So since I headcanon Desmond as hyper mobile I think it's only fitting that at some point during ac3 he sneezed and dislocated a rib, and naturally, fucking fell to the floor (I'm imagining he sneezed, dislocated the rib, and then groaned before just doubling over on the floor) and Bill, knowing his son, knows exactly what just happened and doesn't pay it any mind after Desmond waves him away but Shaun and Rebecca and now freaking out cuz from their perspective Desmond just sneezed and then dropped

I'm imagining them panicking and debating who's gonna bring him to the hospital and who's gonna pay for that trip while Desmond is just like "please guys I just wanna go to sleep and eat a granola bar"

Top gun is the type of movie that I feel like should have a book with more information inside and like 3 important character scenes that were cut from the final movie but it doesn't and it makes me mad where is my 1980s book with both homophobic and homosexual undertones😭😭

I was rewatching apothecary diaries and I think at some point after maomao and jinshi get together, this interacting will inevitably happen

Fuck William Miles, absolutely fuck him! Buuuuuut I don't like it when the mere possibility of a redemption arc or a deeper look into the character is ignored for the sake of having this single bad apple define Desmond's shitty and kind of tragic childhood.

The idea that Desmond would want to go back to the Farm and set things right with his mom, and even his dad on some level, is such an interesting source of ideas, but everyone excuses it as "he was just confused and stressed" (IF they even acknowledge it all...)

Desmond could be confusing Connor or someone else's feeling for his own and have wished for this in the spur of the moment, yes, but the idea that after a lot, and I mean A LOT, of hard work the toxicity in the family can be cleaned off makes Des' sacrifice that much more powerful.

I honestly don't believe that Desmond and Bill would have gotten that much better along if Des had survived. Sometimes toxicity overpowers your wish and ability to fix things up, but the intention is important. And there was definitely SOME of it in the canon, so why should people characterize the whole dynamic as the ultimate abuser-victim example? Yeah, it's there, but it has the potential to, and dare I say even IS, more than that.

TLDR treat Desmond and Bill's dynamic less as daddy issues and more like mommy issues.

YES I have dropped whole fics because of this of anything the only point of their relationship you can say is confusion or stress is the fact that Desmond forgave his dad too quickly, not to say that it couldn't happen at all, especially considering Bill seemed right there with Desmond in wanting to mend things. I firmly believe that after the end if Desmond survived, most of the strain would probably be from having to catch up years of not talking or being around them, along with some mild controlling behavior from bill but that's not the point

The point is a big reason Desmond left is because his parents kept withholding information from him causing him to doubt the creed as a whole, like yeah his childhood wasn't the best because of training but it's also the lack of information that he cared about and partially why he started getting more agitated towards everyone during ac3, if you wanna show Desmond having trauma from his childhood, show him reacting poorly to having information kept from him, not just a throw away line about how much bill sucked

There is an air of homosexuality to be found in the fact that the first time we see deer (an animal that was used later in the game to represent purity and innocence) in rdr2 is with Charles who is teaching you how to hunt

(I'm pretty sure the actual symbolism in that considering the deer gets killed is how Arthur had lost his innocence and purity from the beginning but anything can be gay if you look hard enough)

So I have this hc that Cas, as Dean's protector has a spider sense for when Dean is in danger. Cas could be in heaven with Dean on earth but will still feel this weird sinking feeling every time Dean gets near something hot that he could burn himself on and it intensifies based on how severe the danger is. Thankfully due to this Cas can mentally filter out the instances when Dean is doing something stupid vs when he's in actual danger

Now to build off this hc, in the show ending, they never really explain why Cas got brought back other than, "Jack helped" now I believe that the feeling of Dean dying was so intense and so sharp for Cas that he awoke in the empty, again, causing the empty to get so pissed that he called Jack and said "if this bitch ever gets put in my jurisdiction and interrupts my nap again, I'm going to destroy the universe" (it didn't help Cas was having a break down over Dean dying) and Jack was like "alright damn I'll take him" and thus on the 7th day Cas was resurrected through the power of homosexuality and sleep deprivation

I love how creature commandos never shys away from showing just how brutal everyone is, G.I left a kid stuffing his intestines back in his stomach while desperately sobbing, Dr. Phosphorus is constantly dismembering people, weasel tore up circe when he got his hands on her, and every gun fight has at least a few shots of some guy getting his face blown off, it's like a shock of cold water that really forces you to see how gruesome they are and also forces you to really see the people getting killed and not just a random spray of fake blood against a window or something

I just realized Desmond was probably muiltilangual before the Animus since he was raised and trained as an assassin in the USA which has a ton of people who have poor English or just don't speak english so it makes sense they would teach him multiple languages for missions and such

Anyway here's my list of languages I believe they taught him along with English

Several dialects of Spanish including American Spanish, Mexican Spanish, and Caribbean spanish

Chinese

Japanese (I believe he learned this a bit later like 9 or 10 just because an assassin came back from a really bad mission because the templars paid a guy who only spoke Japanese to bring in the assassin's and the assassin's deadass just followed him when he asked them to cuz they couldn't understand the guy, bill immediately added Japanese lessons to Desmond's studied after this...)

Modern Arabic (this one is because I hc his mom as being from Saudi Arabia)

Modern French and Italian

A lot of sign language, they actually taught him the sign language variant for each language they taught him but he normally just uses asl or see depending on how fluent the person he is talking to is

You can't just specify multiple dialects of Spanish and not French! There are so many dialects of French in North America! Which ones is he speaking? Would they bother to teach him the Franco-Manitoban dialect of Canadian French due to proximity, or is the Farm just that isolated?

Sign languages in North America are almost all either descended from the French school or are created at the village level, so Desmond would have the same dialect problem there as with spoken French or Spanish. That's a lot of variants to keep track of!

How many Chinese languages is he learning? Just Cantonese and Mandarin? What about the different ways those are spoken across the Sinosphere?

Is he just learning the dialect of Arabic his mom speaks or the most common versions across the USA?

That is so many languages to learn by 16.

So... I have lived in the south my whole life and I didn't realize there was more than two dialects of French...

Anyway to answer these questions, he learns the Canadian French due to the proximity and he learns American Chinese and he was starting mandarin lessons around the time he left and how he learned this many languages is they taught him most of these languages as he was learning English, so next to English lessons he would have Spanish and Chinese lessons with it. He also knows the basics of Latin because it's a good base language that once you learn it kinda gives you the beginnings of a lot of other languages

Also he learns the dialect his mom spoke but also the ones commonly spoken across America just from the other assassin's since some of these languages he did pick up from the older assassin's since it's Desmond so obviously due to funky isu genetics he's just built different
