I’m trying to get her to run antivirus software, and she let someone shady on Craigslist “fix” her computer because she can’t work with her brain damage and she’s got nobody there to work with her on disability paperwork.

This has been a very very long term frustration for us, (her inability to get help and me to help with tech stuff) and even if the potential to be unbanned was available I don’t think I would let her take it till we find out what has been done to her computer that makes this happen.

My biggest frustration is probably that Aywas is pretty much her emotional support animal.

I won’t pretend I know their situation the way you do, just as you don’t know what I know from my side of things - but I assure you we have never, ever banned anyone without genuine piles of damning evidence that what a person has done is a pattern of behaviour over an extensive amount of time. Every single time. We’re not talking one mistake, or even one hundred, it’s… Our investigations are long, and frankly damaging to the economy because of what these people can do in the time it takes for us to build what we feel is a concrete case.

I fully appreciate that you are on your friend’s side. I understand, and I’m not angry at you for it. I’m hurt at the way you went about it with that post, and my response wasn’t the right way to go about it either, and I apologise but I saw so much red and my fingers forgot to stop.

But please, please realise that this was not a hasty decision by any means, and if we did not 100% believe that something was being done in a way that is not permitted then your friend would not be banned.

I don't often talk about Aywas, but when I do

It's when my friend with motor skill impairing brain damage gets banned for botting when she accidentally hit f5 once a couple days after Christmas.

As a disabled member of staff I’m insulted that you would not only insinuate, but believe, that we would ever act against a member of our site for not being able bodied or neurotypical.

Additionally we have never banned someone for “accidentally hitting f5″, that’s just ridiculous hyperbole and this entire things reflects badly not only on you but on your friend if that’s even close to what they’re telling people happened.

Good lord... “I was banned because I’m disabled and I hit F5 accidentally” ... how in the everloving fuck does that even sound like a legitimate response to being banned?

Additionally, if any of you took 2 seconds to put your ass in Adventure and hit F5, you’d see it does bugger all other than - shocking, I know - refresh the page! How on earth would that ever trip up anything tracking botters on Adventure?

The games are literally being worked on in the background almost constantly - we’re always testing, analysing, discussing, and working on the flash games so we can have a strong release. I’d say more but I don’t want to trap Yasu or anyone else into having to stand by things I said without complete forethought but... oh man... not forgotten.

like, i get that aywas’s whole deal is the customs, and breeding is its main featyre. but it’s absolutely true that the site cant afford to pay for the level of quality that players expect while also maintaining the rest of the site too

and thats a major problem built into tbe system. without a manor change to the system of breeding and customs, the site will slowly drain its resources and die, despite effort to save it with black friday and mayday sales

and with a major change, the site loses whats quickly becoming the only developed site feature, after the rest of the site was neglected for years due to lack of funds

i dunno if you can save this one. prolong its life a bit longer, maybe. but the site’s Biggest Feature and Biggest Source of Income is built on broken foundations, and someday that foundation will give way

The money we make just about covers that, and a few extra USD lists when we can afford it.

Our main problem is that the comm panel took away our primary source of income (GP sales), and too many people don't pay their comm panel fees, and can't be coerced to do so.

We do not make the money we made 5 years ago. We never will - no one does, not a single pet site. From what I’ve heard we're all struggling, it's just a matter of which ones have made you aware of it, and which are keeping it tightly under wraps. Due to users begging us to be transparent, we’re open with you that we do not have the money we used to.

We would love to be able to completely revitalise breeding, cut down the turnaround time, etc, but as the artists have commented several times on previous ACs, the reason that no one wants to work for breeding is because there are too many users who are toxic and abusive regarding breedings, and that the hassle and therapy fees isn't worth it.

We understand that we have a very big problem, but it’s far bigger than “just” money. Until certain parts of the userbase comes to understand that they are being detrimental to not just the health of the site, but the very real mental health of our artists, there is nothing we can do and no amount of money we can throw at our problems that would fix them.

Most of the bans

It’s funny because of how aggressive one staff member was about the bans and causing a panic. It seems almost everyone if not everyone recently banned for botting all used the easier adventuring. I also find it very hard to believe any staff member took the time to try to get the numbers some users had. Most of the admins are 100% MIA at the moment. Either make it clear that something is okay or not, this wouldn’t be the first time you say something is fine and it turns out not to be.

And if I’m aggressive it’s because this happens every time someone gets caught. They insist that it’s something wrong with the site, or stylish, or they’re just “that fast”. Usually when we ask for detailed explanations of how they did it in order to recreate it they come up with something that is debunked very quickly by multiple people, or they stop replying at all. Most that continue emailing will eventually admit that they were botting but they “didn’t think it was that serious” and make a series of promises that they will never do it again if we let them back.

Only one person has ever publicly stood up and admitted that we were right to ban them - most just continue to blame the site, stylish, or that they are “just that fast” and cause panic amongst other people who use stylish with a fast connection and whatever input method the person is blaming this time.

So if I seem a little cold, or a little fed up, understand that it’s from seeing how this plays out every time, how it plays out identically every time.

Please be wary using the ugly but easier adventure script

This is Pasha #22059 I have used the ugly but easier adventure script for years with no problems but recently I was banned for bot like numbers. I have very fast internet (50 mbps+ at times) and manually click as quickly as I can when adventuring with the script. I was banned out of the blue with no warning. I tried to appeal but sadly staff were unable to recreate my numbers so the ban will not be lifted at this time. Since staff couldn’t recreate my numbers hopefully most users using the script will be safe, however since I WAS able to have these numbers just using the script I believe it must be possible for some others. The script is wonderful and really helps make adventure easier but I implore other users to recognize the danger in using it and be careful.

I can assure everyone that using Stylish will not get you banned. If it did then I would be the only person left on staff because I am the only member of staff that does not use it - and I assure you, were a staff member at any point even possibly doing something they shouldn’t then Yasu would inform myself or Kai immediately and their position would be forfeit while we investigated.

Please don’t use scaremongering tactics to try and minimise that you were caught with piles of data that you were doing something you shouldn’t - whether you wish to admit to it or not.

i promise i swear you can ask my husband who watches me adventure i don’t bot. i wouldn’t know how please.  i use the styler recode but that was confirmed as being okay.  

i don’t have any friends.  i can’t get a job.  i live over ten hours from anyone else i know.  for the longest time all i had was aywas and now i don’t know what to do please.

i spend almost all my free time adventuring.  i click really fast because i’ve been doing it for years.  i’ll make a video and send it to you i promise.  i’ve gone through two mice in the past three years and started using the track pad about a month ago so i wouldn’t ruin my new mouse.

if this is because i’ve made too much adventuring lately i’ll stop adventuring, or only for an hour a day or whatever it takes.

If this is because i threw away all those items i didn’t realise it was too much to toss at once.  i usually keep a better eye on my bag it had never been full before so it took me a few minutes during adventuring to notice.  Usually i have less than 10k to toss, i didn’t know it was too much.

if it’s the alchemy i just wanted to try and get some SP and i’d been in the forest for a long time i just had a lot of those.  

If it’s the times i’m on i have a hard time sleeping and most Friday nights i can’t sleep at all so i put something on and just sit and adventure until my husband wakes up and i know you can’t confirm with him then that i’m actually clicking but i swear to you and i’ll do anything i can to prove to you that i would not and never could do that.

There is a huge difference between clicking fast and botting.

Using your trackpad is not botting.

Taking advantage of unlimited dumping with a premium account is not botting: it’s using a premium feature.

Using alchemy as the game intends is not botting.

Thought I’d clear that up before anyone freaks out and assumes that any of that constitutes as botting in any shape or form.

Unfortunately posts like this do tend to do little more than upset people who will now think that any of the normal things you mentioned are going to get them banned. It causes a flurry of panic, and then we’re spending time we don’t have to spare on reassuring people that they’re not going to get banned for trashing too many items, for example.

I obviously cannot comment on your ban further in public, but if you’ve sent an email then that will be processed when it’s seen - we get a lot of emails, most things that shouldn’t even be emailed in about, sadly, which tends to slow a lot of the genuine processes down.

Re: the "illegal in any way" post

Whoever submitted that actually had a good point. There are items/pets that explicitly reference drug use. (These are site pets/items, and I’ve seen a lot more customs)

Psychoactive mushrooms (psilocybin) aren’t legal anywhere in the USA. It’s a Schedule I drug. Opiates and cocaine are only Schedule II. So, technically a user could submit a pet shooting up heroine or snorting a line. So…. Why are drugs the only exception to the legality clause?

So… as long as the item/pet isn’t LABELLED as a drug, it’s cool? A hypodermic needle isn’t necessarily illegal after all, nor is having a glassy-eyed expression. Nor is having white powder all over your nose with a line of it on the ground.

Rows of white powder and white powder on the pet’s nose is very obvious.

I mean really, just ask us? That’s the entire point of the crystal check, it’s the reason my PM inbox is always open. If you’ve drawn something and you don’t know if it’s acceptable… ASK.
