Ah plants. Pinwheel plant in full bloom
The other day I was watching Lady Bird and I thought Odeya Rush, she played the character Jenna in the movie* would make a perfect Jude.
Thoughts?
Major Cardan Greenbriar vibes!!!

Netflix Messiah Thoughts Part 1*Spoilers*
The number #1 thing that surprised me was how much I wanted him to be the Messiah.Â
Mehdi Dehbi deserves an award
There were moments when I could feel the weight of responsibility on Al-Masihâs shoulder and mentally ill or not I truly believe he believes heâs a messenger of God
The speech about borders actually made me tear up.Â
Also, the one about what people choose to worship
And goodness
Honestly, a lot of the speeches had me shook
I absolutely knew three things had to happen: walking on water, raising someone from the dead, and natural disasters.Â
Honestly, I donât really like Eva. I mean wonderful acting and I felt for her but personality wise we would rub each other the wrong way.Â
I really wanted to call her out on her lecture about the truth because fuck if the government itself isnât made up of criminals. Also, I wanted to turn it back on her in that interrogation room and Iâm glad that he did.Â
I get the anger at her dad but she got so little background story it just made her seem cold and harsh to a man who was losing his sense of self. A person can grow up to have regrets okay. And heâs trying at least.Â
I was embarrassed by the reaction of a lot of people in the US
What was more embarrassing was how accurate it is.Â
Emily Kinney was amazing and I cried for her
At the same time I knew what would happen.Â
Iâm not religious but I grew up religious and I knew that going to God because you want something isnât going to really end well.Â
That call out to C.S Lewis though
I stan Will Mathers
more to comeÂ
I just LOVE this!
âToday you sit in the seat of the fortunate. Just remember what put you there. Fate. What is fate⊠But the hand of God.â Al-Masih, MESSIAH
Gone for him.
KINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Hozier had time today huh
i saw him in concert last week, and he literally said something along the lines of âthese governments arenât subtle with their actions. so i say: hell to subtle art. iâll be as blatant as i please.â itâs nice to see heâs just always like that lmao.
Art by Carlos Alberto MartĂnez
Jude Duarte, from The Cruel Prince and The Wicked King. This is what I imagine Cardan sees when he closes his eyes and pictures Judeâs face. (I seriously doubt he fantasizes about her elaborate horned hairstyle).
Jude was harder to draw than Cardan. This was partly because the story is told from her point of view. We know sheâs brave, clever and tough, but we donât see her from the outside. However, thereâs a short story added to the end of The Cruel Prince thatâs from Kaye Fierchâs POV, which was helpful. Kaye describes Jude as a girl of medium height with soft features and reddish-brown hair, and âthe solid grace of someone used to living in her bodyâ. OK then. Itâs tough to strike a balance between softness and strength, but this is what I came up with.
todayâs fresh take
I mean is not innacurateÂ
Accurate af
random judexcardan headcanons
cardan, much like jude, has a very light sleep
he wakes up at the smallest of movements from jude
and, at times, she feels him stir in the middle of the day
even with curtains fully drawn and the room etched in darkness and the warm body next to him-
cardanâs breathing changes
just with the flutter of a birdâs wings outside their window
and jude knows, she feels him wake, and thatâs when she, herself, wakes, too
âCardan.â
he turns to her, pulls her closer, and does not respond
he tucks her into him, his chin on top of her head, his arms snaking around her
theyâve learned to read each other by now
silence from him means he does not wish to speak of whatever it is troubling himÂ
still
jude watches his bare chest
feels the way his heart slows beneath her hand at her closeness
âCardan,â she says again, softer this time, because her heart is filled with strange anxiousness, a sort of hopelessness, at seeing him like this
her smirky, snarky husband
now clinging to her
as if for dear life
âSleep, Jude.â His tone is soft, layered with sleep
she feels his breath atop her head
âIt is almost twilight,â she mumbles. âWill you look at me?â
he finds it a strange request, but does nonetheless
in the darkness, judeâs eyes seem ablaze
he watches her as she watches him
analysing
he wonders what she sees
at last, she whispers, quite sadly, âYouâve had dreams.â
silence, for he canât lie
âDo you wish to speak of them?â
âNo.â
Jude nods, sighing softly. âIt hurts to see you like this,â she admits. âAnd knowing I can do nothing to make it better.â
âYou do,â he says, closing his eyes, nuzzling his face closer. âMy Jude, my wife.â
Judeâs smile suddenly grows, her eyes fluttering shut as their noses touch. âYou insist on calling me that.â
âIs that not what you are?â
âYouâre distracting me. Avoiding this conversation.â
Cardan sighs, at last pulling away
but jude touches his arm, so gently, and says, âI thought you wanted me to let go of my shield. I did. Why donât you drop yours?â
Cardan looks at her, sadness in his eyes
and the truth is - he wants to
but at the end of the day, some things just do not have an explanation
âYou have been tense,â she murmurs, sitting up on the bed. âNervous. Not sleeping. Sometimes I catch you looking at me as if youâre wondering if something is wrong-â
the orange tint of the skies, so strong in the twilight hour, manages to slip through the windows, and beneath the dark curtains. The breeze moves the fabric, making it sway, and the orange glint catches Judeâs eye for a moment, that blazing brown, and, for that second, as cardan looks at her, in that single moment-
he stops
starts
jude blinks. âWhat?â
he freezes, moving slowly into a sitting position, as she is
staring
and staring
and staring
âJude,â he breathes
jude touches her face, her neck, her face growing worried. âWhat is it?â
he blinks then, cocking his head to the side
watching her
the glint he caught in her eye
that strange light-
âCardan,â jude insists
his eyes travel down her body, the thin nightgown
the glow of her skin
down, and down - to her middle
âWhat are you looking at?â she breathes
he pauses, and his eyes meet hers
and then:Â âDo you have news?â
just that
Do you have news?
jude swallows hard, watching him with a mixture of bafflement and guilt
but there is not a whiff of anger or frustration in him
just-
a hint of surprise
without saying a word, he touches her leg behind her knee, and pulls her body to him
judeâs breath hitches in surprise, her body half laying down, her legs on either side of his waist
and as cardanâs eyes skim every inch and corner of her-
she knows that he knows
âI was going to tell you.â
âWhen?â
jude pauses, heart beating out of her chest, her mouth opening but her words failing her, always failing her
cardan leans over her, and judeâs breath comes out in shaky puffs
sheâs smiling
cardan nears her, touches his nose to her jawline
he pauses, eyes closed, and takes a breath. slowly, he whispers, âI am not sure how I was able to miss it.â
jude bites her lip, fascinated with his behaviour
the way that he picked it up
the smallest, non-existing sign-
and he got it
âOf course,â he murmurs, pulling back
âI was going to tell you,â she murmurs again. âTomorrow.â
âWhy tomorrow?â
jude pauses, shrugging, âI⊠wanted to go to the human world. Be checked by a do- a healer. A human healer. Just to⊠just to be sure.â
cardan eyes her, moonlight dancing in his eyes. âBe sure, Jude,â he leans over her, touching his lips to her nose. âBe sure, it is our child you are carrying.â
jude breathes out, touching his cheeks. âHow did you-?â
âSo many signs,â he says, sighing. Shaking his head. âI should have known sooner. Your eyes, the way your breathing has changed. Your scent-â
âYou can pick up those things,â she murmurs. Itâs not a question - more like fact of wonder
he nods, touching her cheeks. âIt all makes sense now.â
âYour anxiousness,â she completes, watching his eyes. âYou knew before you knew. Even before I, myself, knew.â
cardan stays silent, watching her face. âIt is soon.â
jude blinks. âFor whom?â
cardan touches her bottom lip with the tip of his thumb. âFor you, is it not? I heard⊠well, it came in conversation with oldest sister once, and she said humans have children when they are much older. I must inquire about your happiness, then. Did you expectâŠâ thereâs a fear to him now, just under the surface. âDid you expect it to happen so soon?â
âNo,â she breathes, holding his hand to her cheek. âNot so soon. But I am not⊠sad. Nor was I angry or frightened when I discovered it yesterday. Surprised, yes. But-â Jude pauses. âIf it makes you happyâŠâ
Cardan smiles then, touching his nose to hers, âIf it makes you happyâŠâ
she smiles as his lips touch hers, âYes,â she murmurs. âYes, it makes me happy.â

Things to Consider When Writing About Royalty
How is the throne inherited? How strict are the traditions concerning transfers of power? How is the order of succession determined? Can commoners become royalty?
How are heirs trained?
How much, if at all, are marriages for power/political ties favored over marriages for love? How common are arranged marriages
What are the biggest threats to their position?
How good is there relationship with their subjects?Â
What is their preferred method of interacting with their subjects? Do they prefer to interact with them directly or indirectly?
How long has the monarchy been in power? How did it originally gain that power?
What special etiquette is required when dealing with royalty? How strict is it?
How are princes and/or princesses that arenât first in line for the throne handled? Are they given special responsibilities in the hopes of discouraging resentment?
How do they deal with assassination attempts?
How do they spend their wealth? Why do they prioritize certain aspects of their kingdomâs well being over others?
Would they rather inspire love or fear in their subjects?
some favorite quotes from little weirds by jenny slate:
I have wondered on many occasions if any confidence I have is just a weird side effect of foolishness and I live under the weight of so much embarrassment, Iâm surprised the top of my head isnât flat.
I am so delicate, so delicate that I am the one the ghosts know not to spook.
My vulnerability is natural and permissible and beautiful to me, and it should remind you of your responsibility to behave like a friend to me and the world.
But what am I supposed to do with all of the parts of my heart that are only there to be given?
When people get a glimpse of me Iâd like them to feel like it is a good omen. I want to have a face with dirt on it. I want to jump on people!
I have always known that I would die for love. I think I am dying while or because of waiting for it. I cannot bear how it feels like a surging throng of beats and yells and gasps inside of my small form.
Is he stuck walking up a staircase for all eternity, stepping with each step on the words that he sent with all his heart, crushing them under his own invisible foot, feeling his real heart break? Did he choose love and it didnât take, and now is he stuck in the world without the love, forever?
My physical heart feels so exposed, so shallowly planted. It feels like it is in my mouth.
I am a lovely woman. Who will come into my kitchen and be hungry for me?
Somebody always needs to go first. I know this. I go first.
