— HISTORY:
One of two kids born to a Shakespeare obsessed father, a professor at the local university, Ophelia and her sister were basically attached at the hip from the moment they were born. Equal parts give and take from both of them when it came to driving their dad mad with the antics that came with having twins. That only got worse when they came into their powers. Learning she could levitate things only saw the already mischievous Ophelia worse, sneaking snacks before dinner and having toys that she wasn’t allowed to have follow her out of the store. Her father told her not to lay a hand on it and she followed his rules.
The twins weren’t identical and they’d never been lumped into one person, but the older the got, the more those differences were made apparent. Ophelia never had the best grades, she was always getting in trouble with her teachers for not paying attention in class. Instead, she was doodling in the margins of her notebooks and daydreaming. Her sister had quickly proven that she was the golden girl, whereas Ophelia would lose control over her powers when she was lost in her thoughts and the items on her desk would begin floating until she was brought harshly back down to earth when a pen poking her side.
Her magic was all fun and games until she was eleven and her cosmokinesis manifested. The range on it wasn’t very big yet, the skill she possessed was next to nothing but all morning, she’d had a headache and when she went to school, she started hearing the thoughts of everyone around her. She was brought home from school early, though driving through the town to get home was the last straw for her. The pain had her shattering windows and, despite her father’s insistence she go to the hospital, her powers took control over the car and some part of her directed them towards camp. She left her sister behind at school that day and she didn’t come back.
Camp was an interesting time. She wasn’t claimed until she was thirteen, the very latest she could be claimed by her mother. Her cosmokinesis manifested at a rapid pace and she required special lessons with the activities director at camp to learn how to quiet the voices she was hearing and learn to better control her powers. Those were the first lessons she actually focused on, because they were the first ones that mattered. She stayed at camp until she was eighteen, though would often visit home and see her dad.
When she was sixteen, she went on a quest, the first one at camp in over thirty years. The two other campers she chose, she chose strategically, though one of them also happened to be a boy she had a crush on. She hadn’t even considered bringing her sister along. The quest was successful, despite the third camper, a friend, dying during it. Her her plan to get a boyfriend had worked, given that they trauma bonded seeing a friend die, but her focus, much like when she studied, was on someone else soon enough.
Word about Eonia had spread throughout camp when she was getting ready to leave, almost like she’d willed it into existence herself and the next day, she was on a flight out to Greece (but didn’t ask Zeus for safe passage). She’s well aware of her capabilities and what she can and can’t handle when it comes to classes, so she’s been moving very slowly when it comes to graduating.
— PERSONALITY:
Ophelia is a self proclaimed space cadet. She trails off frequently and forgets her train of thought, sometimes remembering what she was thinking about seconds after and sometimes not remembering until a day later. She’s very bright, bubbly and a lot of people mistake her to be the stereotypical blonde. At camp, people often thought her to be a daughter of Aphrodite but when she showed them her powers and, more specifically, how strong they were, the mistake was never made again. On any given day, she’s got a bit of attitude, sometimes unlikeable but most just consider her an acquired taste and once she gets along with someone, there’s really no problems but the few people that have gotten on her bad side have seen things that no person would want to see. When she’s angry, she almost never holds back how she feels and has been known to temporarily gift those who anger her with powers that mimic hers so they can understand exactly what she’s going through. There’s never any remorse.
— POWERS:
MYSTIOKINESIS — it was a shock to her one day, waking up and realizing she was magic. There were some references to old television shows as she figured it out, doing the Bewitched nose wiggle or Sabrina’s iconic finger while casting spells that were more like phrases as she tried to figure out her powers. There were things floating (and falling to the floor, where they broke), and her using her magic to turn on all the lights in the house when she woke up from a nightmare, convinced there was a monster under her bed. But as she got older, the powers developed more and her Cosmokinesis began to appear. Hearing the thoughts of people around her, feeling what they felt all the time because she didn’t know how to turn it off drove her to a breakdown. There was glass shattering from her screams and when her father tried to take her to the hospital, he lost control of the car and drove her to camp instead.
LIMITED NECROMANCY — Fate giveth and fate taketh away. In order for her mystiokinesis powers to be what they were in the first place, the scales had to be tipped to an even playing field. The most she’s ever been able to bring a person back for was seven minutes (and counting) and using the power once gives her a recharge on it of a few days, usually. If she’s really pressed, she can use it more frequently but the more she uses it, the longer it takes to charge again and the less time the person stays with them.
MIST CONTROL — People see what they want to see. The human mind will go to great lengths to avoid having to come up with a proper solution to whatever improper thing they just witnessed. Ophelia is more than a little willing to help them out. It’s not something that affects her much in everyday life but she’s had to use it before, like when she was on a quest and her magic got the windows of a shop blown out while tracking the monster and a human saw it. One little snap of her fingers and the shop window was back in place. The next snap, the human forgot he had seen anything in the first place.
— MISCELLANEOUS:
She didn’t put two and two together fast enough and, given that she wasn’t claimed until she was thirteen at camp, she would often try to use her necromancy to bring her mother back to life, since she was told from childhood her mother died giving birth to her and her sister. It never worked.
Hecate waited until the twins were back together to claim them.
She’s very close with her father, despite feeling like she’s not the favorite, and visits home frequently.
She’s an honorary Dite according to Iker.
The camp in Iceland had less than fifty campers and she at least kissed half of them.
She felt incredibly guilty after her friend died on the quest and used her necromancy to bring her back, but it only lasted thirty seconds.
With her cosmokinesis, she tends to manipulate the world around her to give herself the best setting. On a romantic date, she once brought down a shooting star, just so she could have a kiss underneath it.
Her cosmokinesis is a power she generally doesn’t use. It’s mostly for personal gain when she does use it but that’s very rare.
She tends to have bruises all over her body from injuring herself. She doesn’t know how or when the injuries happened.
