Instagram, Rise to Fame for some Imagery!

Instagram became extremely popular when it first came out in 2010 because it was a social media platform mainly for images to be shared that are taken on your phone which attracted everyone to it because visuals attract us a lot more.

I find that Instagram is a good platform to promote events because it allows possible attendees to visualise the event. Other platforms are more explanatory, they use descriptive words to help you imagine what the event would look like but with Instagram a photograph speaks a thousand words PLUS you can add a caption for any additional information or links needed.

Personally I have used Instagram for promoting an event and it really helped spread the word of the event. The only problem with Instagram is it mainly relies on how many followers you have unless people share it. Otherwise I definitely recommend Instagram even though I’m a little bit biased considering I use Instagram 10 times as much and Facebook or Twitter. :’)

Twitter, Lost in the Midst of Time, Or Worth My Time!

Twitter became popular because it has a high level of user control, it’s simple and easy to use and it is basically like sending a text message but to everyone that follows you or more.

Twitter is meant to be the perfect platform for promoting events because it has really high engagement rates and global reach which means increasing sales, awareness and gain the most traction with targeted audiences.

Personally, I’ve never really used Twitter because I never got into it and nobody I knew used it, I have an account and I used it a bit when I was younger but stopped. From my research about Twitter I’ve learned Twitter is “THE” platform for events therefore I should probably catch up with the rest of the world and get on Twitter. :)

Pompeii, a city frozen in time!

I came across this event on Eventbrite tonight and it caught my eye because when I was in primary school I done a project on Pompeii and have been interested in the topic ever since.

This event is a virtual guide which teaches you about Pompeii Ruins which were built 2,000 years ago and you get taken on a journey into the history, time and lives of the city’s inhabitants.

The booking process was very easy as I found the event on Eventbrite, clicked register and entered my email (it was a free event, so no payment details required). From there I received an email confirming my purchase and then an email before the event began with a link to join.

This event was very interesting as it gave an insight into what it was like when Mount Vesuvius erupted and what Pompeii looked like before and after. I got to enjoy this experience from the comfort of my own home with my sister which made it that much more enjoyable.

The only thing about this event that could have been better was the fact that there were a couple technical difficulties but nothing too bad.

Overall, I think it was worth attending this event and a very interesting experience.

Facebook through a Gen Z’s eyes!

Facebook is a website that became popular with millenials because it was somewhere for them to communicate with current, old and far friends as well as long distance family members. It was somewhere that they could post and comment whatever they wanted to express themselves where as now we have a lot of other socials that can do this stuff therefore most people are on facebook but don’t really use it as much. 

Some of the other socials are a lot more secure and don’t use or save your data for privacy reasons.

 Facebook can be very beneficial in events as you can make a page specifically for the event and you can hold it on facebook live. 

I have never used facebook to advertise something before but I plan to advertise an event on facebook that I am planning soon as it’s a great place to spread the word.
