A debacle with Klaus and Caroline in the middle of the carnival? That was not on the night’s agenda. She felt exhausted as it all came back and she remembered everything. What Elena hadn’t realized was that before her humanity switched off, she felt that something, someone was missing and, in a way, there was an intense grief that grasped at her heart with a deadly grip. She remembered Damon. The way she’d fallen in love with him, the real him. A version of him that she knew was good. Her best friend understood when Elena meant to walk away from their argument, because she had to find him. As she took a few minutes to step away, she stood still and tucked her hair behind her ears to hope that it would assist in channeling Damon’s voice. Laughter, no. Screaming, no. Talking, no. A glass clinking with another and a familiar voice ordering a bourbon. The bar. She hadn’t acted surprise, but more rather took a swift look around her vicinity before, in a dash, she disappeared and headed to the bar. Her presence was made known by the ring of the door’s bell, but that figure that Elena instantly recognized hadn’t turned. Her breath hitched. She walked towards Damon with a slow, steady set of steps.. almost afraid.
He’s enjoyed some of the festivities the carnival offered, the food and the occasional game here and there but his favorite place at the carnival was the bar. He’d even go to say that was his favorite place just about anywhere but as of lately, he’d been especially common around these parts. He hears the chime of the bell, notifying just about every patron in here that someone else has joined them but Damon’s attention was focused on the drink in hand, the mindless chatter going around all around him and the delicious taste of the bourbon sliding down his throat. Footsteps were heard behind him, slow steady and almost cautious. “You can sit, you know. I don’t bite.” Hard, that is. No, that was even a lie.
