I know you probably won't read this but I still wanted to write this in case you one day come back.
First off, i hope you're doing better, that life is easier on you.
Secondly, your stories are really extraordinary. I started reading Heirs of the Sun on AO3 because I was looking for more Elorcan that I had not read yet. You gave so much more than Elorcan. The introduction to all the new characters that are so brilliantly written, the continuation of a world which you made seem as if it was canon, that that's just how the lives of all these characters were supposed to continue after KoA. You sucked me right into your storyline. Then came my obsession for Hollin and Evangeline and for The Archer. The Prey. And lastly Suns and Stars. What a masterpiece I fell in love 9999999 times. Just *chefs kiss*. It really really really is the best. I love every single one of your sec gen!!! even if it was sometimes a task to remember who was who again :)))
Then I saw you were on tumblr too and I couldn't be more ecstatic!! Now I only have to find out how I can read all the hc chronologically or not. Either way I'm reading everything cause girlllllll you got me hooked on this world of yours!!!
I just wanted to tell you, you're really really talented. And even if you decide to never come back and to never write again, I'll be grateful for everything you had the courage to write. You should be really proud of what you've accomplished!
Anyways, new fan here!! Big fan!!
I wish you the best! Hope you're taking care of yourself!!
Hello, friend!
It's been a really, really long time, and I begin by apologizing for leaving your lovely ask unanswered for so long. Life and circumstance led me to really neglect this account, and though I really loved sharing content and chatting with the fandoms, it just came a time where it wasn't possible for me to focus on posting anymore (and that's on Adulting™ ugh).
But even though I rarely come here anymore, because life and work and everything else in between, I still couldn't leave you without an answer.
I did read your message, lovely. I read it ten times, then I read it twenty times all over again. It really did warm my heart and made me smile, so I thank you for taking the time to leave me such wonderful words.
Writing has always been a safe haven, and stumbling onto Tumblr and all the amazing people I had the genuine joy of talking to about our favourite characters and books and tvshows was such a welcomed escape at the time. It truly made some weeks bearable - to log on and see the memes and the posts and the reblogs and the comments around our favourite books. I'm so, so grateful to have gotten those moments here, and to have had such kind people read these stories.
I've been focusing a lot on my own writing nowadays, but I truly do miss writing fanfic, especially since I've come across new series and books to obsess over. My Ao3 has been sadly neglected too, and though I don't believe I'll ever return to posting on Tumblr, I might just make the effort to spill some creativity on Ao3 one of these days.
This to tell you thank you again. There's like a LOT to get through on my masterlist, so it means the world to me that you've not only read my writing, but also that you took the time out of your day to tell me you enjoyed it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I'll visit some time soon, but in the meantime, thank you to everyone who's ever read or been lovely enough to reblog/comment on these stories. I've laughed so much over those last few years on here, and I've found so much comfort in your praise. Thank you for encouraging me to keep posting. Thank you for giving this writer a bit more confidence, so much so, that she now puts all her energy into writing her own books. I'm sorry for any unanswered asks, messages or reblogs. Know that I appreciate and remember all your love. Maybe I'll carry on this journey on Ao3, maybe I'll keep chasing after shiny new ideas that come to me without ever sticking to one. Either way, thank you for your time ❤️.
I do, nonnie, but I just keep it to myself! Every once in a while I'll take a sneak peek of my notifications on here, even though I don't post anymore. Hope you're having a lovely day!
has a comment someone left on a fic of yours ever made you laugh out loud?

if you got a computer virus that deleted all your fics but had just enough time to save one before they were wiped out, which fic would you pick and why?
the “you got kudos“ e-mail is usually much appreciated, but is there a fic you wish you didn’t get these e-mails for? if so, which one and why?
what word do you keep using like it’s going out of style?

what headcanon will you keep implementing in your fics, even if canon ends up contradicting it?

I've had soc brain rot recently so I've been checking the tags religiously and you have no idea at all how happy I was to see you in there again with your beautiful writing! I literally squealed when I saw you'd posted some kanej. Welcome back❤️

"Lizabeta, get in here."
Jesper had already spat his coffee twice, and it was close to being a third when he heard an echo coming from the living room that sounded a lot like, "Na, na, na, na!"
Inej, to her credit, was an absolute star at keeping herself controlled
usually
now, she smacked Jesper in the arm, her own face transformed in a puddle of barely-contained tears and laughter lines
"Stop," Inej mouthed
"Lizabeta," they heard from the corridor. "I'm not asking you twice. Stop pretending you don't hear me."
pit-pat-pit-pat all over the living room
in the kitchen, Jesper spat his coffee into his cup again, earning him a screeching howl from Inej, who doubled over in laughter
"Oh, look who it is!" Jesper opened his arms the moment the toddler crossed the kitchen, her father's very - very - expensive watch in her dangerous hands. "Brought us a gift?"
Jesper went to catch her but Liza quickly deflected him with a sass, "Naaa!"
Inej was shaking with laughter
Kaz came into view, his hair a mess, and his tie undone
"Oh, this is too good," Jesper said as he looked over at his friend. "Kaz Brekker, defeated by: toddler."
Kaz's dark circles said enough
"Ma!" Little Liza said, as she showed her newly acquired shiny thing, waving it in front of her mother's face. "Ma!"
"Oh," Inej sucked in her laughter, sniffing slightly as she wiped her tears. "Sweetheart, that's so..." she laughed harder as Kaz's face came into view. "Gosh, I'm sorry."
Liza shrieked as her father grabbed her and lifted her off the ground
and while her own little laugh send Jesper into another row with his coffee, both him and Inej acting like complete idiots, slapping the table and each other with the intensity of their humour, Kaz only looked on with gritted teeth
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" Liza shrieked. "AHHHHHHH."
"Now, drop it." Her father held out a hand as he settled Liza against his hip. "Give it to me."
Liza's laughing face disappeared
she outright glared
"Oh my God," Jesper suddenly said, his laughter dying too, tears still in his eyes. "She has the exact same face."
"You've seen nothing," Inej said. "When she doesn't want to sleep, she'll just stare at your soul. She scrunches her nose, too, and gets the same wrinkles as he does."
"That's so creepy."
"Shut up," Kaz snarled at Jesper. "You're not helping."
Kaz's precious watch went right into the toddler's mouth. "SHit," Kaz stuttered, carefully taking the watch from her. "Not food. Not food."
Liza's face transformed
"Oh, no," Kaz closed his eyes.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" she cried.
Jesper placed a hand over his mouth. "Here, I have keys."
"She won't buy it," Inej snorted a laugh
still, bless him, Jesper did try
but no amount of cookies, keys, made-up jingles, claps, or funny faces, settled her down
"Will you behave?" Kaz asked her
Liza sent him a seething look
"I'm asking you to behave," Kaz continued
she waved her little fists around, her face filled with tears
"Think she's trying to throw hands with you," Jesper said. "She puts up a good fight." Jesper smirked. "Hey, Liza, we have to work on your technique first, darling. Hit the jaw first, not the cheek!"
"I will kick you out," Kaz threatened Jesper.
Jes held up his hands in surrender, but smirked as Inej extended her arms to her daughter. "See what she does."
Liza only screamed harder as her father tried to give her to her mother
"I don't have shiny things," Inej explained to Jesper. "Get m
"The girl knows how to move up in this life, we have to appreciate that."
Kaz sighed softly, then gently wrapped her up in his arms, letting her have her meltdown with her chin on his shoulder
"There," he said, pacing through the house, ignoring the two laughing idiots
Inej watched after him, and after her laughter died down, her eyes were shining with happiness and love
once Kaz was out of sight, Jes murmured to her, "Isn't it frightening how fast he adjusted to this role?"
"It's beautiful, actually," Inej said, sipping her tea. "He doesn't take his eyes off her."
Jesper breathed a soft laugh into his hand. "I can imagine."
"There, there, there..." came his voice again, as Kaz rounded the corner and came into the kitchen again
and while Liza kept muttering baby nonsense against his shoulder, her little arms had stopped their fight for the day
"I'll get you your very own watch someday," Kaz was saying to her. "One gold, another silver." He considered this. "Well, I'll get you those the moment you stop putting everything in your mouth."
"Mother hen," said Jesper
Kaz gave him a look, but there was something calm about his face as his daughter slowly calmed down
"Never did I think that Kaz Brekker would have a boss," Jes said. "And here we are."
Inej grinned. "Here we are."
Kaz snorted a laugh
he was looking at Inej, his eyes locking with hers. "Here we are," he said softly.
for the nonnie that said that she misses aidan: me too, girl, me too... real life sometimes just sucks you into it lol
also, bruna is the bestest of friends and deserves all the credit for all the content we already have (which is A LOT) until she gifts us with some new content <3

hi!! i have no idea if you still take headcanons, but if you do, someone once said that kaz would hate to but would be very good at flirting when he has to for a job. and i just wondered if you could maybe write something about the crows's reaction to seeing him being a good flirt for the first time?? tysm!!
hello, hello, nonnie!
i took this headcanon right out of the messy depths of my fangirl brain, so please excuse the structure, i've forgotten how to post on here, it's been a while, so bear with me pls 🥺 hope you like it!!

Clara Van Bastien had the sixth sense of a small turtle
so nobody could really blame her when she didn't see it him coming quick enough
bless her heart, the girl was barely let out of her house
and it was no surprise to find she snuck out of that mansion, missing a fur or two, vulnerable to the wind, vulnerable to Ketterdam
if you only had met her once, you might think her simple of mind and vain of heart
but, truly, she was just a girl
too oblivious for the world
too oblivious of how her fortune came to be
and the things her father had done to secure it
naive as she was sheltered, clara sat in that dark corner of some bar that, by the way, looked nothing like the panflet, drinking something foul that had never touched her mouth before, all alone, waiting for something... incredible, to happen
and that thing came to her in the form of a beautiful mouth, shaped like an angel's and angled like a knife
"Hello," said that mouth
and clara might have known, if she were more worldly, if her maids had let her know what kind of place she lived, and what kind of family she had been born into, that he might have become the price of her newly found freedom
"Hello," she responded, no fear
"May I sit?" He asked, no shame
"Perhaps," she said, with hesitation. "What is your name?"
"That will cost you," he said, with ponderation
the tip of his hat rose in greeting
black eyes, crows eyes, followed her face
"What?" She murmured. "What will it cost me to know your name?"
"A secret. Maybe two."
she smiled, because of course she did
and he felt the urge to run
poor, poor soul
someone should have taught her not to speak with strangers
but he had to take this chance
lest Van Bastien escaped on a boat without kaz brekker destroying what little was left of him
***previously***
"So how do we take him?" Asked Wylan, sending a look around the room
"The only thing we know about Van Bastien is that he is a sneaky little rat bastard," Jes muttered as he leaned against the far wall. "There are not many leads at all."
"No," confirmed Inej, who had been eyeing the map of the city with flaming eyes. "I lost him once." Admitting such a thing was harder than she expected. "He knows, the bastard. He knows how to escape. I thought he'd be sneaking the artifacts out of his house by the cover of night, but he managed to somehow get them on a boat without my eyes finding him."
"You sure they're at his house?" Jesper asked her
"Why else would he have five guards placed there at all times?"
"Maybe he's hiding something else," Wylan suggested, distractedly crumpling an old flyer in his hand. "Something more valuable to him."
"Improbable."
"But not impossible," Kaz chimed in
Inej looked his way, watching as a gloved finger traced his bottom lip in quiet thought
"So are we at a dead end?" Wylan asked
"Who can we bribe?" Kaz asked Inej
but she didn't answer
she was looking straight at Wylan's hands, the crumbled flyer
she'd caught sight of something interesting there - a piano
"Let me see that," she said, and as she unravelled that crumpled ball, Inej's eyes lit up suddenly
Kaz hid a small smile
"He has a daughter," Inej said suddenly
Jesper raised a brow. "How do you know that?" And when Inej looked up at him, Jesper simply said, "Right. You're Inej Ghafa."
"What are you suggesting?" Wylan asked, a little concerned
"She's older than you, but this girl has been sheltered her entire, rich life. She wants out."
"You don't say," Kaz mused
"She likes music," Inej continued. "When I spied on her father, the girl was always at the piano. He doesn't allow her to persue that path, however."
"Oh, so sad." Jesper touched a hand to his chest.
"I don't get it," Wylan said
"Wait," Kaz reprimanded
Inej lifted the flyer to Wylan's eyes, and said: "We make her come out."
"And then?" Jes pushed
"And then," Inej said, "we poke her a little. Enough to make her spill."
"Blood?" Jesper made a face
Inej sent him The Look. "Secrets, Jesper."
"Oh, good."
"How will we make her come out?" Wylan asked. "Didn't you say she was sheltered? Well, isn't she watched 24/7?"
Inej smiled. "I'll plant the idea in her mind." She waved the flyer around. "Maybe some spring breeze might bring something up to her window this afternoon."
"You're wicked, Wraith," Jesper laughed. "So? Who's going to take the job?"
Inej's eyes turned to Kaz
"No way," Jesper kept laughing. "Brekker? He'll scare her away!"
"Not to be a party pooper, but we're assuming that she'll come out," Wylan said. "Why not just kidnap her?"
silence
Wylan paused. "I'm joking?"
"Jeez," Jesper said. "From now on, I want to supervise yours and Kaz's outings."
"I have a hunch she'll be naive enough to give in and go by her own two feet," Inej muttered. "It's still just a hunch, though."
"It'll work," Kaz grumbled
"Well, then," Inej smacked the flyer into his chest. "Good luck."
"Why don't you go?" Kaz frowned
Inej lifted a brow. "You're the charmer."
Jesper gave out a hoarse laugh; even Wy let out a little smile at that. "Hilarious," Jesper said
Kaz held on to her gaze, eyes filled with questions
Inej ignored the other two, giving Kaz a small, amused smile. "You charmed me, didn't you?"
"Barely." He then gave in, showing her the small curve of his mouth
"Aw, you two," Jesper said. "No, but, seriously. I want to be there. I want to see Kaz flirt."
"Careful," Inej said gently to Kaz, as if they were the only people in the room. "She's still just a naive girl. An innocent. Make her spill, but watch out for her. This is still Ketterdam."
"No one will go near her but I," Kaz promised
Inej nodded in thanks, then patted his shoulder. "We'll be hidden, and follow you from there."
"And then?" Wylan asked.
"I'll have the Wraith ready," Inej mumbled. "No one gets near that boat." Out of fear, of course. "We'll hide the artifacts there before Van Bastien tries to ship them off to Ravka."
"Are they that valuable?" Wylan asked
"Yes," Inej said. "But valuable or not, they still belong to the Shu. They were wrongfully taken when Ravka invaded, and I will not permit them to be sold to anyone else."
"Well," Jesper patted Kaz in the back. "At least I'll get a laugh out of you."
Kaz watched him. "And maybe I'll get a knife in and out of you."
Jesper slowly removed his hand. "Nice talk."
***present***
"You never heard of me, then."
"No," Clara repeated, watching the man with the strange name from across the table. "Should I have?"
"Yes."
well - arrogant and mysterious
a dangerous combination, she thought
but she also couldn't remember the last time she had smiled
"I'm sorry, then," Clara muttered. "What do you do?"
Kaz flicked invisible dust off the table with his gloved hand
music flowed in and out of the bar freely
the windows and doors wide open, to let the spring breeze in
on the other corner of the room, he could feel Inej's eyes on him
could feel Jesper's amusement, as if it came out of him in dizzying waves
he was better off charming a stranger than the woman he loved
how complicated
"What do you think I do?"
"Well." Clara watched him: the suit, the pose, the tilt of his head, the knowing look in his eyes... he was barely older than she was, but Clara had been around men like him for the entirety of her life. She knew how to recognize them. "Do you have anything to do with art?"
Kaz allowed an easy smile to grace his lips; how ironic that it was so forced. "Smart girl."
and she actually flushed at that
good thing the Bastard of the Barrel had mastered total control of his face muscles, or else he might have given himself away by now
"Ah," she said, a little shy, glancing at the table. "My father collects art pieces from all over the world, so..."
"You don't say?" Kaz said pleasantly, letting his chin rest on his fist. He knew she was curious about the cane that now leaned easily against the table but she thought she was too polite to ask, and too oblivious to notice the tense silence that had dawned upon that bar the moment they'd recognized him. He wondered briefly how Van Bastien would react if he knew Dirtyhands had snaked his way up to his daughter. "What's his name? Perhaps we've worked together before."
"Petyr van Bastien."
"He really must be a saint," Kaz mused, "to be in the business. Difficult industry."
"Oh, really, why?"
"Well, you have to know which pieces are worth keeping," Kaz murmured, forcing his tone to lower, to deepen, forcing his eyes to stray over her face and not follow her eyes, because that was a predator's way, and not a charmer's way, "and which pieces are easily discarded."
Clara's mouth parted
she watched him for a few moments, red flush dragging across her neck and ears
"You must know a lot then."
"I do," he said, lower even, "know a lot."
a pause, silence dragging over
on the other side of the bar, Jesper Fahey grinned into his gin. "No way. No way."
"Hush," Inej said, gently nudging him with an elbow. "Pay attention."
"Who knew," Jesper continued, "he charmed me too."
a pause
"Maybe I might steal him from you, too," Jesper teased
Inej sipped her drink. "You wouldn't dare."
"I would."
"We both know you'd fail," Inej smiled. "Everybody would."
"Cause he only has eyes for you?" Jesper mocked half-heartedly
"Look," Inej made a micro movement with her chin. "She's giving in."
"It's been... half an hour."
Inej grinned
"You're actually proud of him."
"Shut up, Jesper."
on the opposite site, Clara van Bastien had just hidden her slightly trembling hands beneath the table cloth
and Kaz Brekker had seen that gesture, and known he'd won
"Your collection must be incomparable."
"It's not mine," she shrugged. "It's my father's."
"Same thing," Kaz murmured. "I could use a partner like your father."
Clara hesitated. "Really?"
Kaz could see it then, in her eyes: the girl eager to do well, to have that pat in the back of approval
a girl in dire need of being recognized and seen
truly, just a child in a horrid place, a forever prison
he almost felt pity
for he saw the calculations she was making in head then: score a buyer for her father, a partner for his business, get his approval, possibly show him she was capable of so much more, and hopefully, hopefully... changing his mind about sending her abroad to study that one thing that truly kept her alive - music
he nodded slowly, then dared to lean in closer. "I'd be delighted."
she caught his eyes, and held his gaze
"I'd have to know what sort of things he keeps, though," Kaz said. "Maybe I should pay him a visit soon."
and then - his killer move - Kaz nodded his head curtly, and began to rise
suddenly, that dream in her eyes shattered
he read it all in her eyes again: if Kaz was the one to reach out to him, she'd lose all the credit
Clara touched his sleeve
Kaz fought hard against the urge to push it away
from the other side, Inej Ghafa's head rose
she's touching him
on high alert, Inej leaned forward, anxious to see how Kaz would react to this
but he only stopped, watching Clara through his lashes
"I..." Clara swallowed. "Would you like me to show you his gallery? That way you could make up your mind and I could encourage him to meet with you."
Kaz tried not to show his bite in his smile; the girl still hadn't let go of his sleeve, and his heart was beginning to leap uncomfortably. He swallowed with difficulty. "It wouldn't be proper to visit your house at this hour."
Clara inclined her head, a little confused. "Oh, no, it's not at my house," she gave a little breathy laugh, terribly awkward as she allowed her hand to fall at last. "It's actually not far from here."
bingo
the monster inside him grinned
he allowed that monster to show a little as he nodded. "I'd be delighted," he repeated. "Lead the way?"
Clara smiled, half-relieved, half-enchanted, and nodded, too
"He did it," Jesper whispered, "he actually-"
"They're on the move," Inej said. "Let's go. We'll take the alleys."
Jesper and Inej waited a few minutes, before Jesper downed his drink and dropped a few coins on the table
Inej followed him out the door, hidden beneath her cloak, and though her features were hidden, her worry was evident
"D'you think..." she began, then stopped
Jesper looked her way. "What?"
Inej shook her head
she just hoped that small gesture from an oblivious girl hadn't sent Kaz into a spiral
