the fact they're phrasing it like she's possessed all the time and not just by imu at the end is super interesting. also sets up something fun with Brook's soul-based powers, i think. if there's multiple souls in her body, who better to remove the invaders but the soul king?

reading this whole exchange i cannot get over how long he's clearly been holding onto this belief this person he cared for since she was a child killed a person he loved and how difficult it must be to think that might very well be wrong. it's gotta feel like he's lived a long life wanting to stay away from someone who may actually have needed him the whole time

am really enjoying how conflicted Brook is here i feel like we don't usually see him this at a loss for what to do

i like that all the strawhats, despite clearly wanting to leave Gunko frozen and feeling that to be the better option, are still willing to sit here and listen to Brook sort through his tangled thoughts on her still being alive and hear out whether or not he believes they should revive her

the fact the knights seemingly don't age at all is so fascinating i am excited to see why that is

the newest episode of One Piece was Robin reuniting w Saul, and i've been thinking about Brook in that scene in a new light after the start of this flashback. Brook has clearly lost so many people, and i'm sure the thought of getting even one of them back must've crossed his mind (coulda crossed the minds of any strawhats in that moment). and he seems to have got one, but probably the only one he wouldn't have wanted

honestly i was half hoping they wouldn't ever show us his eyes, but it's also very fun to see them so im not complaining

he's. definitely going to have that scar by the end of the flashback tho, i'm sure. i wonder if gunko/shuri was the one who gave it to him? i have to assume so with what information we currently have, though obviously i have no idea if we'll see more people become demonically possessed besides her

i am excited to see how/why Brook survives and the king, queen, and most citizens assumably do not. i am hoping yorki shows up and is part of why Brook makes it off the doomed island, because i want more yorki always. aus are already in my brain

frankly the thing that's fucking me up most out of everything is that he's younger than me. we went so far back that i am older than the version of Brook we're seeing. i started reading this series when i was 13, so its always sort of surprising to realize im older than a character now, but older than Brook?????
