Today is National Limerick Day and we’re continuing our celebration of libraries by adding on to last year’s “lib-ericks”. Here are this year’s “lib-ericks”:
*******************************
There once was a trickster card catalog
that always left librarians agog.
If a user chose Plath,
it’d present Grapes of Wrath,
starting a curious rhymed dialogue.
*******************************
The first time I went to the library
to pick up a book not ordinary
I was just three
I jumped in glee
On finding the book of Tom and Jerry!
*******************************
When writing my new science serial
I need facts on all things bacterial.
But where should I look?
I’ll take out a book!
From the library’s great reference material.
*******************************
There once was a librarian named Ada
Who couldn’t find enough metadata
Usage reports abound
KBART can be found
But all her systems were still in beta
*******************************
Dickinson, Melville, and Poe
take me to lands I don’t know,
where fun is no cost
and if I get lost,
I ask Frost which way to go.
*******************************
No matter who you are or where you’re from,
if you’re curious, then all are welcome
to the house of knowledge
in school, state, or college;
a common space where no question is dumb.
*******************************
Comment below if you have a “lib-erick” of your own to share!
