Freehand Portrait Practice (2024) - Ethan Harvey, Digital Illustration

Ethan pretty much stopped drawing regularly in college. Beyond a few note margin sketches or the odd drawing assignment, sketching for fun became a thing of the past.

Through intervening years, Ethan would draw every so often, but never took it seriously. Consequently, Ethan decided that 2024 would be the year to start practicing freehand drawing once again. They produced this collage one night as an attempt to turn practice into something a bit more polished.

Sometimes art is abandoned a little sooner than others. Oh well, just more entries for the Ethereal Oeuvre.

Good Old Days Tee (2020) - Ethan Harvey, Illustration & Design

Ethan began experimenting with indexed color and kitschy, nostalgic designs to compliment his adoption of the mantra “they will all be good old days someday.” A phrase he would go on to have tattooed on his thigh. Indexed colors reminded Ethan of his experiences on early Mac and Windows PCs.

For a time, Ethan considered selling his own, original “vintage” tees online, but—as most of his ideas go—he got bored and moved on to something else. Giving this design the privilege of being another entry in the Ethereal Oeuvre.

Ultimately Ethan was afraid to make anything too avant-garde at the time and decided to lean in to his nostalgic love of old film titles instead.
