✶ jealous!jing yuan
jealous!jing yuan who smiles too easily when others speak to you, the kind of smile polished enough to hide the storm underneath. later, when the evening lanterns burn low, he adjusts your cloak himself and asks if you enjoyed the attention in a tone far too gentle. the question matters more than he lets on. jealous!jing yuan who never interrupts, only watches from across the courtyard while rain gathers along the stone paths. his gaze follows every laugh you give away so carelessly. when you return to him, he offers his hand as though he had never doubted you would. jealous!jing yuan who grows quieter instead of colder. he sits beside you on the balcony at dusk, shoulder warm against yours, and says nothing for so long that silence becomes apology and accusation both. then he rests his head briefly against yours, choosing closeness over pride. jealous!jing yuan who asks small questions with dangerous softness. who was that. how long have you known them. did they make you laugh often. he pours tea between each one, steam rising like patience wearing thin. jealous!jing yuan who dislikes how transparent love has made him. once, nothing reached him unless he allowed it. now one careless touch from someone else on your sleeve can ruin the shape of his whole afternoon. jealous!jing yuan who finally confesses it in the dark, voice low and almost amused at himself. he says he does not fear losing battles, only losing places he has come to call home. then his fingers find yours beneath the blanket and stay there till morning.
