Hello!

You can call me pretty much any variation on my username--I don't show my real name here. I'm a Magikarp trainer! I train Magikarp to jump really high and stuff. I know Rotomblr is mostly regular battlers and all, but unless I accidentally make eye contact with someone, that's just not really my cup of tea. My current Magikarp is named Pecha! He's in the pic above with me :)

The 'Magikarp trainer' thing isn't to say I'm not fond of other Pokémon--I've been raising Pokémon since I was little (and helping my dad with his work at the Pokémon Daycare,) though I was mostly a Normal type specialist as a kid. It's just that I have a favorite. There are a lot of Pokémon that come by the Magikarp pond, though! Instead of listing my party (since it's mostly one Magikarp, and said Magikarp changes a lot XP) here's some of the other friendly Pokémon I know, even if I haven't caught them.

Friendly Pokémon

-Pikachu! He's chill, especially now that I've taught him not to zap the pond. My Magikarp wasn't hurt, but he did fry a Feebas that way.

-Popplio swims by sometimes! Gives me cool shiny stuff they find.

Piplup is really energetic. Pecha is always thrilled to see them!

-Meowth, by contrast, always seems tired when I see them. They're cool, though.

-Manaphy! I don't know why such a rare and wonderful Pokémon loves the pond so much, but they float in and out from the connected rivers sometimes. A bunch of Corsola and Luvdisc follow them around like they're a celebrity, lol. Not as frequent a visitor, but always an exciting one.

Wait a sec, was said tween from Johto that kid who saved Goldenrod Radio Tower??? I feel like I remember hearing something about that, now. She was a lot more chatty to the press, they even got some actual interviews in! For some reason, I can't remember her name. Either started with a K or an L, I think. Not Sligoogling just for a Rotomblr post right now.

Yeah, pretty much! And usually I wouldn't be rude about Gym Leaders losing--happens to all of us no matter how strong, doubly so when you're challenged as often as a Gym Leader is (Something something, infinite Mankeys, infinite typewriters, it had to happen)

But there's also that difference in stakes (he would be taking that way more seriously than an average Gym Leader on an average Tuesday) + the fact it's GIOVANNI that makes it feel totally okay to say yeah. Yeah that is exactly what happened.

Wonder where that guy who beat him went. Last I heard about him he became Champion and then just... left. Has an Espeon now? Was seen in Johto at some point? But that's really just rumors I've heard. From what I understand, nobody could get him in for an interview even though everyone was clamoring for one.

Giovanni was embarrassed, at least, but I think the rest of Team Rocket kind of took it in stride considering they still wanted him back in Johto. Heard that even now he's doing... something with Team Rocket, but they have a slightly different name I can't remember. In Alola, I think? I don't know, I've been purposefully avoiding Team Rocket news for a good while now. Generally also less caught up on news in general ever since I upgraded from my Pokégear a couple years back and don't have a big radio button right there at all times

Prefacing this by saying I think Rotom are cool, but does anyone else's Rotom Phone crash whenever they see this post? I think it makes them upset :( Having to type this on my old Pokégear right now while my Rotom Phone restarts.

The thing with having grown up in Viridian City is like. You know how especially when you're really little a lot of people have a phase where they idolize their local gym leaders? And because of this I hear it used as an icebreaker a lot, especially in groups where people come from a lot of different places (Which is common in the Magikarp Jumping League!)

How do you handle that??? I really just try to be as vague as possible and go 'please don't piece together it was Giovanni please don't piece together it was Giovanni' because I don't wanna lie but if I'm entirely honest it ends up killing the mood (for obvious reasons)

It's not like I KNEW. I still couldn't wrap my head around the type charts in school--how was I supposed to know that guy was secretly running Team Rocket? All I knew was that I thought his Persian looked cool and sometimes I saw him in the Pokémon Center pretending there weren't at least 3 small children staring at him at all times.

I usually try not to think about it too hard but sometimes you just can't avoid it, y'know? It's weird. I feel so weird about it.
