feeling conflicted because my disappointment right now extends beyond just taylor dating that creature. It lies with Phoebe willing to share a stage with him. It lies with Jack working with and partying with him. It lies with everyone in that circle willing to associate with him and give him a platform. It's hypocritical to feel discomfort with taylor while turning a blind eye to the rest when Phoebe is also very close to him, she was the one he shared the stage with during the shows and Jack is the one who brought him back into the circle. Idk. It's just all very disappointing from some of my favourite artists.

to expand on this a bit: all of these people are also more "online" than taylor. Ryan, Phoebe, Jack are all quite active when it comes to posting about and promoting their work (and also the work of others). the argument that "maybe taylor hasn't seen this since she avoids googling herself and limits her social media use" is null and void when you consider how many people around her ARE online. like, why would Jack re-connect them after seeing that podcast? Or any of the articles/posts about that creature's racist/anti-Semitic actions? why would Phoebe and Bo hang out with him, play on stage with him, and add to the platform he has? why would Tree not have hauled her aside and at least shown her the articles and let her make a decision on them? The answer can only be they've seen it and they don't care. It's reached the point that undoubtedly someone in that group of people has seen it and are brushing it off. It's impossible to not have by now. And it SUCKS.

something people don’t appreciate enough is the fact that different songs on midnights explore the same topics in numerous, sometimes contradictory ways. on snow on the beach, she’s scared that a new relationship might not work out; on labyrinth, she’s terrified that it might. snow on the beach also talks about the celestial forces that bring two people together; mastermind confesses that she was the force in question all along. bejeweled describes the confidence and freedom of bending the rules of a relationship; high infidelity is filled with guilt and terror for simply dancing with another guy. she takes the money on you’re on your own, kid, but she feels stifled by it on anti-hero. she ends you’re on your own, kid with inspiring words; on dear reader, she warns the audience not to listen to her advice. she burns in hell on anti-hero, but karma is her god on karma. she can face any struggle fame throws at her on you’re on your own, kid, but she’s too soft for all of it on sweet nothing. she’s a diamond and a monster on the hill at the same time. it’s almost like each story is told from multiple perspectives like the love triangle on folklore, but instead of several fictional characters, the narrators all exist in different corners of taylor’s mind.

stella got her heart broken so she's learning to love again and beatrix was someone who needed trust and love and care. they needed each other.

its the way stella looked at her all the time, the way stella worried about her, the way stella felt so crushed by beatrixs obliviousness to stellas feelings towards her, and her telling beatrix "you had me" as her way of a love confession.

beatrix sacrificed herself for stella and died thinking stella hated her.
