About the Mun under the cut!
The fade is a tricky place - Chapter one
Quick summery: The 4 heros of the land get yanked into the fade with the people they have strong connections to and they all must deal with fade fuckery bringing them through different parts of each others minds and memories.
Masterlist - Next
Waking up to a staff crackling with magic was not what Fenris wanted to do. It was especially concerning when the person who was holding the staff looked oddly familiar. "Hawke?" he said, looking up at her with a frown as he reached up to try and move the staff only for it to press more firmly into his throat as a threat. The elf went still, looking at the woman like she had two heads before he really was able to actually take her in.
She was... younger. Her hair was longer and pulled back into a tie at the nape of her neck. She didn't have the same scars and marks from both battles and age. He frowned looking up at the woman who very clearly did not recognize him in this moment.
"You know my family name obviously" she said, the magic curling around the staff more and he looked over the stick, surprised to see the staff that she had hanging up in her home in Kirkwell in her hands now. Her fathers staff was one she used when she came here because hers was damaged with the blight, so he'd never actually seen her use it before. "who are you and why am I here?" she said, bits of electricity beginning to charge around her hands.
"I am just as lost as you are, Marian" he shot back, letting his own body glow as he grabbed the staff again and pushed it off himself before he sat up. She had moved his sword away from him, well behind her. Smart. At least he knew she still had battle sense even however many years she had lost. "I am not here to harm you. I was yanked into this same as- are we in the fucking fade?" he said, looking around now and actually taking in where they were. Well no wonder they were being fucked with mentally. "Hawke, I don't know WHY were here or what its doing but I am not your enemy" Fenris said as he stood up and dusted himself off as he took in what was all around them.
"You aren't some demon?" she challenged, hands still holding her staff ready to blast him if need be.
He couldn't help but laugh at that and look her over again. She was young sure but not to young. He knew she never needed to go through the harrowing because she wasn't a circle mage, so he wondered how much she really knew about mages in the fade at this point. She knew enough when he meet her. She never once faltered in all their adventures together to tell demons no to the deals they tried to strike with her. He was aware her father had trained her and her sister very well. "What manner of demon would you think I am? A knife ear?" he challenged, his eyebrow raised as he crossed his arms and looked her down.
"Well I was going to say desire but now I'm thinking pride" she said back with the signature smirk that made his breathe catch.
Oh she was still Hawke for sure. That didn't just come from her time in Kirkwell clearly. This came from her pure and simple. "Desire?" he said with his own teasing tone. "good to know you have always been a flirt. How old are you right now?"
".... You- Im 20" she said, frowning as she watched him.
20, so a good few years before the blight that brought her to Kirkwell then. Her father was still living. Her brother, her sister, her mother. Her family was happy and together with their dog. None the wiser to the hell that would come upon them because their eldest couldn't keep from being helpful OR nosey.
"You and I meet when you are about...24 I think?" Fenris said, trying to remember how old she was when they meet, after shed been working in Kirkwell for a year to pay off getting into the city. "You helped me take back my freedom" he admitted, his eyes soft. They were still figuring things out in his most recent memories Though he wondered if he was even the most current of himself with this happening. He had walked away from her once, and had vowed not to do it again. Now he just needed to prove himself with that.
"I... I did? Why would I do that?" she asked, slowly lowering her staff and looking at him with frowned brows. Oh even here she looked so much more... angelic? Pure? It was strange. She was no child. But compared to the champion of Kirkwell she had become, this form of her was so much softer and more gentle.
"Because I needed you." Fenris said, walking over to pick up his discarded sword and got it settled onto his back before he looked at her. "And now... I think you need me. Something brought you back to before you began what you are fated to do and we need to find out what. Im not letting you go off and do this all alone." he said, motioning her forward. She paused, looking him over before something seemed to assure her he wouldn't hurt her and she nodded, following him farther into the fade to try and find answers.
Confession: Cullen mumbling the Chant of Light while fucking the inquisitor so he doesn't come too quickly, but holy shit, who knew how smutty the Chant really is if you think about it? You agree
What are they betting on? 😳🤭

"Star?" Alistair said, floored by who stood before him. The woman he loved. The woman who got away. The one he couldn't forget.
Looking like the day they meet. The day he first got taken in by the rare beauty in the blight.
"do... I know you?" She asked, frowning at him.
Oh what kind of demon was the fade throwing at him here....
-----
"stop stop stop-" Cullen caught the foot aimed at his face before he managed to get the girl's arms down as well. He was breathless at this point as he looked at her- and maker she couldn't have been more then 14. Her hair was short and wild and her jaw set in an angry way. He didn't think it was actually the Inquisitor if it wasn't for the tattoo on her face that she'd been marked with by her circle.
"get off me Templar scum!" She snapped, rearing back to kick him again but Cullen was quick to grab her knee as it came up
"stop it. Please. I'm not going to hurt you. I promise"
--------
*she's so feisty* Spites voice was an unwelcomed part to the situation Lucanis was in
He had a poison dipped blade coming at him in serious strikes. Song was a little younger- probably right before she was sent away from the crows- her hair black instead of blue and clearly did not recognize him.
And he did not need Spite being pleased she had so much attitude.
WIP
"you aren't Fenis" Hawke scoffed, looking at the imposter before her. Demons tried a lot of tricks in the fade but this was by far the most hallariusly bad.
"... Well no I'm Leto" The elf said, looking at her just as confused.
"see that's how I know this is bullshit. He rejected that name" Hawke said, arms crossed.
"such a beautiful woman with a mouth on her" the elf teased with an easy smile.
Oh yeah
For sure not her favorite broody elf
WIP
"you can trust me" she gasped, hand around the hand holding her throat. Deep blue eyes looked up into golden brown, trying to plead with this Cullen.
"I could never trust a mage!' Cullen snapped and Elv was reminded of the fact that he'd once told her he didn't know if he would have cared for her once.
"you can" she said, voice squeaking when he tightened his grasp, not letting her move off the floor any. She reached up with shaky hands to undo the top of her shirt, ignoring the look of disgust on his face, before she pulled out the coin on the necklace.
Everything froze when he looked at it before he let her go and reached into his pocket, pulling out the same coin "how do you-"
"future you" she gasped out as she coughed, trying to regulate her breathing. She was curled into a kinda half circle, her hand touching her sensitive throat "you gave it to me in hopes the luck would keep me safe" she said, looking at him, seeing his whole world truth being challenged by what she was telling him
WIP:
"What do you mean Hawke left on another mission without-" Fenris closed his mouth. He saw the amused look starting in Isabellas eyes and he wasn't about to give her the satisfaction.
He didn't know when it really started but Hawke had been bringing him on less and less of her adventures.
Recently he'd noticed it had been about a month since he last actually went out with the group.
"well Fenris, let's look at the facts shall we" the pirate said, fingers beginning to lift as she spoke "You constantly dig at mages, of witch she is. You think mages should be locked away, meaning you think SHE should be locked away. You think the only good mage is a dead or tranquil mage- and how do you think Hawke should feel about any of that? Like she thinks you will truely have her back if it comes down to it? That you would try to help her instead of jumping to kill her if a demon tried to take her over?" She sighed and then tutted at him, patting his cheek much to his dismay "honey how the hell is she supposed to trust someone who talks like putting a knife in her back would do the world a service?"
That bothered him. Deeply. Hawke was never a face that came to mind when he said these things. She wasn't for one second who he pictured when he thought of his hatred for magic as a whole.
But what had she said that day she came to talk to him the same day Isabella did? That she was a mage, as a counter to him pointing out he was a escaped slave and an elf? He sighed as he began making his way to the hanging man, hopping he'd find out an idea of when she would be back.
He didn't know what about this hurt worse
The fact she apparently had begun to distrust him enough to not want him on her missions or that she trusted Anders more because he was always going with her.
