An Indie Selective Ben from The Maze Runner. Please read my rules before interacting with me. I've only read the first and second book and do plan to read the rest of the series so please be mindful of spoilers. Mun is 18+ but doesn't write smut.

          He motions for Ben to follow him before he heads off towards the           Deadheads. He keeps his pace even, letting Ben keep up with him           despite his excitement to share the spot that had become his favorite           place since he was the Greenie. 

                              “When I first came up in the Box, I thought                               that everyone here was going to kill me. I                               found out pretty quick they weren’t, but it                               didn’t mean that I still wasn’t scared. I                               ended up finding somewhere to be totally                               alone. I call it my special hide-away. I go                               there a lot when I need time to think about                               something. I think it might help you if you                               get overwhelmed. I know how it is to be the                               Newbie.” he explains. 

He follows Luis to the place he was sure Nick has called the ‘deadheads.’ The blond thought it was nice of the boy to share this ‘special’ place with him. “Yeah, so far being a newbie kind of sucks.”

          Luis gets comfortable, arms folding across his chest. The poor           kid looked so uncomfortable and out of place that Luis kind of           wanted to try and make him feel at home a little. That’s when           the idea hits him and he straightens up, a grin crossing his lips.           He could take Ben to his favorite hide out spot. 

                               "Hey, come with me. I wanna show you                                something.“ 

Ben raises an eyebrow but figures, what can it possibly hurt? “Okay. Lead the way.” He replies with a light shrug, hoping this guy wasn’t going to get him into some sort of trouble.

                               "Your name’s Ben, right? I’m Luis. Don’t                                listen to what all those other shanks have                                to say, they’re just trying to scare you.                                Life’s not so bad here once you get used                                to it all.“ 

          His lips curve up into a small smile as he looks over at their           newbie. He wondered where Ben was going to be placed after           he went through the trial and error of all the Keepers. 

He smiles, giving the other boy a nod. He was glad someone was at least attempting to be nice. “Nice to meet you, Luis.” Shanks? He still wasn’t used to these new words. Didn’t think he’d ever get used to them actually.

                               "Hey there Greenbean! How ya holding up?“ 

          Luis gives the boy a small pat on the shoulder, trying to seem friendly           so he doesn’t scare the poor guy off. He knew that being the newest           kid could be hard and that making friends with everyone else when           they were so strange was difficult.

Ben smiles at the other boy, still a bit freaked out by the whole ordeal but trying not to let it show since everyone else seemed to be just fine.

“Alright, I guess.”

“You’ve expressed your feelings quite clear.”

“Regrets are everywhere.”

“We are going to accomplish so much together.”

“Now, hurry along now and get pregnant.”

“How do you know my name?”

“My life is worth nothing.”

“I was a bit drunk.”

“Is that what you’re sorry about?”

           Gally’s tired – he normally is when he gets home. He’s still a bit damp            from his shower, but he’s got a growing excitement in his chest as he            pulls up his skype. He told Ben that after he got home, they’d chat like            they normally did. It was kind of hard to not to look forwards to these            nightly chats no matter how hard and long he’d worked the day before.            The time zones made it suck, but it was worth it to see Ben’s face. 

          He scrubs his hands down his face as the high pitched ringing from the           application rings out through his speakers. Gally wanted to seem like           he wasn’t as tired as he really was. If Ben saw how dead beat he was,           he’d make him go to bed and that wasn’t something he wanted to do.           He’d only willingly go to sleep if Ben were here with him. Which he           wasn’t. He was on the other side of the goddamn country. 

          All thoughts of sleep left him as he sees Ben’s face pop up on the           screen. He finds himself smiling a little bit, sitting up a little straighter. 

                                “I’ve got good news. In a couple of weeks                                 I’m gonna have enough for a plane ticket.“ 

Ben always looked forward to this time of day. He’d get to talk to his boyfriend and that always made him happy. He quickly attempts to fix his hair as he calls the other boy, waiting on him to answer.

He grins when his boyfriend’s face appears on his computer screen. His grin widens when he hears the news, his excitement growing.

“Oh my- Are you serious?” The blond asks, his smile never fading. He knew they’d both been saving up to see one another, but he didn’t think it would happen this soon. He figured it’d at least be several  more months. 

“How long are you going to stay?” He wished the answer was forever, but he knew that was impossible. Gally had school and work, he couldn’t

“I have some good news too.” Ben says, remembering now why he’d been looking forward to this call even more so than usual. “I got accepted to that college I applied for in Glade City. I’ll be moving there in the spring.”

“I know you, too, Ben,” Teresa said, her voice soft as if trying to be some sort of comfort to him. She knew she would want someone there for her if  W H E N  she gets her memories wiped. “And I know you didn’t attack Tom, I know it wasn’t you.”

She knew it wasn’t him because she watched it on the screen ( her eyes never taken off her best friend since he arrived in the box ) and she watched as the scientist with an emotionless face moved levers, pressed buttons that lit up with a red glow afterward, controlled the boys like they were  P I E C E S  in some twisted game of chess. Her eyes had watched as Ben became something he wasn’t, and she watched with tense muscles as her best friend fought for his life behind the cold glass screen.

“But that’s where you are wrong; they didn’t want you to kill him. They didn’t want any of those boys to die. They wanted Tom’s reaction – they wanted the fight.

“But Ben, listen, I don’t have much time – I’m going into the Maze tomorrow and I’ll forget everything I know right now. I need to tell you everything, EVERYTHING, so that if I somehow survive to see you again, you can tell me why I did everything that I’ll do.”

He wants to go home, a place that doesn’t even exist to him anymore. But that’s the feeling he has right now, homesick. 

Ben runs his hands through his hair. He feels slightly crazy. Maybe he is crazy. Maybe the girl in front of him wasn’t even here at all. Maybe she was just a figment of his imagination.

“What do you want to know?”

“That must be a new record for how quick someone’s pissed him off.”

“Yeah, it’s kind of ridiculous.”

          Gally sneers at Ben when he starts to taunt him. It makes him angry – yeah,           he’d do the stupid dare, but he didn’t want to make things weird because of it.           It was probably irrational to think that doing a dare would make anything any           different between them, but he didn’t even know if Ben would be into that.           Quite frankly, he didn’t want to start a fight over a stupid challenge video. 

                                “Didn’t know you were so desperate to make me                                 kiss you, Benny.” he remarks right back, showing                                 him the phone now that he was getting irritated by                                  Ben’s taunting. 

           This would be the moment of truth, or they’d laugh it off and pick a new dare            that involved Gally doing something absolutely ridiculous for six or seven            turns before finding a new dare to get behind. 

Ben stiffens up when he sees the words across Gally’s phone. Oh. He swallows before shrugging. He had to play it cool so Gally wouldn’t freak out and think he’s being weird beause he still didn’t know.

The boy still hadn’t told his best friend he wasn’t straight and now they were going to kiss for a stupid video. Why? Why did the world hate him so much? Why couldn’t he have kissed someone other than the person he likes?

“You’re the one hesitating.” He says, but he feels sick. He can’t kiss Gally without him knowing. It was wrong.

          The boy gives a stubborn look, trying to hide the anxiety of his trip up to the           Maze tomorrow. He was going to forget everything – Ben, his friends, his           life before that crazy project. You can’t blame him for wanting to stay here           instead. Especially when he knows a bit about what WICKED has planned           for him, what they wanted him to do. 

                               "I’m not going to remember you and you’re                                not gonna remember me. When you see                                me again, you wont know who I am and                                don’t you try and sit and promise me that                                you’ll remember ‘cause we both know it’s                                a load of crap.“ 

The blond bites his lip, he knows Gally is right. He was scared too, but he wanted Gally to be okay. “Yeah, but we will see each other again.  We’ll start over. We let each other in here, we’l do it again. It’ll be okay.”

                               "Yeah sure! Need some help?“ 

          He hands the hammer over to Ben, looking at what           he was working on.  

“Thanks.” Ben replies, taking the hammer as it was handed to him. “Sure if you wanna help.” He says with a small smile.

          They’ve been working on this project for the past few weeks           and it’s been kind of crazy. The stress of getting everything           all done and the stress of his relationship with Aris was getting           worse and worse as of late was really getting to him. He’s           conflicted about all the arguing and the the jealousy and you           honestly can’t blame him for letting it start to show. 

          He was a little more relaxed when he was with Ben, even giving           more than two word answers to most of the questions that weren’t           film related. He’d already come to terms with what was going on           with him a while ago. He liked Ben, he made him feel things he           hadn’t felt in years. It was nice to actually feel genuinely comfortable           around someone for the first time in a long time. 

          Maybe he was getting a little too comfortable. One minute, they’re           sitting there talking about the script and the next, Gally’s leaning in           towards Ben, kissing him. It was a spur of the moment decision– it           just felt right to him that right in this moment he should be doing this           with Ben. 

Ben liked Gally. He had for a while, but there was no way he was even going to attempt to make a move while the other boy was still dating Aris. He wasn’t going to play part in any cheating, he would hate it if it happened to him, so he wasn’t going to do it to someone else either. He was fine  just being friends with Gally, for now.

He knew he shouldn’t backed off the second he started causing problems  between Gally and his boyfriend. He should’ve distanced himself and left the other boy alone, but he was a good friend and Ben didn’t have very many of those and he was sure that they could manage being friends.

Guess he’d been wrong.

He’s too surprised to react to the kiss at first, but when it finally sinks in, he pushes the other boy away lightly, immediately standing up and putting space between them.

“Gally..... we can’t... you’re with Aris!” He’s a bit upset, he couldn’t lie about that. He was upset the other boy had pulled him into this.
