, he needs to be confident in his relationship, needs to know this will outlast the distance and uncertainty.

But he's still a wildly intimate man. He practically pulls you into his lap when you two are on the couch. Even if you're just reading a book, he'll find a reason to be in the same room. The longer y'all date, the more comfortable he gets. Nowadays, he'll just flop right on top of you, burying his head into the crook of your neck. Won't say a damn word either.
