The House That Dripped Blood (1971)

I always love an anthology but this one has Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing and Dr Who Jon Pertwee so I already knew it would be good before watching it.

At one point in Jon Pertwee's section he talks about Dracula being one of the great horror movies but only the one with Bela Lugosi not 'the new fella'. How did the writers get away with this since Christopher Lee is one of the main characters in the movie. Maybe Lee never watched the whole movie only his story and never knew that he was being made fun of.

The Balconettes/Les femmes au balcon (2024)

Denise needed to be in this movie for longer than she was because she was great.

They never show the appartment after they finished cleaning because I think they just pushed the blood around. Nothing they did looked effective in cleaning it all up.

Why did she feel the need to stitch the tip of the penis back on? They cut him into pieces later anyway.

My Bloody Valentine (1981)

I like the use of the washing machine for a body reveal which another that I can think of doing well was in identity but how did the door of the machine open on its own.

How come the current day miners in the movie no longer need to wear respirators while they are working? Wouldn't catch me down a mine without a respirator how long before you end up wearing an oxygen mask constantly because of the damage from breathing in all that dust.

This town has such ugly valentines decorations so yes mayor you should tear them all down.

This is one of those movies where I don't understand the ages of the characters. I think they are supposed to be teenagers but for many reasons they obviously are not.

The giggle at the end as he runs away always cracks me up it is too ridiculous.

Summer of 84 (2018)

Not as good as 'The Burbs' (1989) in my opinion.

Wowwwww there is a cop who covers up his crimes by incriminating and arresting some innocent guy and he is a violent person so colour me shocked. So unexpected anyway........... ACAB always.

Sleepless/ Non ho Sonno (2001)

The opening kills were great like the train chase and how did he even get on the train and know which train she was on?

Unfortunately it does go downhill a bit after the opening section. It was also unfortunately too obvious in my opinion who the killer was from too early on.

Silver Bullet (1985)

I don't particularly care for werewolf movies but anyway. I really liked Marty and Jane's sibling dynamics/relationship. They could be sweet, annoying, lovely or shitheads to each other at times but they felt so real and actual siblings. Maybe that's just me basing it off my experience with my sister though but many movies really suck an showing a sibling relationship and making it believable.

Bride of Chucky (1998)

On rewatch this time I noticed that in the opening scene that in the police station there are the masks of Jason and Michael as well as Bubba's chainsaw and Freddy's glove. Is this implying that they are all in the same universe? Also if they are all from those slashers are they all dead or imprisoned for those items to be in police custody? None of them were in the same areas of the US anyway I don't even think any of them were set in the same states so why would all the evidence end up in the same precinct? Even if they are items from copycats and not the 'real' Jason, Freddy, Bubba and Michael it still suggests that those events exist in the Chucky universe.

Flatliners (1990)

Why does it look like a warzone outside this church there is always fire burning when we see the front of it but it only seems to be undergoing standard renovations so I can't make any sense of it.

I have no sympathy for any of these characters (not even Randy because he is fully participating and enabling throughout even though he doesn't flatline himself). The stakes are also not high enough because I truly do not care what happens to these characters (although I think that I would have preferred a one-by-one deaths of them from succumbing to what they are experiencing).

The Baby (1973)

Poor 'baby' (who never actually gets a proper name) not one single person in this movie genuinely cares about his wellbeing. All the adults who interact with him are abusing him and anyone not directly involved in his care doesn't care enough to intervene in his daily abuse to free him.

The Crazies (1973)

Classic tale of a military completely screws shit up then tries to cover it up. There is also a lot of shoot first ask questions later/if ever (plus the military want to drop a nuclear weapon on this town).

They keep saying that this is a highly contagious virus so why is their plan to corral all of the citizens in the town into one place (the high school). The point of a quarantine is to seperate to prevent spread of the virus.

Visually I loved this movie but the plot was insane with everyone getting more and more deranged throughout the movie.

Patrick (1978)

As a physio I have never seen that type of gait aid that the old man has at the beginning of the movie. Don't get me started on the 1970s manual handling that I saw here. I teach manual handling so many things that would lead to injuries, think of your backs please.

Why did the matron have to lump us lesbians in with necrophiliacs and pedos like they are super bad lesbians are not in the same category one bit.

Lifeforce (1985)

They keep calling them vampires which I get because of the draining of people's lifeforce but it also seems kind of zombie like to me how they rise from the dead all withered and undead.

Razorback (1984)

I really like John Howard (the actor not the politician, I hate the former PM a lot) as an actor and even though this is a small role in the movie he always has such a presence when he is in scenes.

Blood rage AKA Nightmare at shadow woods (1987)

This mother is so fucked up for starters don't keep your kids in the back of the car while you make out with your boyfriend.

Karen's just going to leave Todd there the poor guy is 100% going to get blamed for the murders and locked away again. As if the cops will believe him and he's never even killed anyone.

Blue Sunshine (1977)

I was cracking up everytime there was a close up of the eyes of one of the people who go bald and violent the expressions they made were so funny to me.

Part of the plot involves a political campaign and in the last scene a speech is playing which the candidate says 'make america great again' which in the 70's probably didn't mean much but in 2026 it was jarring to hear that pop up when you aren't expecting it.
