Here comes a written drabble gift! (TYL)
((Hello! Thank you so much for indulging me in my MoodTM by requesting for a gift! I had inspiration for this so here is a gift drabble thing with Haru and Tsuna! Hope you like it! Feel free to do with this as you like ie keep it in the inbox, post it, etc))
Being a 10th generation mafia boss wasn’t a fun walk in the park, and Haru understood this fact well. It was a dangerous path as much as it was a busy one.
Many things have changed over a decade but some things didn’t change either. No matter what happened, Tsuna remained that friend who cared very deeply for his friends, protecting them with everything he had.
Haru had recently found a scrapbook she made a few years back full of pictures of everyone in their youth. She specifically made this scrapbook focusing on the not so scary and dangerous aspects of their lives.
Years ago, she felt that something like this would be nice to have and reflect back on. The mafia world was dangerous and often times unforgiving, but there was more to their lives than the Vongola. Maybe a small percentage, but it still existed. There were times where even they could sit back and enjoy the moment for what it was.
When she was cleaning her closet, she happened to come across it, forgetting that she had stowed it away for some reason. Just the night prior she went through the book and reminisced on some old memories.
A part of her worried that Tsuna may find this to be a burden, but she wanted to show this to him. It’s… okay to take the time to think back on the past, to miss simpler times.
Arranging with Bianchi ahead of time, Haru was walked through the base and into Tsuna’s office. This was something Haru agreed to do if she wanted to be let into the base to ensure that she would always have someone protecting her as they escorted her to and from the base.
She popped her head to see the desk empty of the person who was supposed to be working there. Initially, she was confused, but she heard a quiet sound coming from the couch. ‘Ah, he’s taking a nap.’
Well deserved, obviously. On his desk was a mountain of paperwork. She was too scared to guess which side of the desk denoted the finished paperwork and which were the ones Tsuna still needed to look over.
A quick glance at her watch before she turned to Bianchi to request that she be shown to the kitchen. Who didn’t like to wake up to a small snack after a nap? If there was a list of those who didn’t, Haru knew that she wasn’t on it. She was guessing that he too wouldn’t hate it either.
It wasn’t her place to say much because he always worked hard to keep everyone safe, it would be inconsiderate of her, but she did wish that he was minding his health. Just because they were young, it didn’t mean a bad lifestyle wouldn’t catch up to him and snatch his life away. She wasn’t referring to anything related to the mafia but sleeping and eating habits.
In the kitchen, Haru prepared a few onigiri of different flavors for the napping Mafia boss. It wouldn’t be Haru if she didn’t add her own flair, right? She shaped the onigiri into a shape of a lion’s head. No one would need to explain the reference there, right?
Pieces of cut nori were used to make eyes and the mouth on the lion onigiri. Little pieces of cheese were cut and then placed on the ‘ears’. A cute masterpiece, she must say. Arranging everything onto a plate, she was escorted back to Tsuna’s office to see that he was still napping.
Quietly she snuck in and set the plate of onigiri down on a side table, stealing a post it note atop Tsuna’s desk to write a note:
“I came to visit but you were napping so peacefully I didn’t have the heart to wake you. Please make sure you eat well and rest occasionally. I prepared some onigiri as a post-nap snack! The scrap book is something I made a few years ago. I hope you like it.
Thank you for all that you do. Remember, Haru is only a call away if you want a sweet pick-me-up!
It was no secret that Haru learned how to bake due to her love of sweets. She would occasionally bring her sweet creations to share with everyone. Something they may not have known was that Haru had been conducting ‘experiments’ over the years.
Cooking and baking alike was a love language in a way, and Haru loved to express her feelings through gifts. She always observed the reactions of those who ate her creations and took notes of their likes and dislikes, creating a profile of desserts that suited each person’s tastebuds.
This was an ever-evolving profile, of course. People’s tastes are liable to change over time after all. If Tsuna were to call her to request anything in particular, Haru would be sure to deliver.
She placed the note down tensing when she heard a rustling sound to see that the small blanket that was draped over him fell to the ground. Slowly, she picked the blanket up and draped it over him again to ensure he didn’t catch a chill during his nap.
With that, Haru left the office occasionally greeting people who stopped to say hi. What she could do for everyone didn’t amount to much, but that didn’t mean she disparaged her own efforts. Though small, and perhaps even burdensome at times, she liked to drop by to check up on everyone.
