Hello! I was wondering why you'd type Baekhyun as ENFP instead of as ESFP? Because to me.. I've always typed him as ESFP
hello!
the main difference between ENFP and ESFP is their dominant and inferior functions (Ne>Si and Se>Ni respectively). for ESFPs, extraverted sensing enables them to live in the moment as they are able to see things as how theyâre presented at that time.
the way iâve always seen it, baekhyun isnât exactly aware of his surroundings most of the time, as shown by him often going in the wrong direction, missing cues to the start of lmr that one time bc he was too busy playing with the fans, etc. etc.
moreover: even though ENFPs are generally taken to be witty and funny and are known to give a good show and offer wonderful company, they are ultimately more uncomfortable with unfamiliar social situations and get drained a lot easier than ESFPs. this is mostly due to their Ne/Si dynamic, wherein their Si provides an array of information they know to be true from their own experiences that Ne will then feed on to fuel their ideas.
you know how baekhyun gets more quiet, nervous and unsure during variety shows he guests alone in when we are all well aware of how loud and confident he can be when surrounded with the people he knows? itâs because he doesnât have any info to work with in the former situation, so heâs unsure on how to nagivate through. in situations of the latter, however, when he has years of experiences with that particular group of people, he can make inside jokes. he can say things that he knows will make them laugh. heâs loud and quick-mouthed and unafraid. i think thatâs what it is; a simple case of Ne/Si dynamic taking place.
for comparison, i typed jongdae as ESFP. and while he and baekhyun are similar in some aspects, the main area where they differ from each other is how they process and express.
1. jongdaeâs take on things are more literal. for example: the lyrics he wrote for promise, if you notice, can be easily made sense of. theyâre sensible and doable. thereâs no double meaning, or subtle messages. there are straightforward and sincere, clearly expressing regret and gratefulness and whatnot.
2. baekhyunâs ideas are more out there. heâs able to make easy connections with things that isnât obvious to most. example: his jokes often have that shock factor to them that forces out a laugh from you. he makes clever puns that take you a while to get. heâs entertaining in his unpredictability.
3. jongdaeâs responses are immediate. he doesnât hesitate to do things, you know? he just does it, without thinking what it means or what itâll do. he looks at a situation, spot out whatâs wrong and goes to right it. like the time they went to the haunted house and he gave out the hotpacksâi donât think there was anything in his mind accept that it was cold and they probably would appreciate the warmth.
4. baekhyunâs support comes in the form of words. as seen above, jongdae is more action-prone. baekhyun however has a way with words that will make you feel loved and comforted, as showcased many times during concert ments and his birthday message to lay, etc. etc. so where jongdae will take care of your physical needs, baekhyun will prioritise in making sure your emotional and mental needs are met. itâs more conceptual.
i hope this answers your question! please feel free to correct me if im wrong or argue with any of the points i made c:

How Mistypes Have Warped The Descriptions Of Each iNtuitive MBTI Type
(by Heidi Priebe of Thought Catalogue)
The MBTI is an incredibly unreliable assessment tool. As far as Jungian personality types go, itâs much safer to determine oneâs type using cognitive functions. However, most people try to assess their type using an online quiz and end up identifying as a type that does not represent their true cognitive model.
In fact, most people who take an online quiz to assess their type end up with a result telling them they are an âintuitiveâ type â as the tests tend to be biased toward âintuitiveâ answers. As a result, a large range of people end up perpetuating false stereotypes about various intuitive personality types.
Below, the most common mistype for each of the intuitive types is listed, as well as an explanation of which stereotypes are being falsely attributed to the type as a result. Please note that this is far from a comprehensive list of mistypes. It simply lists the ones that occur most often for each iNtuitive type!
ENFP
People who identify as ENFPs are very often: mistyped ESFPs.
How this warps our understanding of the ENFP type:
Because the ESFP is an extroverted sensing-dominant type, ESFPs who believe themselves to be ENFPs tend to portray the ENFP as a much more extroverted and engaged type than the ENFP actually is. Whereas the ESFP is tuned into his or her environment at all times and is incredibly extroverted in nature, the true ENFP is quite often mentally checked out of his or her environment and is significantly less social than the ESFP. In fact, most true ENFPs strongly believe themselves to be introverts because of their massive need for alone time.
Whereas the ESFP often feels as though theyâre suffocating if they are away from people for too long, the ENFP feels as though theyâre suffocating if theyâre aroundpeople for too long, as their dominant extroverted intuition function thrives on idea generation, not direct interaction with their external environment.
ESFPs also tend to be more emotionally expressive than the ENFP type, as their emotions are primarily based on whatâs going on in their lives. The ESFP often shares their struggles and dramas freely with others, wanting input as to what others think of the situation (hearing otherâs opinions also helps them to see the situation from other angles and come to a more informed conclusion as to what they should do about it).
ENFPs, on the other hand, tend to search for the root cause or underlying reason behind their emotions. Rather than sharing the concrete details of the situation at hand with others, the ENFP is more likely to seek out psychological models that help them to understand why themselves and others are acting and reacting in certain ways. Though they do feel things incredibly deeply, the ENFP takes on a more clinical approach to their feelings than the ESFP, who focuses predominantly on resolving the situation at hand in as direct a fashion as possible.
However, ENFPs are often misrepresented as a type that is expressive and dramatic about their feelings, since many ESFPs mistakenly refer to themselves as ENFPs.
INFJ
People who identify as INFJs are very often: mistyped INFPs and ISFPs
How this warps our understanding of the INFJ type:
Because INFPs and ISFPs are introverted feeling dominant types, they are incredibly emotionally intense, and experience their feelings on a deeply personal level. On the flip side, the INFJ is an auxiliary extroverted feeler, which means they are significantly more detached from their emotions than their IxFP counterparts. But because INFPs and ISFPs identify with the INFJ in an overwhelming frequency, we are constantly seeing incorrect stereotypes develop about how emotional the INFJ type is.
In reality, the INFJ is much more giving than they are emotional. The INFJ feels an almost compulsive need to give back to their loved ones and/or society in a meaningful way, but they are not tortured by their personal experience of emotions the way IxFP types are. In fact, INFJs tend to be highly adept at separating themselves from their emotions when need be, as they are intuitive dominant types first and feelers second.
Additionally, INFJs are very pragmatic long-term planners, unlike the INFPs, who are idealistic long-term planners. While the INFJ uses introverted intuition to attempt to predict what definitely will happen in the future, the INFP uses extroverted intuition to envision multiple various scenarios surrounding what could happen, preferring the exploration of these ideas much more than the execution of them.
While the INFP is wildly imaginative and speculative, the INFJ is significantly more grounded in reality â they want to knowthe future, whereas the INFP wants to invent it.
However, because so many INFPs identify as INFJs, it perpetuates the stereotype that INFJs are idealistic dreamers. While the INFJ does often get lost in their thoughts, their thoughts do not mirror the imaginative fantasies of the INFP type â they are more often considering how various courses of events are likely to play out, in an attempt to narrow down which one is most likely to happen and how they ought to plan for it accordingly.
Because so many IxFP types misidentify as INFJs, INFJs often develop a reputation for being incredibly emotional dreamers â when in reality, theyâre much more intellectual and discerning than they are emotional and imaginative.
*Note: There are also a significant number of ISFJs who are mistyped as INFJs.
ENFJ
People who identify as ENFJs are very often: mistyped ENFPs. How this warps our understanding of the ENFJ type:
Because ENFPs are extroverted intuitive dominant types, they are much more interested in exploring and understanding emotions than they are in managing them. On the flip side, ENFJs are extroverted feeling dominant types, which means that understanding the emotional world is a means to an end for them â they want to use their understanding to help others to change for the better.
Because many ENFPs misidentify as ENFJs, ENFJs may develop a reputation for being more explorative than they are grounded â when in reality, nothing could be further from the truth. ENFJs crave long-term stability rather than continuous novelty, which sets them drastically apart from their ENFP counterparts. However, this trait is often brushed aside by ENFPs who believe that they are Js because they function best within a routine on a day-to-day but not long-term basis and generally are not disorganized.
In general, ENFJs are much more similar to their sensing cousins the ESFJ than they are to the ENFP â as the last-letter difference causes all of their cognitive functions to change. Though theyâre intuitively understanding of others, this type is not a bundle of new ideas and projects like their ENFP counterparts â they finish what they start with precision, and they enjoy planning concretely for the long-term, rather than letting the plan constantly change.
INFP
People who identify as INFPs are very often: mistyped ENFPs. How this warps our understanding of the INFP type:
ENFPs and INFPs share all of the same cognitive functions, so itâs easy to confuse the two types. However, ENFPs lead with extroverted intuition, whereas INFPs lead with introverted feeling. Therefore, ENFPs are most energized through the exploration of new ideas, whereas INFPs are most energized by the in-depth exploration of their feelings.
However, since so many ENFPs identify as INFPs, it skews our perception of what it means to be an INFP. ENFPs are significantly more experience-focused than INFPs. ENFPs want to have many novel experiences, in order to help them understand things from various angles. They are quick to jump into new adventures, which they must then withdraw from to reflect upon. On the flip side, INFPs wade cautiously and deliberately into new opportunities, as they wish to determine exactly how they are going to feel about them before jumping into them.
When ENFPs identify as INFPs in large quantity, they perpetuate the idea that the INFP is much more impulsive and action-oriented than they really are. INFPs look before they leap, whereas ENFPs do the opposite.
INTJ
People who identify as INTJs are very often: mistyped INTPs and ENTPs. How this warps our understanding of the INTJ type:
Because INTPs and ENTPs are introverted thinking types, they are searching for indisputable and verifiable truths above all else. On the flip side, INTJs are introverted intuitives first and foremost, which means that they are much more concerned with determining how the future is likely to play out than they are with examining the reality of their present.
However, this distinction is complicated by the fact that INTPs and ENTPs pair their introverted thinking with extroverted intuition, a function that is future-oriented. However, extroverted intuition is much more speculative than it is discerning.
Whereas the INTJ wishes to narrow down the absolute best possible course of action for the future and then stick to it long-term, the INTP and ENTP types enjoy far-flung speculations about the future, which they entertain to fill in the blanks while they search for further conclusive truths about how the world is structured.
For example, when an INTJ looks at the future, he or she envisions exactly how theyâd like their lives to play out (based on a set of deeply-held morals and ideals), and the specific actions they ought to take in order to move towards those objectives. When the INTP or ENTP looks toward the future, they envision multiple exciting opportunities they might take on, and consider how to logically manipulate their environments in order to get there. However, their focus is more farfetched and less focused than the INTJâs.
You might say that for the xNTP types, life is a quest for logical accuracy and coherence, supported by an inventive, entrepreneurial flair, which comes and goes in bursts. For the INTJ, life is a quest for understanding but also consistency and efficiency â they seek to become highly knowledgeable about the world around them, but they lack the scattered entrepreneurial excitement of xNTP types. They are much more concerned with building a stable lifestyle that functions competently and efficiently long-term than they are with manipulating their environments to conform to their latest far-out idea.
Because so many INTPs and ENTPs self-identify as INTJs, INTJs develop a reputation for being more scattered and entrepreneurial than they actually are (this isnât to say INTJs canât be entrepreneurs â they certainly can! But it would not be one of the first words one would use to describe an INTJâs personality). In reality, the INTJ type is quite focused on their long-term objectives.
Additionally, because INTPs have inferior extroverted feeling, INTPs who misidentify as INTJs often describe the INTJ type as incredibly cold, calculating and heartless. In reality, INTJs have their introverted feeling function third in their stacking, which means they are much more in touch with their emotional side than the INTP and tend to take personal morality quite seriously.
ENTP
People who identify as ENTPs are very often: mistyped ESTPs. How this warps our understanding of the ENTP type:
Because the ESTP is an extroverted sensing-dominant type, ESTPs who believe themselves to be ENTPs tend to portray the ENTP as a much more extroverted and engaged type than the ENTP actually is. Whereas the ESTP is tuned into his or her environment at all times and is incredibly reactive to his or her environment, the true ENTP is quite often mentally checked out of his or her environment and is significantly less outgoing than the ESTP. In fact, most true ENTPs strongly believe themselves to be introverts because they are more interested in the world of ideas and invention than they are in the world that physically surrounds them.
Though both types are intellectual in nature, the ESTP tends to be a hands-on learner who wants to see the physical consequences of how something is going to play out in their immediate environment. On the flip side, ENTPs enjoy speculating about the bigger picture, and are more interested in the theory behind why things happen the way they do than they are in seeing them play out practically.
The ENTP sees the knowledge they acquire as a means to an end of manipulating their environment to their advantage â often through a series of entrepreneurial schemes they cook up. On the flip side, the ESTP experiences their external environment as it comes, using their introverted thinking primarily as a means of understanding whatâs going on around them. The ESTP wishes to understand what is based on what theyâre experiencing. The ENTP wishes to understand what could be based on what hasnât been explored yet. The ENTP lives in a highly theoretical world, whereas the ESTP lives in a very concrete one.
When ESTPs identify too readily as ENTPs, they give ENTPs the reputation for being significantly more engaged with their environment than the ENTP really is. In reality, most ENTPs are so caught up in the world of ideas and theories that they strongly believe themselves to be introverts.
ENTJ
People who identify as ENTJs are very often mistyped: ENTPs. How this warps our understanding of the ENTJ type:
Because ENTPs are committed to the point of obsessiveness when they are putting a new plan into place, they often assume themselves to be judging types. In reality, the ENTP and the ENTJ share zero cognitive functions in common and are vastly different in their perceptions of the world.
Whereas the ENTP is constantly chasing their next new exciting entrepreneurial scheme or plan, the ENTJ is incredibly focused on the long-term, and wants to find the one best plan that will work for them long-term (unless it becomes logical for them to âupgradeâ their plan down the road). On the flip side, the ENTP is fiercely engaged with whichever idea theyâre working on at the time, but they seek variety in the long-term â wanting to try their hand at various different disciplines or ventures, and becoming bored if they do the same thing for too many years in a row.
To ENTJs, the execution of an idea or plan is the most exciting part â they enjoy actual organizing and following through on their ideas. On the flip side, the ENTP enjoys the conceptualization of an idea much more than they enjoy the day-to-day follow-through. So long as their target is always moving, the ENTP enjoys moving towards it. However, the ENTJ gains energy from the actual implementation and follow-through of their ideas â even if that follow-through takes them the rest of their lives.
Because so many ENTPs identify as ENTJs, it can cause our understanding of ENTJs to become warped. In reality, the ENTJ is much, much more similar to the INTJ personality than they are to the ENTP.
INTP
People who identify as INTPs are very often: mistyped ENTPs. How this warps our understanding of the INTP type:
Almost every true ENTP out there has considered themselves to be an introvert at some point in time. ENTPs lead with extroverted intuition, a function that gains energy through the exploration of external ideas, but not necessarily through direct socialization. For this reason, the ENTP is perhaps the most introverted of all extroverted types, and they mistake themselves to be INTPs in high frequency.
When an ENTP portrays themselves to be an INTP, they portray the type as much more focused on ideas than they are on logic and accuracy. The ENTP certainly does search for logical consistency â and they place a large emphasis on it â but the ENTP is more interested in supporting their latest scheme or entrepreneurial venture with the logic at hand than they are in seeking it logic out for the sake of purely knowing it. Whereas the INTP never places their schemes above their commitment to understanding something objectively, the ENTP does not mind manipulating facts a bit in order to achieve what they want.
Overall, the INTP and ENTP types are incredibly similar. They share all four cognitive functions in common and look at the world in highly similar ways. However, the ENTP is significantly more focused on forming new ideas and plans, whereas the INTP is more significantly more focused on maintaining logical consistency.
[PERFORMANCE DEPARTMENT STAFF TALKING ABOUT KAI]
Q: What do you mean by they became skilful?
A: Their facial expressions and little details they show to deliver the emotions of each song, thatâs where I can recognize their expert ease. During Kai and Sehunâs Baby Donât Cry performances, this was very noticeable too.
Q :You have seen how they were in real life, can you tell us each memberâs strength?
A: Kai is an artist whose stage presence is extraordinary. He gets immersed in songs, his ability to let his audience catch little details of the performance is outstanding. Whether Kai participates in their performance or not changes the whole aura of the performance. Weâve done the show for 44 times so far but the more I watch Kaiâs performanc, the more I get immersed in it.
Q:Was there any moment you felt âTheyâre so cool/great!â
A: If I pick one performance, Iâd pick the choreo for âBaby Donât Cryâ. Even when they were just practicing, I already felt that the audience will love that so much.
Q: A member who is the most different during rehearsals and real performances?
A: Kai. Once he starts performing for the real show, his eyes just change. His facial expressions are different for every song. His expression ability is amazing.
[CONCERT VIDEO DIRECTOR TALKING ABOUT JONGIN]
Q:You had a chance to know their personalities, how was it?
A:I thought Kai would be a little bit unfriendly or cold since I heard that heâs shy of strangers also when I see his appearance, he has this cold man kind of attraction, but he remembered every staff and greeted and asked how we were doing first everytime he met us. And I felt that âhe looks somewhat cold but he is very pure insideâ
[MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT STAFF TALKING ABOUT JONGIN]
Q: If you leave a short message for each member?
A: Kai, As I see you always have so many thoughts and worries about EXOâs performances, and also so much passion for dancing, I canât help but think youâre a born performer. I feel proud to see you improve so fast. I will count on you to keep touching your audienceâs hearts even in the future. And take care of yourself too.

EXOMBTI; CHANYEOL: ENTP
@amenco2807 im sorry for the delay, and for accidentally deleting ur ask omfg i hope this answers ur question?
original answer: hello hello, thanks for dropping by! (this blog is actually dead but ive been waiting so long for a chanyeol ask i decided to revive)
i wonât go through the full-length details, but iâll put down the things, little tidbits of his habits and tendencies iâve picked up (correctly or no is up for debate), that led me to think chanyeol is an entp.
ENTP (Ne > Ti > Fe > Si)
Extraverted Intuition (Ne) - his open-mindedness - heâs quick-witted (+Ti) - he has varying interests (showcases a Ti obessiveness towards said interests until his curiosity is satiated enough, or he is deemed capable in them - then he moves on to the next thing that catches his eyes. e.g billiards, shooting, building, mini-cars and the likes) - heâs an idea-person (likes expanding on the possibility of things. on a big scale, have big dreams and high ambitions and the passion/determination/skills to achieve them. on a smaller scale, is very open with the idea of new experiences and new things in general. does not hesitate to venture to the unknown and unfamiliar)
Introverted Thinking (Ti) - heâs extremely good at figuring how things work by dismantling and reconstructing, often bettering them in the process (this is coupled with Ne. case in point: his latest obsession, mini-cars) - because of this, has good adapting abilities (probably +Fe)
Extraverted Feeling (Fe) - he is a complete people-pleaser - he has good relations with people, and because of this has a wide range of connections that can get him where he wants - since this function is lower on his stack, he may come of ingenuine at times (hence his âfakeâ label) - he thrives on compliments, and easily gets motivated by praises and constructive critisism (+Ti) - again, since itâs lower on his stack, he may come off as insensitive and often unintentionally offends (hence his ~problematic~ label) - since this is his tertitary function, it does not come easily to him as Ti and Ne does, which would explain how awkward he is with feelings. often tries to rationalize his way through answers
Introverted Sensing (Si) - likes to reminisce about the past - he has this tendency to segue his way to a story at seemingly random intervals (sometimes he just plain goes off in tangents, and its correlation to the subject in hand often takes a while to realize - this is coupled with high Ne)
and thatâs it! well, the main points anyway. do keep in mind that this is very much open to discussion so if you have questions, or a point youâd like to add, or if youâve typed him completely different for reasons youâd like to discuss please donât hesitate to do so~
also, a little disclaimer: the points listed down are not necessarily characteristics of the functions or the type as a whole, rather they are chanyeolâs characteristics that i think align with the stacking of ENTP.
How MBTI departs from Jung - the role of the auxiliary function.
Who was Carl Jung and what does he have to do with typology?
Carl Jung was a highly influential psychiatrist and psychotherapist during the 20th Century. His book Psychological Types, originally published in 1921, describes the occurrence of eight psychological types. These types differ by their preference for a particular cognitive function â introverted thinking (Ti), extroverted thinking (Te), introverted feeling (Fi), extroverted feeling (Fe), introverted sensing (Si), extroverted sensing (Se), introverted intuition (Ni), and extroverted intuition (Ne). Jung describes how these types may think and act due to their preference for a particular function.
How does MBTI depart from Jungâs Psychological Types?
Myers-Briggs expands upon Jungâs theory by placing greater emphasis on the role of the auxiliary function. It is important to remember that Jung does mention the presence of an auxiliary function, yet he spends little time explaining it and largely overlooks its implications. Myers-Briggs, in contrast, sees the auxiliary function as being essential to a theory of typology. This results in the following deviations from Jungâs theory:
· Constant presence of the auxiliary function to support the dominant function. Myers-Briggs believes that the types presented in Jungâs Psychological Types are âpureâ types (types that rely on only the dominant function) that would rarely occur in real life (Jung acknowledges this too, but spends little time expanding this point). Myers-Briggs argues for a well-developed auxiliary function that serves to support the dominant function.
· The auxiliary function is used to create balance between perception and judgement. If the dominant function is a perceiving function (Se, Si, Ne, Ni), then the auxiliary function must be a judging function (Te, Ti, Fe, Fi), and vice versa. This creates balance and allows the auxiliary function to compliment and support the dominant function, rather than contradict it.
· The auxiliary function is used to balance introversion and extroversion. It is important to remember that this refers to Jungâs definitions of introversion and extroversion â extroverts are stimulated by the objective (external) world, while introverts are stimulated by the subjective (inner) world. Similar to the balance between perception and judgement, the auxiliary function must support a balance between introversion and extroversion in the user. Thus a dominant extroverted function is paired with an auxiliary introverted function, and vice versa. In Isabel Briggs Myers own words, âthe extravertsâ auxiliary gives them access to their own inner life and to the world of ideas; the introvertsâ auxiliary gives them a means to adapt to the world of action and to deal with it effectivelyâ.
· Taking the auxiliary function into account results in 16 types. This is in contrast to Jungâs eight types.
tl;dr MBTI differs from Jungâs theory of psychological types by placing greater emphasis on the auxiliary function in balancing and supporting the dominant function. This also results in the occurrence of sixteen types, rather than Jungâs eight types.
ENTP fact #25
We all have tinfoil hats that we carry around and put on whenever we feel threatened
heâs a bit unarmed
The Eight Functions: Extraverted Sensing (Se)
The extraverted sensing process is momentary and usually focused on the present. It is characterised by a quest for processing the physical world and scanning for reactions and relevant data and helps the individual to adapt to this real world and to immediate situations. Extraverted sensing occurs when people scan for information relevant to their interests or tasks (Berens 2000). This seeking of information proceeds until the collected details can be combined to form a solution or a clear picture. In a learning environment, extroverted sensing is often demonstrated by continuously asking for specifics and extensive reading lists.
The Eight Functions: Extraverted Intuition (Ne)
Extraverted Intuition (Ne) â this function involves presenting alternative interpretations and questions previously established solutions. The aim is to make inferences and scan for what could be (future oriented). The individual tends to juggle numerous potential solutions, meanings, views and arguments in their mind, all of which could be true. Thus, extraverted intuition seems to be less about finding an ultimate truth, and more about discovering possible truths (Berens 2000). Students with an extraverted intuition dominant function may have difficulties accepting a presented solution and may wish to engage in arguments with teachers and peers about alternative solutions.

Hidden Sides of MBTI Types
ESFJ: While they are usually kind-hearted and well-intended, they're often not warm and fuzzy. This is because they often try to love people before they learn to like them. They are the biggest nerds out of all the ESxx types, often gravitating towards Enlightenment Era ideals. They also make great pranksters, because they are clever and love to get reactions from people.
ISFJ: They're a lot more laid back than most profiles will have you believe (because ALL SJs MUST HAVE THEIR NOSES TO THE GRINDSTONE 24/7 pssh yeah right). Yes, they take what they do very seriously, but they need an awful lot of downtime because they are highly sensitive to sensory and social input. They may have a tendency to give up on things they should persist on, and persist in things they should give up. They are more open-minded than they seem - while they are extremely cautious with strangers, they are usually willing to learn to understand others as they get to know them, regardless of their differences. They are also the most fantasy-prone of any Sensing type, with a love for lore and literary analysis - it is a way for them to keep in touch with traditions.
ESTJ: Most of them aren't actually self-righteous. If they are, it's only toward their family members - this is mostly out of insecurity rather than a firm belief that they have made all the right choices. When faced with someone close to them making different choices than they did, they worry that perhaps they themselves should have taken a different route in life. Out of the SJ types, they are probably the worst at teamwork.
ISTJ: Sillier, softer, and stranger than any profile would dare to mention, and often more so than they themselves are aware of. They become so firmly set in their habits that they often fail to realize how idiosyncratic some of them are. They are quite vulnerable and can become depressed and anxious when they are faced with a difficult decision, more so than other types. This is because of their strong sense of accountability. They can also have a knack for puns and poignant descriptions, though most would never peg this type as "poetic."
ENTP: The main reason they appear "non-committal" is because they are often, in actuality, extremely committed to someone or something that prevents them from pursuing new possibilities far enough or for long enough to gain anything from them. Imagine a fish that struggles to swim off in a variety of directions only to be reeled back in again and again, not even realizing that it's attached to a hook. They are probably the least self-aware of all iNtuitive types. Contrary to popular belief, they are not reckless. They may participate in reckless activities, but they are extremely cautious while doing so.
INTP: They care a great deal about what other people think of them and theirs - the "socially awkward" stereotype comes from over-thinking the situation, rather than under-thinking it. They are not wishy-washy, they are just extremely skilled at picking their battles. They can argue a lot for its own sake, but it wears them out more than they let on. Out of all the NTs, they are probably the best team players. They may pretend not to care about gossip or "sap", but they often secretly find these things irresistible.
ENTJ: They are usually not Machiavellian. Their strong sense of individualism often extends to others (which makes them respectful of others' uniqueness), and they use their brave and outspoken nature to amplify others' voices who may be going unheard. They are often the "bully's bully" - if they see someone picking on someone who's in no place to fight back, you can bet they will not hesitate to put that person in their place. They may seem tireless and unsinkable, but when they fail to meet their own standards, they often need to temporarily withdraw from their endeavor in order to regroup.
INTJ: They value free will fiercely, but they aren't stubborn. If they learn the value of something they previously resisted, they can do a complete 180. Because of their tendency to analyze things for extended periods of time, this is something that can happen quite often. They are more aesthetically oriented than other Thinking types, and they are often quite whimsical (though they may not always express it). While they can appear cold, they can usually be quickly defrosted by a cause or by something they relate to. They tend to be quite compassionate towards people and things that are misunderstood, urging others to look beyond their biases and at the facts and circumstances. While they are very independent in their thoughts, they usually don't mind (and can sometimes prefer) to assist and be assisted, due to their keen sense of where they and others fall short.
ENFJ: They tend to suffer from a poorer self-image than most ExxJs. While their perpetual concern for others may look like the picture of responsibility, it can also be a means for them to avoid dealing with their own problems. This hyper-altruistic tendency coupled with a weaker Sensing function can lead to an ENFJ's life falling into severe disarray, and because of their Fe image-focus, they tend to be very good at hiding it. They are quite prone to vices - contrary to the Goody Two Shoes picture painted of them by most MBTI profiles.
INFJ: While their NF righteousness usually compels them to be open and honest, they can be surprisingly artful and manipulative due to their knack for knowing what people want (and don't want) to hear. They are masters at keeping their friends close and their enemies closer. While many INFJs are spiritual people, their aptitude for coming to conclusions with little to no evidence does not come from any sort of mystical source, but rather their constant unconscious analysis of small details that most others don't notice at all and which they themselves have difficulty pinning down specifically. They are the most cerebral of all the Feeling types.
ENFP: They may be extraverts, but they are often not outgoing because their Fi compels them not to over-extend themselves emotionally. Their extraversion manifests more in exploration of various interests and gathering information from outside the self, interpreting it in terms of the connections between different pieces of information. While they almost always have unconventional senses of humor, they are not necessarily "goofballs" - they take their moral causes, values, and social relationships very seriously and one can readily observe this intensity any time these topics are brought to the ENFP's attention.
INFP: Often regarded as frivolous daydreamers, they can be shockingly practical, readily seeing the value of using time and resources wisely. They often have no time for things they see as irrelevant to their causes, projects, or values. In a society where ExxJ behavior is seen as the norm, this might look like someone acting "too cool for school". In reality, the INFP is as busy as they are. The only difference is that the source of motivation is intrinsic, and the projects are usually personal. They are also not as pleasant as most sites paint them as. Many INFPs are harshly judgmental towards people and things they see as transgressing against their values. Though they may not always speak up about it, they will frequently shun those who don't meet their standards without a second thought or a closer examination.
ESTP: Contrary to popular belief, they do value book-smarts and often enjoy conversing with Rational types. They may not grasp the concepts as easily (nor apply them as responsibly), but they find philosophical topics stimulating - another piece of equipment on life's big playground. While they are naturally persuasive people, they are often disinterested in the corporate and political spheres where they could potentially thrive - ladder-climbing within organizations doesn't appeal to them (in fact, many ESTPs cringe at the very idea). Because of this, they often do not pursue these career tracks despite their high level of potential for success in them.
ISTP: They are usually much more caring than most profiles give them credit for. They have a deeply fraternal nature about them and they often use their trouble-shooting skills and practicality to give advice and assistance to their friends. While typically independent and solitary in the pursuit of their hobbies, they are usually not aloof in social situations and they have a knack for observational humor.
ESFP: Out of all the Feeling types, ESFPs often have the most difficulty dealing with emotions, whether their own or those of others. They are not good at giving advice or confronting their own emotional issues - this is because of their tendency to minimize problems. Their Feeling side manifests more in their genuineness. You typically won't find them deliberately playing games with others' feelings or pretending to be someone they're not in order to be liked - their natural confidence is usually enough for them to win friends and influence people.
ISFP: They're not snobs or hipsters. Well, not necessarily. They know what they like, full stop. Whether their tastes are considered refined or eclectic by the rest of the world varies from ISFP to ISFP. They're not that shy - many an ISFP is possessed of an SP-typical brazen sense of humor and they love to talk at length about their interests. They are also not as prone to spring at new opportunities or experiences as other SP types - "I don't know, it doesn't sound like something I'd like" is a phrase commonly uttered by ISFPs.
