Suguru loathes the way you look at him.

Every time you recoil when he reaches out to touch you is bad enough, but now that fucking face on your face never leaves and haunts him even when you're not present together in the same room. He recognizes that face. The deadness and lack of luster in your brilliant eyes. The scowl threatening to curl into a little snarl in warning each time he saunters toward you or brushes past you. The way you always look like you have a chip on your shoulder, or shiver each time he so much as glances your way.

He can't fucking stand it.

Obviously, it's his fault. He can't expect you to love him the same, even if he can tell you don't necessarily hate him and never could, given your history. But you are the only person alive who can ever bring him down on his knees, and beg for anything else, because this isn't what he worked so damn hard for, just for you to express nothing but resentment and disdain.

And you have every right to.

But he hates it. He hates it so much. He's doing this-- all of this-- for a reason, and you're one of those reasons. So you don't have to live in a world like this in fear, and people like you or him or Satoru or any other sorcerer have to be used as tools for those who won't even know what they sacrifice for them?

How can he declare himself or his plans a potential success, if he is the very thing you are frightened of now?
