Listen, its cool that JKR endorses poc Hermione for her latest post-series franchise cash cow, but lets not pretend that she deserves any credit for a black Hermione. She did not write black Hermione. Her backtracking and saying “Oh yes but she could have been!” post publication is not representation and it barely scrapes by as “canon” tbh. 

Fans created black Hermione. They deserve the credit for this.

I think this tweet is important though, because J.K Rowling created these characters, and the people who had a problem with black Hermione tried to use her as an excuse to hate black Hermione and she shut them down by saying, not only is it not canon that Hermione is white, (although it’s also not canon that she’s black) she absolutely loves the idea of a black Hermione. Which kind of means that if you have a problem with it then you have to take a deeper look at why you’re mad about this (you’re racist).
