Truth be told, Yuna had never had an issue with sleeping until she came to this place.
As it was now, the summoner had left her home in the dead of night. She'd tossed and turned for hours on end until she finally dragged herself from her bed. She'd left with the full intention to simply wander but soon found herself at the gates of a large garden. Perhaps if it had been earlier in the evening or even daytime, the garden would be bustling. However, at this time of night the gardens were abandoned. It wasn't as if Yuna minded, after all. The silence was nice, if a little lonely.
It wasn't until Yuna came to the fountain that she felt even the tiniest bit tired. Taking a seat on a nearby bench, the summoner tilted her head back to gaze at the sky - allowing the summer breeze to toss her hair slightly. For a moment, she thought she even saw a star moving. On closer inspection, though, it was merely a firefly. As the summoner's gaze followed the firefly, she sat up on the bench once more and extended a hand for the insect to land on.
What she didn't realize was that someone was watching her from across the way. Someone who, without seeing the firefly, could see the scene as the summoner reaching her hand out to them. Yuna seemed to realize this a few seconds too late as evidenced by the embarrassed look on her face.
"A-Ah! Sorry!"

“ I had to FIND you, Tell you I NEED you, Tell you I set you apart,
Tell me your SECRETS, And ask me your QUESTIONS, Oh, let’s go back to the START.”
@eternalsummoner
“Your scars are a reminder of who you were. So never forget who bled for this city. Who it was that saved the damned and the good. Who it was that almost died for them. Who it was that became a legend in their eyes. A legend to be remembered a thousand years from now.”
Yuna had never seen so much blood in her life.
It hung in the air - that metallic coppery scent that had usually been so easily dealt with by a mere Cure spell. This time, however, Yuna couldn’t tell what was the blood of her guardian and what was the blood of his…
“Again.” The word came out as slightly disappointed. She couldn’t help it. Even with all the practice she’d had in faking a smile, the summoner couldn’t keep herself from expressing her inner thoughts. For his part, the male simply stared at her until Yuna backed away from her doorway. Two steps in and he simply stood there. Well. Moving to stand behind him, the summoner braced both hands against the small of his back to give the male a gentle push into her apartment. With that, the door was shut. While there was no longer a bloodied stranger in the hallway, there were quite a few bloody footprints leading to her home.
She’d never seen Kaiden like this. It was enough to worry the young woman.
Warm water in a basin. A washcloth. Bandages. All of it, Yuna gathered in silence. Perhaps she’d been too easy on him by letting the guardian barge in at all hours to get healed whole all too quickly. This time, Yuna had a plan. Gently, she washed the blood from his face and hands in silence save for the summoner’s own soft humming. She’d just been in the process of bandaging a cut on his cheek when the male offered up one small word.
“…Sorry.”
Yuna sat back - her mismatched eyes attempting to meet his own. “If it’s what you have to do, it’s what you have to do. I won’t scold you for it.” Silence fell between the pair with not even Yuna’s humming to break it. Finally, the summoner reached forward and began to bandage a large gash on the male’s arm. “This will leave a scar.”
“Sorry.”
Again, that same apology. Yuna shook her head with a deep sigh. “I know fighting is a part of life. I understand that. I just wish you wouldn’t do it for a living.” Another pause. Another sigh. “…You can change, you know. Even if you think you can’t. Your scars will always be a reminder of who you were, so you shouldn’t forget it completely. You’ve saved people, bad and good. You’ve nearly died for them. For that, you’ve become a legend to them. A legend that will be remembered one thousand years from now, I’m sure.”
Yuna offered the male a small smile. “But I don’t think it’s wise to continue living as a legend. When I asked you to become my guardian, it was because I believed you would be able to save me. We both understood that. But at the same time, I wanted to save you.” The genuine expression seemed to make the summoner uncomfortable - her voice growing soft in the silence of the apartment. She seemed to distract herself with scrubbing Kaiden’s left cheek completely clean of blood. “So…please reconsider before you kill again.”
“Don’t die for our selfish selves.”
Despite how distant the beast was, Yuna was still able to track it’s movement. Screams echoed - howls of those falling prey to the very thing she’d been raised to destroy. Bridges crumbled. Islands fell. Yet Yuna stood opposite the beast, her hold on her staff tight. Behind her stood her guardians.
Before her stood her death.
Whatever had brought her here had no doubt brought Sin as well. Yuna had prayed that Spira was safe in her absence - that somehow her death had brought about a Calm. Yet in saving Spira, she had no doubt brought about a great calamity to this place. There was one thing she could do, though. The trek was surprisingly short to the beast itself.
“…Don’t die for our selfish selves.”
The words caused the summoner to stop in her tracks. From the moment Sin had appeared, Yuna had forced herself to put on a gentle smile. The same smile she’d practiced time and time again. A distraction for her sadness. An act. The summoner glanced over her shoulder to the male who stood at the forefront of her group of guardians. Yori. Of course. The very first of her guardians. Of course he would be the one to voice dissent. Turning her body to face the group, Yuna smiled kindly. "I won’t die. Promise. In fact, I’m so confident that I’ll survive that I’m asking the rest of you to wait here!”
A smile. An act. A cover for what was about to take place. The morose look on her guardian’s faces told her that they weren’t buying it. However, Yuna didn’t let up. “Do you remember what I taught all of you?” It had been something she’d learned in her previous life. A precious memory. Something she’d shared with each guardian when they’d agreed to be her protector. A whistle - a sound so piercing that it could be heard over the loudest of crowds. Yuna’s smile grew brighter as she turned back to face Sin. In that moment, the female seemed so small and delicate against the backdrop of the massive beast before them.
“If we should get separated, just whistle. I’ll come running. I promise.”
In the days of aftermath as people gathered what they could and began to rebuild, the sounds of whistling could be heard over the din - like lost children calling to their mother.
Yet despite her promise, the summoner never returned.
Villain or Hero Edition:
-“You’re going to save them and for what? They don’t appreciate you!”
-“You spill your blood for this city/village and for what? So they can never know the name of the man/woman who saved their miserable lives?”
-“How many times are you going to bleed for them?”
-“Aren’t you tired yet? Haven’t you had enough?”
-“Despair, misery, and chaos. It’s like air to me. But to watch them suffer is much more entertaining.”
-“Look at their miserable lives and tell me what you see. They’re just begging for you to end them.”
-“You’re conflicted I can see it. You don’t want to be the hero but you’re not evil enough to be the villain. So what are you?”
-“You can’t be nothing because you have to be something.”
-“You can’t be nobody you have to be somebody. They need you. Help them.”
-“You’ve shed enough blood. It’s time to stop. You’ve avenged their deaths enough.”
-“You’ve fought until your face was bloody, your ribs cracked, and your soul broken. How much more can you give to them!”
-“You won’t be satisfied until your dead.”
-“This city/village has torn you apart. They don’t deserve anymore saving.”
-“You’d give your soul to them? They won’t ever be satisfied until you’re dead.”
-“You give and you give and give when is it your turn to take?”
-“You’ll burn this city/village to the ground. Murder its people. And then will you be satisfied?”
-“I can’t watch you tear yourself apart anymore for these people.”
-“You’re cruel.”
-“You’ve been caught. There’s nothing more you can do so why are you still fighting?”
-“It’s over. It was a long war filled with countless bodies and bloodshed. So stop…it’s over.”
-“I know you. You aren’t this terrible person people see you as and made you become. There’s still some light within you. I see it…”
-“What has the world done to you to make you feel this broken that you feel the need to hurt other people?”
-“You hurt others because they hurt you.”
-“I can see the torment within you. I can especially tell by the way you mangle the bodies of your enemies.”
-“You don’t owe people anything else.”
-“You’re like the sun and moon. You can either be the light that guides peoples lives to a better world. Or you can be the moon and darken their world. Or- you can be an eclipse and be a little bit of both good and evil.”
-“What do YOU want to become?”
-“You’re the only one who can give others hope.”
-“If it wasn’t for you we’d all be dead.”
-“The histories will never know who really saved us because he/she didn’t want to be known as a hero.”
-“Don’t die for our selfish selves.”
-“You brought this upon yourself.”
-“You can either save lives or take them. So which is it? Who will you become?”
-“You say you’d burn the city/village to the ground. But what happens when you’re standing on a pile of ash and smoke with no subjects to rule?”
-“Your mentor molded you to be a monster.”
-“Your mentor molded you to be a beckon of hope for others.”
-“They will never bow to you.”
-“You’re nothing but a usurper from a foreign place to us. We will never call you King/Queen.”
-“You hide behind a mask all the time and I don’t mean the one upon your face.”
-“Of all the things to have happened to you are you still capable of love?”
-“You were born a villain but you will die a hero.”
-“You were born a hero but will die a villain.”
-“You’ve changed since we first met. You’re becoming something I don’t recognize anymore.”
-“You’re no longer a man. You’re a beast.”
-“Greatness was thrust upon you but you decided not to take it. Why?”
-“We don’t choose these roles they just happen.”
-“I won’t watch you die.”
-“What are you fighting for?”
-“Fates can be changed there’s still time.”
-“Your fate isn’t set in stone.”
-“There’s pain in my chest every time I see you in anguish.”
-“You never meant anything to them. So you turned into the thing they feared the most to leave an impression upon them.”
-“I wish you could see your worth.”
-“Your life is not worth the weight of gold they will pay you for helping them.”
-“I won’t watch you become someone I don’t recognize.”
-“I can’t even say who are you becoming because I don’t even know what you are anymore.
-“When they write of your history they will say it began on this day.”
-“Your scars are a reminder of who you were. So never forget who bled for this village/city. Who it was that saved the damned and the good. Who it was that almost died for them. Who it was that became a legend in their eyes. A legend to be remembered a thousand years from now.”

When Yuna had set out from her home in the early morning hours, she'd done so with a bag of birdseed in hand. The plan had been to feed birds for a little while before doing her shopping. Perhaps if she'd taken a moment to glance at the sky before she'd excitedly walked to her destination, Yuna would have realized that the weather would not hold up. As it was now, the summoner was stuck under a tree as rain poured down around her. In fact, she could barely hear anything over the downpour.
Every so often, a droplet of water would hit the summoner despite her best attempts to stay dry. With her back pressed against the rough tree bark, Yuna had tilted her head back to look at the leaves as they shielded her from the rain. It wasn't until a few droplets had hit her face that the summoner finally looked around herself with the hopes of an abandoned umbrella or safer shelter to stand beneath. While she didn't find anything of the sort, she did notice a string of numbers and a message painted on a nearby wall. For 5 yen, I'll do anything.
Do anything...
The female took a deep breath before calling out the string of numbers. That was their name, right? Whoever it was.
"H-Help!"
@tyngkt
Yuna had never seen such a wide selection before let alone most of the items currently on display.
The odd-looking bag crinkled as she picked it up, causing the summoner's eyebrows to raise in surprise. They soon furrowed as she tried to understand what, exactly, the bag contained. What were 'chips'? The female turned the bag over in her hand with the same confused expression. The description on the back revealed nothing more than a set of facts that she couldn't comprehend. However, these 'chips' seemed to yield little in the way of nutrition. While juggling the bag of chips in one hand, Yuna reached for something that looked a little more familiar: noodles.
Or, rather, instant ramen.
Lifting up this package, Yuna's eyes were drawn to a male standing relatively close to her in the aisle of the minimart. At once, the summoner smiled - intent on making a good first impression. "Excuse me! I'm so sorry to bother you." Turning to face the man, Yuna held out the bag of chips for him to inspect. "Can you tell me if these actually taste good? We don't have them where I come from." The summoner seemed to catch herself.
"Ah. Where I came from, I mean."
@dcfector
From the moment she'd stepped off of the bridge, Yuna knew that this place was different. It was like something out of a storybook - a field of grass and flowers. Perhaps it would have even been considered peaceful by the summoner if it weren't for two very odd features: she could not hear even the smallest sound of animal life and a piano stood in the middle of the field. Odd.
Gathering her skirt in one hand, Yuna set off toward the piano. The sun had already begun to set by the time she'd reached the island from the bridge but Yuna was not afraid. It was so quiet here that there didn't seem to be any danger at all. By the time she'd emerged from a particularly tall set of grass, the young woman realized that someone was sitting at the piano. She stood a few feet away from him - her gaze watching him curiously. Whoever it was, she couldn't see him. The last few rays of light had finally faded, leaving the pair of them shrouded in shadow.
Then it happened.
The flowers around them seemed to bloom before her very eyes - providing the two of them enough light to actually see one another. Blue lights floated lazily around the field, occasionally accompanied by an odd-looking animal. Yuna couldn't help but smile at the sight of this all.
"I was going to ask if you needed help since you were out here all alone. Is this what you were waiting for?"
@savoringsuffering
Despite her best efforts, it seemed as if Yuna had lost her way. She'd spent much of the late afternoon wandering around the core island of her new home. However, near dusk the female had set out across a connecting bridge toward what she thought would be a new opportunity to find out information about...well, anything. Her friends. Her home. Where she was now. Squinting into the darkness, Yuna was startled to find that the island before her was crawling with demons. Their distant howls only confirmed her fears - there were many more than she could see.
Were these fiends?
What was it that she'd been told once before when she was training to be a summoner? The 'dead need guidance'. Lifting her staff, the female closed her eyes. She'd just have to send them all. Would she have to summon? Without a group of guardians, she couldn't fight on her own. A hand lifted to the heavens. For a moment, all was still and silent. Then, a far-off boom shook the bridge and the sky lit up as if the sun had suddenly decided to return to the sky.
What happened next was nothing short of a miracle.
A giant birdlike beast swooped down from the sky only to allow Yuna to pat it's head almost lovingly. The birdlike monster seemed to stiffen - causing Yuna to look back behind her and at a figure standing a few paces away on the bridge.
"D-Don't be scared of him! Aeons are kind..."
@fumeikami
She was breathing too fast.
One hand pressed itself to her chest while the other gripped her staff. She'd just been getting ready to defeat Sin, hadn't she? They'd had a plan. Yuna was going to make sure no one ever had to be sacrificed again. They were going to save Spira - for real, not just for a few years. Sin would be defeated and they would be safe. All of that planning, all of that hope, and for what?
Eternity. She'd died.
Died?
The summoner couldn't breathe. Tears blurred her vision. Died? How had she died? Had they failed? Why couldn't she remember? Her slender body trembled beneath the weight of the revelation. Had she even saved Spira? Despite knowing that she should smile and carry on as if nothing had happened, Yuna couldn't muster the smile she'd worn so easily. Even when her mismatched eyes settled on someone staring at her from a few feet away.
"Did I really die?" Her trembling voice cracked. It was all she could muster.
I am a little nervous but here we go! Please like this post for a starter! I will cap it at five!
I doodled a yuna !!
