Harley: If you mean the burn, well yeah I've burnt myself. But the other thing- has happened since. I guess I wouldn't know if it had though.

Esme: Yeah, I meant the other thing. I'm sorry about the burns, but I guess that sorta comes with what you do?

Esme: Let's just hope it was a one-time thing then.

Esme: Oh, don't worry, I'm sure anyone would've done the same. How are you, though? Nothing similar has happened again, has it? Do you even know what it was?

Esme: You don't have to answer the last question if you don't wanna tell, I'm sorry if I was being too nosy.

Oh, what does that mean?

Yeah, but it’s also sometimes written horizontally, left to right like English. I’m not very good at reading or writing Japanese, though. I’m probably at like, an eight-year-old’s reading level.

Don’t they have multiple alphabets too? Their education sounds really intense.

I’m Back!

I learned a little bit… Mostly basic stuff like different greetings, but I made some friends who tried to teach me a bit more. Ummmmmm…  Jsi krásná

Japan? That’s really cool! I think it’d be really confusing there, because don’t they write top to bottom there? Or am I thinking of the wrong place? I already get lost a lot here, I’d be hopeless over there.

I was in the Czech Republic! It was really cool like, there were a lot more statues just around, and the buildings! The buildings we’re really cool. They were a lot older and just like, cool looking.

Have you traveled very much?

I’ve, um, I go to Japan, every two years, to visit family. So I’ve been around there a lot, but I haven’t travelled much to other places.

I was an exchange student for a little while. It was amazing. When your in another country you like, expect some things to be different, but you usually only think of things like food or language. But there’s actually a lot of little things day to day that are different too.

It was all too much. The lights were too bright, the voices in the crowd around her muddling together into an unintelligible mess, she couldn't breathe. The room was spinning, and the tips of her fingers were tingling – Esme had to get out. Her eyes scanned over the room, stopping at the nearest exist. She urried through the crowd, trying not to bump into people but probably failing – it was all a blur at this point.

Finally reaching the exit, Esme opened the door. To her relief, the corridor seemed empty. Walking through the corridor, she turned just around the corner and leaned against the wall, grabbing her necklace and trying to remember the breathing exercises she’d been learning for a while. Sometimes they helped her; sometimes they didn’t. Inhale-two-three-four-five, hold-two-three-four-five-six-seven, exhale-two-three-...

It is pretty terrifying. Didn’t join at all last year ‘cause I was to scared, but this year I finally managed to gather the courage to join.

“Well you’re quite welcome.”

“Then I’ll just have to make sure I make time to get my Legally Blonde on. I think I’d blend in quite nice.” Snorting a bit at his own pun, he got animated quickly. “Really? Favorite songs? I have to admit, Rent the movie is just as good as the play, and I’ve seen it on broadway like… seven times now. Who doesn’t love a good drama with some angst?”

“Really? Ugh, I’m so jealous, I haven’t even been to Broadway at all, ever,” she frowned.

“Well, La Vie Boheme is obviously an amazing song, and so is pretty much every song in the musical. Take Me or Leave Me always has a special place in my heart, though, ‘cause it was the first one I heard. Another Day is also great. And I’ll Cover You is so adorable. And... yeah, you get the point, I love all the songs a lot. Gah, I’m terrible at favorites,” she made a face. “How about you?”
