“This isn’t a joke, is it?”
A brow raises, seriousness manifested in his words and his features become indifferent. His tone presses lower and an omninous sense surrounds him. This better not be a joke, or else he will consider resigning. The heartaches and panic attacks are just not worth the wrinkles on his forehead.
… So, he was coming.
Emma hates relying on others, if she can't do it alone, she learn how to do it, she works twice as much, she tries twice as long, and asking for help is always the very last option.
But how many others options does she have now?
Carrying the princess in a barrow? How suspcious it coud be?
In truth, every option had a negative side, so she just picked the one with the least problematic one.
Anyway, the girl is still stuck with having to explain something that she can't explain even to herself.
His feet were steping hard on the ground, even tought they were meters apart Emma could still hear his footsteps clearly. She was using the noise of his footsteps to know he would slip or not, being ready to react and try to help him with her powers in case he did. But fortunately, he managed to catch her without problems.
Emma stoped when he started talking to her, she was exausted, although if it waren't for her heavy breathing, no one would even imagine it.
She looks like some caracther of a porly designed game, where her stamina is over and now she just need to walk while it charges again.
For a moment, the girl didn't said anything, she just breathed, staring him quietly.
- That's funny, because I was hoping that this were a joke.
She was holding the handle of her bucket that was resting right in front of her body. Her weight was perfeclty splited between her legs, her voice was calm.
The wind blowed by them, Emma saw in this guy exactly what she expected to find in a guardian, she could feel his loyalty, this almost made her feel bad for putting him in this situation.
She was owing him an explanation.
- Do you believe in destiny? - She started, althought this was an strange question, she has seriouness in her voice. - I'm Emma, you can say that I was sent by the mirror. - Lifting the hem of her dress with one hand, she bowed slightly, greeting him.- I saw the princess dehydrating alone in the florest, she needed help. - She stoped for a brief moment. - In truth, I can't say that if this is happening now, or if this is going to happen today, but we can't risk it, right? She was not on the castle when I left.
