Alright Besties, here’s the Lunar Chronicles fan cast that you did not, in fact, ask for
*disclaimer: this is not meant to be 100% age/description accurate, as I tried to get a feel for actors who I thought looked like the characters but would also act them really well, because the characters are what make this series. There is not a single one of them that I would not LITERALLY LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR, so I wanted to do their characters justice. For who they are rather than what they look like
first off: for CINDER I chose Dianne Doan. You might know/recognize her as the daughter of Mulan from Disney’s Descendants, but I know and love her as Cora in season 7 of Agents of SHIELD. I think the emotional vulnerability layered with trying to put on a strong face that Dianne acted as Cora would lend incredibly well to her in playing Cinder. She’s also got some nice sass, which is a definite requirement of the role.

second: for KAI I chose Manny Jacinto. For multiple reasons. We know the man can act; I watched The Good Place. He’s made me laugh and cry and then laugh and cry at the same time. And the sass on this King????? Unmatched. Also, we know that Kai is described as beautiful enough to make a whole country (and more) fall in love with him. And have you seen Manny Jacinto’s chiseled bone structure?? ugh. It should be illegal to look that good.
AND!! IN FURTHER DEFENSE OF BOTH CASTINGS: DIANNE DOAN AND MANNY JACINTO ARE LITERALLY ENGAGED!! AND WE KNOW THAT WHOEVER PLAYS CINDER AND KAI HAVE TO HAVE PALPABLE MARRIED-COUPLE ENERGY!! SO WHO BETTER TO SERVE THAT THAN A LITERAL MARRIED COUPLE?? LOOK AT THEM :
third: for SCARLET I chose Danielle Galligan. Again, its all in the personality for me, and… i really don’t know how to make this one any clearer. And don’t come for me, y'all, I know Danielle isn’t a redhead. Hair. Can. Be. Dyed.
(honorable mentions: Shannon Purse, Abigail Cowen)
fourth: for WOLF I chose Luke Pasqualino. Why? Because this man KNOWS how to look incredibly uncomfortable in a given social situation. I’ve seen it in him as David Kostyk. And, so help me God, Wolf/Ze'ev is so incredibly awkward and deeply uncomfortable in social situations.

fifth: for CRESS I chose Emily Wickersham. Early on in her role as Agent Bishop in NCIS, she reminded me very much of Cress; an innocent newbie on the team who was underestimated and yet still managed to prove herself on many occasions with her intelligence and technological abilities in ways that saved everyone else’s tail many, many times. Emily also just gives off sweet and innocent vibes. I want to protect Emily. Which is yet another reason she should play Cress, who seems to make everyone fall under a magic spell that makes them say “She is so smoll, I must protect”

sixth: for THORNE I chose Jeremy Shada, because, like Carswell Thorne, I fell in love with him immediately upon his entering a scene. Jeremy was in Julie and the Phantoms, and I swear when he came on screen, my heart plummeted out my rear and ran away to find him. I still haven’t gotten it back. But both characters are so attractive full of ‘smooth brain smooth talk’ energy, but yet so caring and emotionally intelligent… yeah. Jeremy just gives off Thorne energy to me, I don’t know what else to tell you. I mean??? This look he’s doing? Such a Thorne-trying-and-failing-to-sweet-talk-Cinder look.

i’ve lost count of the numbers, but for WINTER, I chose Yara Shahidi. This just makes so much sense to me, because Winter has a captivating presence and allure (despite being absolutely bonkers) its insane. She is, in my opinion, the epitome of femininity and grace, much like Audrey Hepburn. ((I still have a lot on my mind about this subject from a recent video on youtube by The Authentic Observer, I would highly recommend anyone to check it out.)) Anyway, Yara Shahidi also very much has this aura around her. I mean, just look at her Met Gala look and tell me that she doesn’t give off Modern Audrey Hepburn, and/or Slightly Insane Space Princess
for JACIN, I chose Drew Starkey. Y'all, this man is an insanely talented actor. As a member of the Jacin Clay Nation, who will absolutely throw hands if folks don’t start appreciating him more, I really wanted who could deliver the caring heart behind Jacin’s dry and somewhat cold exterior tHAT HE ONLY HAS BECAUSE HE’S BEEN FORCED TO!! HE’S NOT A COLD AND HATEFUL CHARACTER!! IT’S JUST HIS WAY OF PROTECTING THE ONES HE LOVES!! BACK OFF MY BOY!! In any case, I think that with the nuances he played so well in Outer Banks, he would be able to do Jacin’s character a world of justice.
finally IKO, for whom I chose Tessa Thompson. Because, for one thing, Iko is an android, and there’s no way that anyone as beautiful as Tessa can actually be an organic human being. And, two, she just has a great personality that I feel would lend well to Iko as a role.
Anyway, that’s all for today, folks, I’ve already spent hours on this. I might come back later and cast some more characters from the series (and/or other another series)
