Kuromi frowned down at her diary and the words she had written. She never thought she'd even think this, let alone share the thought with anyone, even her diary, but here she was. She sighed as she looked at the words once again.
I want to be friends with My Melody.
She closed the diary quickly when there was a knock at her door. She got up to answer it and was shocked to find none other than My Melody.
"Hi Kuromi," she greeted sweetly, "My Sweet Piano and I were planning a picnic and we were wondering if you'd like to come?" She tilted her head to the side with her question.
Kuromi's first thought was to deny, say there was no way she would go on a picnic with the likes of her, but then she remembered the words in her diary. After a moment of hesitation, she said, "fine," trying to sound like she couldn't care less.
"That's great!" My Melody beamed at Kuromi. "I have to go invite the others. Meet us at the park in two hours, okay?"
Kuromi grumbled to herself as she closed the door, but she was secretly glad she was given the opportunity to get closer to the other.
With nothing else to do for the next two hours, Kuromi began preparing food to bring along to the picnic. She wasn't sure what everyone else liked, so she decided to bring a jar of her favorite pickled scallions.
She tidied up her room a bit and before she knew it, it was time to head to the park. She grabbed her scallions and headed out the door, hopeful that she would have a good time.
At the park, she quickly found the blanket the others had spread out and plopped herself down in an empty spot.
"Hello Kuromi," My Sweet Piano greeted, getting My Melody's attention.
"Kuromi!" She exclaimed, "I'm glad you could make it!"
Kuromi huffed in return and placed her jar on the blanket with the rest of the food.
As everyone began to dig in, Kuromi watched My Melody to see what the best strategy would be. How did she interact with My Sweet Piano? Should Kuromi replicate it? Just as she was beginning to form a plan, her thoughts were interrupted.
"Kuromi, would you like some of my almond pound cake? Mama helped me make it!" My Melody was holding out a plate with a piece of cake on it, which Kuromi hesitantly accepted. In return, she held out a plate with a few pickled scallions, and My Melody smiled at her the same way she smiled at My Sweet Piano.
Huh, Kuromi thought, maybe this won't be so hard after all...
