âHow much good karma do you think I can rack up by giving free kisses to lonely people tonight?â
âI donât believe in karma. I do believe in STDâs though.â
You donât have to choose between fire and ice
sadie-royale:
âItâs⌠fine.â Sadie didnât linger too long on the differences between where she was now and where she had been- she considered it too unfair to her auntâs memory to think badly at all on the time she had been with her. âHow are things here?â
âDifferent.â Everly said in traditional Everly fashion, never being one to voice her more vulnerable feelings in front of the girls. How could she tell Sadie that everyone was feeling the absence of Monique; like they were all missing a part of themselves. âChaotic more than anything. Gigi thinks sheâs going to be the new Madame.â She rolled her eyes, unable to mask how much this had gotten under her skin.Â
miss-eloise-ward:
âYes, it is real,â Eloise said, not turning to look at the person she could feel staring at the scars on her face. âNo. They donât hurt anymore.â
âSorry.â Everly mustered, unable to peel her eyes away from the scars on the girls face.Â
piratebrose:
âWell, you shouldnât worry about my judgment, then, I will hardly be a client.â He smiled softly, âYou should askââ Those were hard habits to die, how was he supposed to wrap his mind around the idea that he would never have neither of them around him? Gabeâs name got stuck on his throat, and he looked away, holding his breath. âAsk Smee.â
Everly rolled her eyes, playfully. âThereâs no shame in paying for sex, Benjamin. Itâs not going to make you any less of a pretty boy to my girls.â That was Monique used to call them â her girls. Everly went quiet for a second, her heart ached for Ben and the pain he must be feeling right now. It wasnât just Monique he had lost, but his best-friend too. âI didnât realise he was out of jail yet.â
jackson-jacobo:
JJ just smiled. âDown, fishy. I just want to talk to her, Iâm not bring her to the dark side, you can keep your girl.â
âSince when do we talk to each other.â Everly motioned between the two of them with her index finger, the Fairies and the Mermaids didnât hate each other as much as the Lost Boys and Jolly Rogers did but they weren't exactly on sleep over and braiding each others hair duties either.
sadie-royale:
âThey have more important things to worry about than my appearance. Trust me, they canât judge.â
âHow is life with Thea and Derek treating you?â
jackson-jacobo:
JJ couldnât help snorting. âYeah, itâs probably good youâre in a profession where your body does most of the talking for you. Now, Iâm here to see Renee Blackwell, is she in?â
Everly pursed her lips, twisting her lipstick down into its tube and dropping it back into her bag. âWhat do you want with Renee?â Everly would not have normally given his question a second thought, but if she was going to be the next Madame then she was going to have to start putting the girls best interest at heart.
sadie-royale:
Sadieâs eyes widened momentarily as she spotted the person who had previously been more sister to her than co-worker. Moniqueâs death had changed things for everyone, and Sadie could see in most of the girlsâ eyes that she was a pesky reminder, not a long overdue visitor. âYou look like youâve just seen a ghost.â
âThatâs because you look like one without me to help you do your make-up. Honestly, Sadie. Youâre supposed to be nursing people back to health, not scaring them half to death.â She teased in her usual tone, hoping it would trick Sadie into believing that she didnât make the hole in Everlyâs heart grow bigger every time she saw her.
piratebrose:
âIt will hardly happen.â He sighed deeply, rubbing his palms over his face â it was hard for him to find any excitement in anything lately. âBut I can pretend if itâll make you happy.â Even the wave of Everlyâs hand made his stomach clench, reminding his that it was torture to try get back there.
âWhen Iâm running this place the only people I want faking it are my girls, not my clients.â The clicking of heels against the stage echoed through the empty Lagoon; the girls left with their heads bowed and egos wounded. If Everly could not find any new talent for the Lagoon then how would she be able to run the place? Once again, Everly found herself needing to prove herself to a parental figure and this one was no longer even around to offer her praise and guidance.
piratebrose:
He sighed deeply, trying to not get set off by Everlyâs tone. âNoted.â He nodded, âNext time Iâll make sure to scream âfantasyâ, then.â
âIâll settle for a slack jaw or a crossing of your legs because youâre getting some kind of reaction down there.â Everly took a deep breath, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear and dismissing the girls on stage with a wave of her hand like she had seen Monique do many times.
jackson-jacobo:
âHey. You look great, stop fussing.â
âI know and I wasnât.â Everly added the finishing touches to her lipstick in the mirror. âI donât need a Fairy to tell me what I already know.â
sadie-royale:
Sadie rubbed at the eye makeup that she was sure already resembled a raccoonâs eyes before stopping at the door to the Grotto. Head inside, she told herself, unsure if the words actually came from her mouth or not as she stood frozen in place.Â
Everly stepped outside of the Grotto, eyes widening and a yelp catching in her throat when she almost walked into the one person she had been actively avoiding since Monique had died. Working at the Lagoon was hard but being around Moniqueâs niece was even harder.
âNiceâ He was lookig at the girls presenting themselves at the stage, but his mind was far gone, arms crossed, looking bored.
âNice?â Everly repeated, a look of disbelief crossing her face. âNice is not what guys come here for. They come here for a fantasy and nice does not scream fantasy.â She had asked Ben to help her out with this, knowing it probably would not be easy for him to be back here after losing Monique.
â BEFORE Â
Everly Pierce was a girl who liked to be in control of every situation so that she could do whatever she wanted. Her parents thought she was more trouble than she was worth, so Everly spent more time with her nanny than she did her actual family. She smoked, drank, had sex (all underage) and made it obvious just so that she would get a second glance from her parents, but had absolutely no success. Everything left her feeling emptier than before, nothing ever had the results she hoped for. At the age of eighteen, Everly took her fatherâs incredibly expensive Porsche for a test drive while drunk and ended up wrapping it around a tree. Once she was out of the hospital, her father threw her out of the house with nothing but the clothes on her back and a few dollars. All that bad behavior finally got her some attention, but it was the kind of attention that Everly hadnât expected. Sheâd spent all of those years thinking she was abandoned, but now she was totally alone. Everly was oblivious as to how to live on the streets, and one evening Monique Thiers found her in a deserted alley. Even through all the dirt on Everlyâs face, Monique could tell that she was a beautiful girl and offered her a job at her brothel. The madame became a second mother to Everly, and the Lagoon a second home (thought she would never admit it without a few drinks in her).
â AFTER Â
The war between Jolly Rogers and Lost Boys claimed the lives, innocence and even the homes of some of the residents in Neverland. Only a lucky bunch of people managed to claw their way out of the war unscathed and unharmed â Everly was one of those people. While the war might not have left Everly with any physical scars, it did leave her with a few emotional ones. Car bombings, shootings and rioting can take tolls on people differently, the toll it took on Everly made her afraid to walk the streets of Neverland alone at night. As a coping mechanism during the war, Everly began using dust as more than just a little recreational fun. When the news came of Moniqueâs health issues, Everly never expected that she would be fighting tooth and nail with Gigi for the position of Madame of The Lagoon. The idea of Everly becoming the next Madame scared her at first, not believing she could handle the job or even be the best person for itâ but the idea grew on her. Everly began to think that maybe that was why Monique had picked her out of the gutter all along, maybe this was why Monique had took her under her wing and trained her how to walk the walk and talk the talk. Maybe Monique had always intended to hand her kingdom over to Everly.
