I just remembered why a lot of modern isekai is dumb. It’s all a worse version of Sword Art Online which was already really bad

You know why so many isekai let the main characters see their video game stats or whatever? Because it’s based on the show what if you die in the game you die in real life don’t ya know

I tried revisiting Sword Art Online recently and realized that most of my good memories of it were actually from the YouTube series SAO Abridged which is a parody of the series that manages to have more interesting and logically written characters than the actual series.

Also they took out the incest arc.

There’s a whole character arc in Alfheim Online where Kirito’s cousin/sister works through her feelings about being attracted to him. Which was. A choice that was made.

Kirito as a character is also just like so smart and overpowered that it’s stupid. Not only is he the most bestest swordsman ever but he’s also good at stalking people irl and rigging up cameras and stuff.

Yeah he’s good at tracking people down. There’s whole plot points that depend on that ultra stalker skill of his.

Also every woman wants to kiss him for some reason. They’re charmed by his secret dual wielding technique and stalker skills I guess.

Like they tried to change Reblogs and people rightfully got up in arms, this is a LOT worse. In order to have access to any sort of thing dubbed mature, and We haveALL seen what they think is mature, Everything from a black and white photo of a black woman's arm, to posts about IUD recalls, to a nude painted by a 17th century artist, to anything involving the word Trans; you have to send your personal information to a third party site that WILL get hacked, and you will be doxxed. And they can say "Oh shit, well it wasn't us who sent your name address and gender identity to Moldovan teenagers, here's a couple extra minutes in the ball pit.

That's bad enough!!!!!!!! But the entire idea of needing permission from state authorities to access anything labeled mature by our friendly AI overlords is some fucking Boll shit. Die Gedenken Sind Frie baby. This is all a reaction to people getting uppity about their lowly lowly rights and is being propped up by the same bad actors tht have made life unlivable. Fuck that shit.

also I promptly went to a convention on the same day I was discharged from the hospital after surgery (surgery was on a Thursday, they kept me overnight for observation, so I was discharged on a Friday).

It was my anniversary with my boyfriend, I was not missing that for the fucking world. It was a great time and I actually outlasted him on Saturday and Sunday. But I'm never making that mistake again– I'm recording the dates of every con I'm going to and saving it so I can't accidentally go "oh yeah lol any day is fine" and later when I can't reschedule find out "oh. oh god. that's an important date. FUUUU––"

woke up in pain from surgery. Took pain meds, drank some water, had a cup of applesauce before the pain grew too much. Went back to my room to be greeted by my cat. Well okay. I sit down and he crawls into my lap and lets me hold him. He purrrrrrs right up against my throat where I feel it. It stops hurting after about a minute of this.

my baby boy... his love heals me...

oh yeah to explain:

Sleep apnea correction surgery. No details besides 'it went well.' Apparently this is one of the more painful surgeries out there so evidently I'm taking it like a fucking champ?

It's worked so far. Less sleep needed. So many less naps already. Not constantly feeling exhausted. I can roll out of bed immediately after my alarm goes off instead of having to fight an hours-long uphill battle against god every time I wake up.

I actually wake up feeling refreshed and ready to take on life, even though my mouth fucking hurts.

Like, the amount of good I feel has been forgotten and lost to time until now. I have hope that I can start to tackle other obstacles in my life.
