Greek Life
When you come to college, it is very likely that many of your peers will be going Greek. Greek life, especially here at Purdue, is a very large organization and very popular. Although many people who first come to college dislike the idea of Greek life, it is often just ignorance. Frats are often publicized to be terrible places because one thing will happen that is really bad and everyone assumes all Greek life is like that. The fact of the matter is that incidents where frats are publicized as bad things do not happen very often but when they do they are made a big deal. Much more often than not, Greek life is actually helping society by raising tons of money across the nation, raising millions of dollars for charitable causes. Another common misconception is that if you were to join Greek life, you would become an alcoholic and essentially ruin your life. Even though drinking is very common in frats and sororities, it is always a choice and you don’t have to participate. What many people don’t realize is that Greek life is a recipe for success in the business world. Nearly 3 out of every 4 fortune 500 company owners came from Greek life. Greek life is an incredible opportunity for networking and will almost definitely help you in the work force in later years.
