Hiii I do have some tips!
IMO working big (like 18x24â) if you can manage that helps a lot with loosening your grip as you draw. It lets you make long sweeping motions with your arm rather than small feathery strokes with your wrist that I find builds line confidence and prevents you from getting tunnel vision on a small page
Also donât look at your page so much! Focus on the model and how you might translate their silhouette onto paper. I think that paying a lot of attention to negative space rather than just form helps you understand how big things are in relation to one another as youâre drawing, and how accurately youâre copying angles. I tend to turn the model into a cookie cutter shape when Iâm looking, and ensure that the cookie cutter fits well around the figure on my page
I donât spend a lot of time doing facial expressions or like trying to draw nipples correctly lol I think if youâre doing quick gestural figure drawing thatâs not as important as the body as a whole
Timing yourself is also necessary sometimes to make sure youâre not dwelling on imperfections, erasing, etc . You can do like 5 minute sessions before moving to another page or even like 30 seconds to make a few necessary lines that you think make up the figure
Also use the whole page when you drawww donât draw the figure in the corner use up all the space! And sometimes it works better to orient your page horizontally, it just depends on what the model is doing and how you want to compose the drawing
