Zine applications are still open!
“I’d Like To Bear My Testimony” : A Queerstake Zine is a digital, nonprofit, independently-published zine exploring and telling the stories of LGBTQIA+ members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
It has an open application for poetry, essay, photography, memes, tweets, diary entries, art, writing, multimedia, comic, song, collages, etc- as long as it fits the theme “That Sunday” and relates to Mormonism and queerness. If this sounds interesting or would like to learn more, please take a look the pinned post for links and more information :)
Apps close the 20th!
Sad, angry, jealous, and guilty feelings can make you a healthier person. Figuring out the reason for your negative emotions and learning from unpleasant experiences makes you stronger, and that success can bring happiness- but when you suppress and ignore negative emotions, you eliminate the balance of good and bad.
Because the contrast of feeling sad is what makes feeling happy so wonderful, happiness wouldn’t really exist if you’d never truly embraced your sadness.

A convo between @exmosuggestion and I. We have the same exmo brain cell
You: is there any way that I can myself as a [lgbt+] person and be part of the mormon church?
Me, an intellectual queer: tbqh not really
There really isn’t though.
I mean, you can either force yourself to marry a person of the opposite sex who you aren’t attracted to or you can remain celibate.
You can marry the person of the opposite sex and acknowledge that you are attracted to the same sex too but are somehow “better” because you “rose above” it and only focused on the straight part of your bisexuality
You can ignore your dysphoria and issues with your gender identity or… nothing. Just ignore them. No transitioning to a new gender because God made you this way.
You can force yourself to marry and have kids or try to stay single instead of being comfortable with your asexuality
One partner. No open relationships, no polyamory. Nothing that isn’t a straight, monogamous relationship or no relationship at all.
You cannot be yourself as an LGBT+ person and be part of the Mormon church. To be part of the church you’d have to stifle yourself. That isn’t being yourself. That’s being who other people want you to be. You deserve better.
Admissions Guidelines!
“I’d like to bear my testimony” is a pg-13, digital, non-profit, queer+religious zine about the experiences of LGBT+ Mormons, presided by Harvey (A trans/queer ex-mo) based on the theme of “That Sunday”, and whatever that means to the contributor. Alternately if a more specific theme is wanted, “Fast/Testimony Sunday”.
If this sounds like something you’d be into contributing to, Read More

Yo my friend is organizing this and I really hope you consider!! The most conthartic part of this submission call is
“As this is a queer+religious zine, criticism, anger, mourning, and any stereo-typically negative emotion are going to be welcome and encouraged.”
Please read and consider contributing!

lol i think this “””””missionary”””” at my college knows that i dont like him. great! like to keep that distance.
a lot of air quotes bc he is just one dude who occasionally wears a missionary tag and straight up lied to me about having a mission companion.....i have never seen this guy with a companion. When i first met him i decided to be cheeky and be like “hey elder, wheres your companion lol?” his response was like “oh yea he’s [across the way doing something], we can do that”
lol u cant fool me bitch
