𐙚 i primarily write on discord, where most of my activity takes place. however, i've recently become more interested in tumblr threads, plotting, asks, and spontaneous interactions. if we click, chances are i'd be more than happy to write with you across multiple platforms.

𐙚 at the moment, i'm fairly active, though my availability may fluctuate depending on real life, motivation, and muse. writing is a hobby and a space for creativity, not an obligation. please don't rush me for replies, and i'll always offer you the same patience in return ♡

Jaemin spoke before they even had the chance to open their mouth. Perched on the hood of his car in the underground parking garage, he sat with his hoodie pulled low over his head, the harsh fluorescent lights casting long shadows across his face. His phone remained in one hand as he scrolled through yet another flood of notifications, each vibration bringing a fresh wave of articles, comments, and speculation.

The agency building behind them looked more chaotic than usual. Even from outside, he could practically feel the panic radiating from the management floor. "If you're here to tell me the company's having a collective meltdown, I already know."

His thumb paused briefly against the screen before a humorless laugh escaped him. At this point, he was almost impressed by the internet's creativity. "For the record," he continued, shaking his head, "I've apparently dated three actresses, two idols, a model, and someone's cousin this month." none of whom he'd actually dated...at least not this month.

The corner of his mouth twitched upward as he finally looked up from his phone. Despite the exhaustion lingering beneath his eyes, there was still that familiar confidence about him—the kind that had made him one of the most recognizable faces in the country. He then slipped his phone into his pocket and pushed himself off the hood of the car, then his gaze settled on them.

A knowing smirk appeared almost instantly."So," he drawled, crossing his arms over his chest, "which one are you here to yell at me about?"

muse: lu mengran (she/her, failing and struggling c-list actress - please read pinned post) open: anyone plot: after years of chasing a dream and going nowhere with it, she is finally returning to her hometown for the first time in years, only to run into y/m. maybe both her and y/m used to be a thing? before she left to chase her dream? maybe some pent up feelings and/or saltiness still remain? or maybe y/m never got to confess at all?

it has been a few days since lu mengran came back in town. there's no shame in returning certainly, plenty of people return all the time, yet she couldn't shake the feeling that she has to avoid people. there is no point of hiding either, yet she finds herself waiting until the day goes dark every day before she finally dares to leave the house. it isn't running into old classmates or neighbors that she is wary of, but the questions lurking in their eyes. they probably mean no harm, but it doesn't make the bitter weight in her chest any better. for the first few evenings, it has worked and she hasn't had to talk to anyone other than the cashier at the convenience store.

until tonight. the early summer air is refreshing enough for a walk, and for the first time since her return, she finds herself going down the paths that she had taken numerous times as a child. an ice cream in hand, with another bag of ice creams in her other hand, she is deep in her thoughts. by the time she stops to look at the pedestrian light, her gaze falls onto something else instead. someone. a face all too familiar, even after so long.

she blinks, mid-lick of her ice cream.

for a split second, she considers looking away. but that seems too purposeful, and it's too late anyway. "oh, hey." she says, as casual as ever, waving a little with the ice cream, "nice seeing you ... i just ... came back recently." a pause, and then, "out for a walk too?"

The voice caught Wenyu's attention before he even realized who it belonged to. He turned, and the moment his eyes landed on her, he froze. Lu Mengran. For a second, he simply stared, as though his mind was struggling to catch up with what he was seeing. Years had passed since she'd left town to chase her dream of becoming an actress, yet he recognized her immediately. Somehow, that only made seeing her here feel stranger, like stumbling upon a memory he'd long convinced himself belonged in the past. His gaze lingered on her face, searching for a moment as if to make sure she was really standing there. The muscles in his jaw tightened. "Mengran?" The name left him almost instinctively. A quiet breath escaped him as disbelief flickered across his features. "What are you doing here?"

The question slipped out before he could stop it. Not because he didn't want to see her, but because seeing her here, in the middle of the town she'd left behind years ago, felt impossible. He looked away briefly, his eyes settling on the empty road beside them before returning to her. "Sorry." His voice was lower this time. "I just... wasn't expecting to see you here." The admission felt awkward on his tongue as he ran a hand through his hair. For years, he'd imagined what he might say if he ever saw her again. None of those imagined conversations had prepared him for the reality of standing across from her now. "Yeah. Just out for a walk." His gaze drifted down to the ice cream in her hand before returning to her face. For a moment, everything felt painfully familiar. The way she stood, the way she looked at him after being caught off guard. Small things he shouldn't have remembered after so long, yet somehow still did and the realization settled heavily in his chest.

"How long are you staying?" The question followed naturally, maybe he shouldn't have cared about the answer...maybe he should've learned not to, but years had passed, and here he was asking anyway. His eyes remained on her, quieter than before. "... how have you been all this while?" This time, when he spoke again, his voice softened because that was the question he'd wanted to ask from the beginning, not where she'd been, not why she'd come back...just whether she was doing okay. Back then, he had listened to her talk endlessly about acting, about auditions, about moving to bigger cities. About all the things she wanted for herself. Her eyes would light up every time the subject came up, and even when it became painfully obvious that those dreams were taking her further and further away from him, he had never been able to ask her to stay. Part of loving her had been letting her go, even if it hurt. There was some resentment buried somewhere beneath the surface but standing here now, looking at her after all this time, one thing was impossible to deny: he was glad she was here, even if he didn't quite know what to do with that feeling.

Xinyi held his gaze for a moment after the words left his mouth. You've always been dramatic. Normally, she would've rolled her eyes and thrown the insult right back at him but tonight, she couldn't not when he looked like this. Rainwater ran down his bruised face, catching on the blood gathered at the corner of his split lip. His dark hair clung to his forehead, half-concealing cuts and scrapes that seemed to multiply the longer she looked. And somehow, despite all of it, he was still trying to act like it didn't matter. Then she noticed the things most people would've missed—the slight tremor in his hands, the way he favored one side whenever he moved, the hitch in his breathing that betrayed every ounce of pain he was trying to hide. When he finally admitted it was because of the money, of course it was, Xinyi let out a slow breath and shook her head. "You idiot." There was no anger behind the words, only relief that he'd finally stopped lying.

The moment his hand drifted to his ribs, however briefly, her stomach sank. Before she could stop herself, she reached for him, immediately catching his arm when he tried to stand. "Be careful." The words came out sharper than intended, not because she was angry, but because she was scared. Scared of how much pain he was clearly in. Scared of how hard he was trying to pretend otherwise."If you fall and crack your head open, I'm not carrying you." It was an obvious lie. Then a quiet laugh escaped her before she looked up at him again, her eyes tracing over every bruise and cut decorating his face. "You think I should be angry?" she asked softly. "I know I should be." Her shoulders rose and fell with a small sigh." But I can never seem to stay angry with you." For a moment, only the rain filled the silence between them. Then Xinyi stepped closer and gently brushed a damp strand of hair away from his forehead. Her fingers lingered briefly against his temple before slipping away, the gesture so instinctive she barely seemed aware of doing it ."You can survive one night without me calling you an idiot," she murmured, a faint smile tugging at her lips. "Tomorrow, though? You're getting the full lecture." Her hand found his arm again, steadying him. "But tonight..." Her voice softened. "Tonight I'll cut you some slack." She studied him for another second before letting out a quiet sigh.

"Come on. We're getting you out of the rain." Before he could argue, she slipped his arm over her shoulders and guided him forward. Immediately she felt how tense he was, how much effort it took just to remain standing. Every few steps during the short walk to the convenience store, she felt him stiffen beside her as they kept walking, only confirming what she'd suspected all along. By the time they reached the awning outside the brightly lit store, she was convinced he was hurt far worse than he was admitting. "Sit." For once, it wasn't a suggestion, it was an order. A few minutes later, she returned water, and a hot canned coffee that she immediately pressed into his hands. "Hold that." Pulling a chair in front of him, she sat down and finally got a proper look at him beneath the fluorescent lights. The bruising along his cheekbone looked darker now, the split in his lip seemed deeper, the exhaustion he'd been trying to hide sat plainly in his eyes...It made her chest ache. Swallowing hard, she dipped a cotton swab that she took out from the bag she was holding on into the ointment before looking back up. "Tell me if this hurts." Her voice softened into almost a whisper as she gently tilted his chin toward her. For a brief moment, their eyes met and that made her chest tighten but she brushed it off as her gaze dropped to the cut on his lip. The scent of rain and coffee lingered between them as she leaned little closer to get better look, carefully applying the ointment with a touch so gentle it was almost hesitant as if she was afraid of causing him even the slightest bit more pain. "You know..." she murmured quietly, still focused on the injury. "You don't always have to fight back." She dabbed at another bruise before shaking her head. "Next time, just run." Her thumb brushed lightly against his jaw as she steadied his face. "Your pride isn't worth this."

haoran hated this. not the stinging ointment. not the ache spreading through every inch of his body. not even the lecture he knew was coming tomorrow. he hated sitting still while somebody worried about him. the hot can of coffee rested between both hands, the warmth seeping into cold fingers that still hadn't completely stopped trembling. he stared down at it while xinyi worked, watching the thin wisps of steam curl into the air. when she tilted his chil toward her, his instinct was to pull away. but he didn't. the fluorescent lights overhead were unforgiving, exposing every bruise and cut he'd hoped looked better in the dark. up close, he could see the concentration in her expression. the slight furrow between her brows. the careful way she handled each injury as if he might break apart beneath her hands. it made something uncomfortable settle in his chest. "you're making it sound like i got hit by a truck." the attempt at humor came out weaker than intended. he winced when the cotton swab brushed the split in his lip. "okay, maybe a small truck." a quiet sigh escaped him as he leaned back into the plastic chair. every muscle in his body felt heavy. the adrenaline that had kept him moving earlier was fading fast, leaving behind exhaustion and pain in its place. at her suggestion that he should have run, a dry laugh left him. "it doesn't work like that." his gaze dropped to the coffee can in his hands again. "i run tonight, they come back tomorrow. maybe they're angrier next time." or how to lure him out. the words were simple, matter-of-fact. "i can't hide, they'd know where to find me. you don't get away from people like that by running. running would only delay the inevitable." part of him had thought he could handle it. part of him had thought if he stood his ground long enough, maybe they would back off. instead, he ended up bleeding in an alley for xinyi to find. again. the realization made him grimace. when her thumb brushed against his jaw, his gaze lifted. for a moment, he forgot whatever sarcastic response he'd been about to make. the convenience store buzzed quietly around them. a refrigerator hummed somewhere nearby, rain tapped steadily against the windows. yet all of it seemed strangely distant. his eyes lingered on her face before he caught himself. "you know, most people would've listened when i told them to mind their own business. they definitely wouldn't have dragged me through rain, bought me coffee, and played emergency room nurse." despite the words, there wasn't a trace a complaint in his voice. if anything, he sounded confused by the effort she was willing to go through for him. he wanted to thank her but the words got all caught up in his throat, though haoran's eyes expressed his appreciation clearly.

Enough to know that if walking away had been that easy, he would've done it already. "You're right," she admitted reluctantly. When he pointed out that most people would've listened and minded their own business, her hand stilled. Because honestly? Most people probably would've and yet here she was...and she couldn't quite explain why. A quiet laugh escaped her. "I know. I probably should've." She leaned back slightly, genuinely searching for an answer, but none of them felt quite right. "I don't know why."

The words slipped out before she could stop them. Then she frowned because maybe she did know, maybe she'd known for a while...she just wasn't ready to say it out loud. Instead, her gaze lingered on the cotton swab on her hand. "Maybe I'm just bad at minding my own business." After a moment, her gaze lifted to his."You looked like you needed someone." The words came out softly, far softer than she'd intended. Realizing it a second too late, she quickly cleared her throat.

"Besides," she added, trying and failing to sound casual, "the coffee would've been wasted otherwise." The excuse was terrible and she knew it as a faint warmth crept into her cheeks before she tilted her head. "Let me ask you something." Her eyes met his. "If it had been me instead of you... if I was sitting in some alley all beaten up and pretending I was fine, would you have listened if I told you to mind your own business?" She raised an eyebrow. "You wouldn't have, right?" A small smile appeared. "Exactly." Shaking her head, she returned her attention to his injuries as she finished treating them. "So don't act surprised." Her voice softened. "You would've done the exact same thing."

Setting the ointment aside, Xinyi looked down to his hands and reached for one of them. Her fingers wrapped gently around his bruised knuckles as she carefully wiped away the dried blood. The sight made her chest ache. "If you can't run away next time..." she murmured quietly, eyes fixed on his hand, "...then at least don't get beaten up this badly." Her thumb brushed lightly across his knuckles. "It breaks my heart to see you like this." The confession came out so quietly it was almost lost beneath the sound of the rain. Realizing what she'd said, she immediately lowered her gaze and continued cleaning his hand as though she hadn't said anything at all and hoping he hadn't heard it. A moment later, she pointed a finger at him. "And you better start taking care of yourself." Her eyes narrowed. "I'm serious, Haoran." Then, after a brief pause, she lifted a fist in front of him, a very unimpressive fist, one that completely ruined any attempt at looking intimidating. "Because if I catch you showing up like this again, I'll be the one giving you a good beating." The threat lasted all of two seconds before she let out a quiet laugh."I have a pretty good punch, you know." She then lowered her hand and patted her chest confidently as she added with a firm nod. "And if anyone tries this again, I'll protect you."
