Big decision

I'm moving to my favorite city. I have been thinking this over for a year at least and the desire is so strong and so intense that I need to just follow through and go for it. I am leaving California for Vegas.

Hey everyone! I hope the summer is treating you right. Sadly I have not been to Vegas all summer but I hope to go before October is over which is usually when the weather starts to change here. Vegas Shaped Heart

I have a Vegas shaped heart. I absolutely love Las Vegas and I absolutely think about it 24/7. Over the past year and a half that I have been organizing my Girls-Go-To-Vegas meetup.com group, a love and desire for event planning and the nightlife industry has sprung within me. Last year around this time I briefly took a stab at my first time being a nightclub promoter here in Orange County, California. Now that my love for night life has exploded I have decided to give it another try. I love going out and having a great time and getting dressed and ready to impress. Creating memories is what life is all about and I have decided, why not pursue it as a career.

I have been eyeing a degree program at a local university which is the business administration degree with a concentration in entertainment and tourism management. I am 34 years old and I’m finally coming across the degree that suits me that I wish I discovered sooner. I currently work in an office administration role which has been my career for the past 12 years. And not so much within a particular industry or field. I have worked for nonprofit companies, law firms, a photography studio, private, publicly owned and government entities and I just feel that I have come to the end of my road with working in this capacity.

I am aching for the right change for my life and ready to live out loud and be that party starter professional in the role of a promoter, events planner and VIP host. As an entertainer/performer it’s also a great avenue for me and I just feel like whether I’m on stage or not I need to be involved with entertainment and cresting an atmosphere that allows people to escape their daily routine.

So I have been pounding the pavement as I always do when I’m job hunting and I have been submitting myself to opportunities. I have been up-and-down as many job listings online as I can and back around again just in case a new one popped up within the past day or so. But what really set the ball rolling after the seed had been planted via planning Vegas trips for my Vegas group, it wasn’t until I spoke with the VIP host when trying to plan a recent VIP trip with our group that sadly fell through. I honestly had no idea how bottle service works or that there was even such a thing as a VIP host. I just never really gave it any thought. And after speaking to a couple VIP hosts I was opened up to a whole new world. I came across videos showing how these VIP hosts go out and have a great time with their clients and how they build relationships with venues to coordinate bottle service packages. Customer service is my background and I provide the upmost in customer service so why not bring my customer service skills to the nightlife world.

I reconnected with the nightlife promotions company that I worked with last year and they welcomed me back to their family. And I have a phone interview tomorrow with a VIP servicing company that specializes in Vegas nightlife. I feel like I’m going to burst at the seams. You know that feeling you get when you’re just about to break through something? I have been riddled with that anxiety, that excitement, for the past two weeks and I’m going absolutely crazy and I can’t wait to just get out there and start promoting and find that I actually really am going to be successful at this.

When I reached out to my nightlife manager and told him that I felt like I gave up too soon last year he agreed and he said that I have what it takes. I have the charisma I have the energy for the night life in his opinion. I think I just needed that confirmation; the affirmation if you will. Changing careers is nerve-racking. So I guess I needed to hear that.

I share this with you here because I’m pretty confident that my phone interview is going to go well tomorrow and this will benefit all of you viewers of my blog when you’re planning your next Vegas trip. So I can’t wait to move forward and bring you the best.

Vegas from a resident's perspective. People tell me I should move to Vegas. Aside from not wanting to take it for granted, I like the fact that I can see the stars here in OC and even Disneyland fireworks at night and drive to the beach. I love Vegas, but I don't need to live there. Though I would spend a week there.
