Mexico’s very own media princess might have surprised the entire country two years ago when she released her first studio album “AMOVER”, but no one was expecting her to come out on national TV earlier this year.
The two-time GRAMMY Award winner gave a heart felt but powerful statement on one of her home city’s main (owned by her family) networks just days after receiving her awards, explaining that, after a “long period of darkness and anguish”, she met “an incredible person”. Up until then, it seemed like the typical sweet (but heteronormative) story where the man comes and saves his damsel in distress, but to the surprise of many, the next words to come out of her mouth were: “I met her in the park.” Confirming that her prince charming was, in fact, a princess. A few stunned seconds later, Carvajal looked bravely into the camera and said “I’m in love with a woman. And that woman’s name is Juliana Valdés” instantly breaking thousands of hearts, but giving hope to millions at the same time. When the interview concluded, Carvajal left the studio and refused to give any more exclusives.
