Blaze looked at Shadow, absolutely stunned. “My zone is doing fantastic in comparison to yours.” She said. She closed her eyes in pain just thinking about this. And to think that she was stressed out over her world. At least Nega hadn’t killed anyone.

“I do not understand, Shadow.” She said. “Why is your world in such danger? What has happened?”

{Fantastic. The word perked his ears up. Quite a summary. He'd hoped for the best and surprisingly she'd given it. Frankly he was a bit jealous. Maybe someday his would return to that state.}

An incredibly strong energy monster happened, with added bonuses of the Chaos Emeralds being useless and the planet being a jigsaw puzzle.

{He wanted to add a 'we're working on it' but that technically wasn't true. At the moment they were just trying to stay alive and keep safe any civilians they came across. That wasn't exactly working on a fix for the situation.}

Shadow has a fondness for certain aspects of nature. Maria’s love for Earth was infectious and they would often go through books about plants and such together.

Once on Earth if he ever needed a quiet space to think he would head to whichever forest was nearby. The soundscape was calming, and the plant life fascinating. How come he could never get a flowerbed growing on the ARK?

Currently nature is the last thing on his mind, but the dead roof-garden plants still get to him. Sometimes he’ll come across a few that have managed to survive. The nostalgia is a nice feeling.

Blaze gave him a look of mild disgust. “Well, I apologize for not being the open book you wish me to be.” She said, continuing to walk again. “Frankly, not everything is your business.”

She took a deep breath in while Shadow introduced himself. “It is nice to meet you. I…apologize for my mood. I suppose I am more on edge than I thought. How bad have the casualties been, if I may inquire that?”

{The apology was appreciated, though he made no move to show so. Actions spoke louder than words and she had yet to prove she meant it.}

I don't know the numbers worldwide but here in Empire City we lost most of downtown in the first month. Almost all a direct result of ignoring the nightly warnings.

{He seemed irritated when he spoke of the ignorant people, but the slight lowering of his ears proved that he truly did care. After giving Blaze the situation his arms fell back to his sides, crimson eyes expectant as he asked her a question in return.}

May I ask how your zone is doing?

Blaze stopped and looked at Shadow. “Casualties—?” She asked. “What are you talking about?” She looked down and said: “I am Blaze the Cat. I am not from here, so I am not sure my presence is needed for your headcount.”

{Rather than stop when she did, Shadow continued a pace ahead and spun around to face her. Easier to talk this way instead of having to look to the side every time. Then came those key words. He crossed his arms. Those words that would have saved him a lot of trouble.}

{He let that sink in before continuing.}

Good to have a name, Blaze. I'm sure you know what casualties are. This zone has some during the night though we try to keep them as low as possible. I am Shadow by the way.

Blaze looked up at this red and black hedgehog with a look of confusion and of somewhat disgust. She felt weird that he would inquire such a thing. As if it was any of his business.

“Because I chose to be.” She said, somewhat harshly as she kept walking. She had met alternates of this hedgehog before, but never had they greeted her like this.

{Rude. Well, somewhat. It really wasn't his problem if she wanted to go alone. Still, he wouldn't leave her so soon, even if it was obvious she wanted him too. She wouldn't last long if she wouldn't work with others. When she passed him he followed her, keeping within a few paces.}

Apologies if I came off rude. I understand working alone, but it's not best choice. We don't need any more casualties. In the spirit of trying to keep a headcount going, can I at least have something to call you before you brush me off so quickly?

{At first it was just a blink and a dead stare from Shadow. He dealt with unexpected all the time, but this was a kind he wasn't familiar with. Rouge would have contacted him before arriving. Or so he thought. Clearly this was wrong and he would have to amend his information. Once that thought processed his stare softened into a warm smile. As long as they steered clear of the 'touchy subject' he would remain civil towards her.}

Good to see you, Rouge. How have you been?

{It was a simple question but the answer would always mean a lot to Shadow. He hadn't spoken to her in person for months and her status would be an important thing to know. Was she sleeping okay? Did she have difficulty finding supplies? How was her emotional state?}

{Was this girl out looking for supplies? There were any number of reasons for being outside, but that was the most likely. He also noted that she was alone. Even during the day the buddy system was the best route to go in case one got injured. Did she not realize that? Or did she have a reason for going solo? The cement clicked as he walked over to her.}

{The norm was probably to ask for a name first, but socializing was never one of Shadow's strong points. Also getting straight to the point would yield an answer quicker than fluffing up a conversation with small talk.}

I'm not dead! Even though it may have seemed like it after so freaking long I swear I am still among the living. And slowly gaining this muse back. He bugs me occasionally and now I'm attempting to pull him back into the spotlight.

I do need to know something from my followers though. Because I was gone so long, our threads are a bit of an issue. We can either pick them back up or drop them (and possibly start a new one). Inbox me your decision okay? We'll talk it over.

The English language doesn't have the correct words for how sorry I am for vanishing for so long. I fully intend to bring this blog back to life. Not day to day life as I have college classes now, but life all the same. I'm sorry you all had to put up with my disappearance.

{Hmm? Pink? Shadow's gaze was grabbed by the color he had seen just down the road. Keeping a tight grip on his supply bag he ran over to the source, dead skates thumping against the concrete. Down a block, avoide the fallen lamppost, just around that corner, oh! He recognized the source of the color! A small smile appeared on Shadow's muzzle at the sight of the girl.}

Ah, Amelia. Just the person I was hoping to see. So where is our supply run going to be today?

{He always did let her choose because she was better at finding some supplies than he was. Weapons and technology? Leave it to Shadow. Food and water? Eh, not so much. That was where Amy came in and he was content with following along.}

I've already found a suitable location for scrap metal several blocks south of here so all we need currently is food.

She knew that something was wrong with this zone the moment she’d portkeyed into it. It was dark, and a sense of danger was coming from everywhere. There was also a sense of the presence of a great power—something that might be considered nearly god-like in her home zone. She needed to find a resident of this zone—hopefully one that wasn’t a threat—who could fill her in on what was happening. She needed to help this zone desperately, but first, she’d need to know what the problem was.

So, she had begun to walk around—almost jog, really—in attempt to locate someone, her fur bristling the longer the sense of danger stayed. She eventually noticed the outline of someone she thought looked familiar, but her thoughts on him were interrupted by a sudden sharp sense of immediate danger—nearly blocking out all the others—and whatever threatening creature the sense was coming from, was right behind her. On instinct, she generated a flame and began to turn to attack said creature, but a bullet beat her to it—undoubtedly fired by the seemingly familiar person. She jumped at how close it had been to her—though it had hit the creature—but also at how familiar that voice was. Yes, it was another Shadow—more than likely an alternate. He didn’t sound too happy with her.

She turned back to him and extinguished her flame, the sense of danger now fading back to its original state. Her ears folded back slightly in nervousness of his frustrated glance, and she spoke up to him, heading over as she did so, “I-I’m sorry..! I don’t usually have a need for carried weapons.. U-um, could you tell me what’s happened here..? I’m afraid I’m not from this zone..”

”..B-but I do wish to help you, whatever the problem may be..!!”
