Sanji feels a shadow over the covered half of his face. He hadn’t noticed Zoro move. He turns and digs the point of the knife into Zoro’s chest, over his healed scar.

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing ?”

“You have blood in your hair.”

Sanji feels the urge to press the knife through. It would go in as smoothly as it did the hog. No matter how tough Zoro’s skin, how steel-like his muscles, every living thing gave way to a knife. But Sanji doesn’t use knives to fight despite his agility with them. He’s afraid he’d feel compelled, after slicing up a person, to finish the job with some butter and high heat. Once he cuts he’s begun a process he cannot so easily abandon. No beast he strikes down will be left to rot if he can help it, and he can. That’s why he’s a cook. Zoro probably wouldn’t taste any good. He’s too muscular, it would all be tough meat, no fat. Sanji would have to cook him low and slow. Sanji couldn’t quite imagine him as a stew. He’d braise him instead, after letting his proteins break down in a citrusy marinade, until he was so tender he’d pull Zoro appart with his fingertips, no plating, no sides, from the pot straight to the mouth. He’d taste like dragon.
