I understand people have this knee jerk reaction right now to post things and say "no one cared when President Obama or bush or Clinton, etc did the same or similar thing with such and such action". They are trying to defend their own party actions by saying this party is no different. I get it. What I don't understand is why there is no room for us to grow as a nation. Just because we stood by and did not shout when a previous cabinet signed some action, doesn't mean we aren't allowed to grow and be outraged by that same action today. That would merely be taking this country backwards in time. I think it is great that so many people have woken up and found something inside themselves that makes them want to finally speak out about injustices. Look, I had a boyfriend when I was 16 and he did things that made me uncomfortable. But he was my first boyfriend and I didn't have a voice yet to tell him how I felt. But I am an adult now and I have grown up and gained confidence. And now 14 years later, if a man makes me uncomfortable I am going to say something. The fact that i naively let that first boyfriend make me feel uncomfortable should not be used against me to say I can't speak up now against future uncomfortable moments. That makes zero sense. We should want to grow. We should want to be better.
