The Black City was an ancient, hopeless place, smothered in primordial Blight and derelict from neglect and age, and now it was Solas' eternal home. A prison of his design, in which he was now an inmate. But he wasn't without company - Rook was still here, propped up against a wall in the immediate aftermath of their scrimmage, one hand cupped over the weeping wound on his side. It would kill him without magical intervention. Given their location, that might have been a mercy.
So Solas healed him.
In the quiet of the Black City, Rook and Solas' enmity for each other wanes over time.

Rook didn’t think about them much. He was a beta, after all, like most elves, and he had no inclination to learn about that part of his ancestry beyond what the Circle had taught him.
Maybe if he had, he would have been prepared for the events that transpired a few months into his conflict with the remaining Evanuris.
Well after the age most elves would present, Rook discovers he's an omega.

Solas had sharp canines. Not so sharp that they could pass as fangs, but they had a slight point to them that most other people didn’t have. It was hard not to notice when he was digging them into you, leaving a vivid red mark that wouldn’t linger beyond the Fade, but that stung and throbbed in the moment. He seemed to like doing it on the softest parts of Rook most: his pecs, his belly, his thighs, like a wolf seeking the softest meat to feast on.
Before the final battle, Rook and Solas find a moment to indulge in each other.

So there's gossip about some version of kinktober over on twitter adding a bunch of nonsensical rules this year, and I am fascinated. Studying this like a bug.

A/N: So! This fic is sort of an extended version of Discordant. Or it takes the general idea of the fic, anyway. There are soft moments, but fair warning, it's a pretty sad fic.

The Rules:
1. This is an event meant to celebrate the Rook and Solas ship and the community behind it. Even though the main focus of the event are Rook and Solas, other Dreadrook adjacent ships like Solrooklassan, Solrookvellan, etc. are allowed. Show us your polycules! Other ships may be mentioned, but in respect of the spirit of the event, do not forget that Rook and Solas must be central to your work.
2. Pick your prompt(s)! There are two prompts, general or NSFW for each day of the month. You may select or combine if you so desire.
3. All works should be new or posted for the first time after the event begins.
4. We do not condone use of generative AI in any way, shape or form. We want to see your creativity!
5. Make a Dreadrook inspired creation based on your choice(s). All mediums - art, fic, vids, gifs, game photography, mood boards, collages, edits - are welcome. Create what you love to create! You may submit multiple works (ex: one for each day) or combine them as you see fit. In case of combining prompts from different days, pick one prompt day to post your work!

7. All fanfiction should be added to event collection on AO3, which will be open for submissions starting on October 1 st.
