@exitandwalk
I'm sorry but it has be said, that I was the coolest little kid going. I've decided I'm regrowing my afro back and getting that hairstyle all over again, give it a few years but I will get back to being as cool as I was when I was a kid.
Back at Uni
So I got back to Uni on Saturday, and the week so far has been bladdy lavely! It's been a combination of Come Dine With Me, drinking, films and fun fairs, and the week has not ended yet. Fun fair again tonight, out on the town tomorrow, streets of rage night on Friday, baking on Saturday and then to end the week, were grabbing the next train to wherever on Sunday and going on an epic trek, probably to Lands End. The brilliant thing is, I'm still getting work done along the way, so i'll let you in on my system, to make sure I'm free by at least 6 every night. Wake up and for 1hr 15mins of work, take a 15 minute break and then do another 1hr and 15mins, then take a 2 hour break and repeat another 1hr 15, 15min break, 1hr 15. Then throw your work down, and don't touch it till tomorrow. I do that Mon-Fri and have my weekends to myself. 25hrs a week, BAM, that's enough for me. The brilliant thing with Photography is I don't have to be cooped up during those working times, because travelling around and shooting as much work as sitting in and writing. Just in-case you havn't noticed... I like schedules. Right 1 45mins left of my break... Ciao.
The lovely Sarah Kemball has just come round and showered me with medicine, soup and TOILET ROLL! Actually in love with her right now. My illness and problems accompanying it seem to be dwindling away bit by bit, enough to get a shower and go to Asda anyway.
So I just came across this post on BAMF! Yeh, that's right, and saw the word avatar mentioned and was like "what is this!?" Let me start by saying Avatar: The Last Airbender was one of my favourite cartoons Nickelodeon ever broadcast, and I've just found out they've released a new series called Legend of Korra. So obviously I have to watch this now, I've seen every episode from Legend of Aang, but not watched the film, mainly because I didn't want it to to be as ultimately disappointing as Dragonball Evolution was... Seriously biggest pile of crap ever! So me and my flu filled self just sat and watched it, all I've heard is bad reviews, but it wasn't that bad, at least it kept in line with the storyline in the cartoon. So now I'm going to watch Legend of Korra, and hope it's as good as it's predecessor.
I hate being ill.
I have the damn frickin' flu, and no toilet roll and here's my many problems.
1. I can't go to the shop to buy some because I feel like crap, and cannot pull myself to walk up that hill... Or I'm just being damn lazy, but either way it isn't going to happen.
2. I'm the only person to arrive back home so far so I can't ask any of my flatmates for any, plus I can't be bothered going round to a different flat... I'm resorting to notepaper.
3. My headaches getting worse now I'm on the laptop. But what else am I meant to do when I'm ill, just sit in bed in silence. Well I could do some work, but... Nah.
4. Theres no-one here to give me sympathy!
Today sucks ass.., Well until I go out tonight, in my stuffy nosed state with Mrs. Kemball.
Time for a cuppa.
Mysterious Skin (2004)
So I've just finished watching Mysterious Skin and what an disturbingly interesting narrative. Think it’s just hit my No.1 in the list of brilliantly fucked up films. If you can cope with a tale of sex, rape, paedophilia and abuse it's definately worth a watch. Definately original, dark, troubling, but so compelling.
i watched mysterious skin
EXITANDWALK:
I'm about to watch it now, I have high expectations.
WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER WHEN YOU ARE IN A BAD MOOD?
I look towards the sky, close my eyes and give a relieving sigh. It helps me get over whatever I'm in a bad mood about, even if just for a little while. There's worse things going on in the world.
So this is one of the images from a series I'm currently working on. I'm looking at negative views towards my home-town embedded in the trash scattered around the city, and the connotations these lead to. But fundamentally it's my starting point into camera-less photography. The images for this series was basically taken with a shoebox, lens and photo paper, they'll be a how-to of how I made the camera going up soon. Large format portraits will be my next obstacle.
I think it's time I look at life from a new point of view.
Ingvild Storm: Interiors A State of MInd Just uploading one of my previous projects for a friend. From top - bottom: Loss Abandonment Loneliness Escape
More..? Yet again, I was at it again today. Not sure about the text and placement of the bottles in the gig poster, but it's just a mock-up so it can always be worked on. Well into my album cover though. I'm heading back home to Manchester tomorrow, so I think i'll take a break from the band concept ideas for a bit.
Band Poster Here's the mock-up band poster I just finished. I was meant to do more than just this today, but I think I'll wait until tomorrow. I can't work when the suns gone down, it's a drawback I know.
"It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter because you can invent things. But in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the extraordinary"
David Bailey
Mock-Up Album Covers So I'm working on a music project at the moment along with my colleagues and the band Hydroshima. By the end we each have to individual come up with a poster, DVD cover and publicity shot for the band and then collaborate to create a final set the band. These are just a few of my beginning individual approaches to the album cover. I took the genre of "blues rock" a bit too literally. Some more mock-ups will be up tomorrow.
The Temporary Home So it's been 5 days since we got back from St. Just, and I already want to go back! Living somewhere with alot of people and no reception or internet did us the world of good. We were just always finding other sources of entertainment away from the bubble of technology us teens find ourselves rooted around. I usually love my own company, but I've been finding my company quite lame recently, and it doesn't help that there's coursework keeping me stuck inside, but hey that's why people call it a "break". I want to live closer to the coast, take long walks and have nice talks.
