After the poopshow billed as the latest #GOPDebate I ran into the kitchen determined to restore my sanity. Luckily for me I had an abundance of freshly baked-from-scratch cake, real Vermont maple syrup and walnuts... and the #Bernie cake pop was born. Definitely my new favorite flavor. And fitting for the good senator... local, organic ingredients and my friend Brad’s personally tapped and boiled grade A maple syrup (because Vermont duh) and nuts because you have to be a little bit crazy to a) run for president and b) stick with it (and not crazy like Trump crazy - don’t worry, THAT cake pop is on its way too)... Decided to try my hand at Star Wars pops... i was so excited for Darth Vader.. molded his face ("it's all about structure" my 16-year old advised), added bits of cake here and there to raise the eyes and helmet and mouth... satisfied, I dipped him in black and blah... 1) his features just became a big blob of nothing and 2) he looked more like a black Angry Bird than anything else. So he got eaten before the camera came out. This part of the rabble crew came out pretty darn decent tho! Will try DV again soon.

Superhero cake pops! My daughter and I had a blast making a variety of superhero pops for a friend, even adding little fondant capes to the Superman ones.. and we were all excited to start wrapping them up until my fiance decided we needed to be educated in the world of comic books. He didn't want us to make a huge faux pas he said. Didn't we know that DC and Marvel characters couldn't go in the same box? Too much rivalry! Well, Superman and the Green Lantern made it in - but Spiderman and Captain America made it into our tummies instead! Next time we'll grab the camera before we start chomping on them :)

Unicorn cake pops...horns were not quite set so got a bit bent in the wrapper, but I think that just added to their charm!
