I had a dream last night that I was at a Hatsune Miku concert. She was singing and doing normal concert things. All of a sudden Kasane Teto joins the concert and shows up on the stage next to Miku. Miku starts yelling some swears and pulls a knife from nowhere and starts stabbing Teto. After a couple minutes of stabbing Miku looks directly at me and says "I know who you are," plus my full legal name, and then I woke up.

This scares me.

Some thoughts on Soul in Hollow Knight.

It's clear that Soul is powerful. It can morph into strong spells and give a bug unimaginable power, but it seems to be a high risk high reward type of power. That or you have to know how to use it correctly.

Weavers take Soul from other bugs to turn into Silk, that's why attacking enemies gives you Silk in Silksong. But the Weavers aren't actually storing the Soul anywhere, right? It's always on spools, and the only time Soul actually interacts with Hornet's body is extracting it from herself, as seen with the Silk Hearts. But she can't take too much from herself, and that's why she can only passively recover a little bit.

Soul seems to have some dangerous side effects from taking in too much, as seen in the Soul Sanctum and Groal the Great. Soul Master and Groal seemingly consumed heavy amounts of it all at once, and that's why their bodies are inflated like that. Taking too much at a time either does that or melts you.

The Snail Shamans have been working with Soul for a very long time. They probably understand the dangers and keep themselves safe by not consuming too much at a time. They also seem to be able to freely take it from their own bodies like seen in the Silk and Soul quest.

The only reason the Knight never suffers any of these consequences is because they're Void. Black threaded enemies in Silksong will deplete your Silk Meter if they hit you, meaning Void simply overrides Soul. Since the Knight is made of Void, any dangerous excess Soul is simply erased. Though maybe Void can also merge with Soul in general if you think of the Void Spells in the original game.

These are just my thoughts on it and I figured I'd share.

I headcanon that beast crest Hornet basically acts like your average housecat. Running marathons around the High Halls at midnight. Laying on Shakra's maps while she's trying to write. Tearing up the walls of the Choral Chambers. Purring. Shakra was slightly concerned when Hornet dropped a dead Aknid at her feet and expected praise for it.

so the person who gives you the way to get into the Forgotten Man's room in Chapter 3 seems to suggest "Nowhere" is, just that. forgotten.

Kris might be trying to (or at least think they're heading towards) the same fate as the Forgotten Man.

they might think that as things are right now (Toriel has Sans, Susie has Noelle) everyone in their life would be happier if they didn't know they ever existed; after all, they wouldn't know there was anyone to miss.

not to commit crimes against innocently divulged cat facts (but it is technically in the game...) but it'd kind of be like that, right?

If Kris dies, the people that loved them will miss them. even if they just disappear, those people will look for them, the self-blame will get passed around... If they get Forgotten, those people will continue on without having to worry about them at all.
