Since this is such a popular topic... I like the aggressive attitude behind the lets-go-for-it on 4th and 1; however, the running play called was a poor decision and they would have been better off with a 4 point lead. With respect to the running play called, the Denver @Broncos (quite obviously before and after the @ClevelandBrowns timeout) were anticipating an interior run - quarterback sneak or not. Any type of misdirection play that looked like the start of an interior run would have been a better call. Plus, it was a slower developing play in the backfield. I understand the logic of giving the offensive line time to open up holes in the defense, but you drastically increase the chance the play is going to get blown up for a loss - and you only needed 1 yard. With respect to not kicking the field goal (again, I like the aggressiveness behind the 4th down attempt), kicking the field goal would have been a much better call. First and foremost, it’s a chip shot from the 10 yard line (27 yard field goal) so it is extremely likely the Browns put 3 points on the door to put them up by 4. That necessitates Denver driving a likely 75 yards for a touchdown in 1:49 with no timeouts. That might be plenty of time for Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady, but they were up against Case Keenum. Instead, you gave Denver the ball at the Denver 10 yard line only needing 55 yards in the same amount of time to safely be in field goal range. That would put the ball at the Cleveland 35 for a 52 yard field goal, which is like a 47 yard field goal due to Mile High Stadium actually being 1 mile above sea level. A horrible game management decision that I haven’t heard or seen mentioned. Denver had the ball at the 50, 1st and 10, with 0:53 seconds on the clock when Keenum spikes the ball to stop the clock at 0:52. Denver only needed 15 yards to be in decent field goal range for the win. At this point, downs and yardage are infinitely more important than saving 4 to 6 seconds while you call a pass play at the line of scrimmage. It's a nice change to know the Browns are in the playoff hunt this late in the season even if the odds are less than 2%. #Cleveland #Browns #Broncos #Denver #NFL https://www.instagram.com/p/BrdagfGA3Xp/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=c0g2l1gm1z2u
