Grand Reopening!

Hello again! After several weeks of anticipation, we’re pleased to announce that the restructuring of the server is complete!   We appreciate your patience, and kind words/enthusiasm.  We are excited to announce that we are now accepting applications,

The Reapers are a fairly new team. Established in 2016, they’ve been slowly making their way up leaderboards and pro scene standings. They have yet to win Nationals, but their tenacity and commitment to growth and improvement have kept them in a lot of people's sights. 

No team is without their headlines though! Coach Harrison Marks signed on with the team only last year, and is determined to see them through their first victory. He promises fresh faces and highly skilled players through his vigorous, yet out of the ordinary recruiting practices. Red tape only allows him to go so far, although we believe things would be vastly different if that wasn’t the case. 

Don’t let that dissuade you! Both the Reapers and Coach Marks have high regard for each other, and are considered a fantastic teamwork based unit. They have been sighted many times enjoying activities as a whole team. They seem in good spirits, and are confident they will go far.

The Reno Corsairs are not news, although they tend to be in the actual news a lot. Their leaderboard standings go up and down throughout the years, and seeming luck, or just general player skill, dictates what their position will be. They have a few National Championships under their belt to show off, while equally being kicked out of needed end of season scores to make it as well. It’s a surprise to anyone (maybe including them?) what their game and season will be like each year. This never stops them from going all out on the court, though. Fierce, technical, and high-risk plays are what this team provides; they enjoy showing off with daring and tricky moves, while making sure the other team knows who they are fighting.

Although they tend to work well on court, no one has seen them hanging out after hours. Maybe this season will change that? Maybe some new recruits are what it takes to bring the team together off court.

The Spartans are virtually a household name among Exy enthusiasts. As one of the top professional Exy teams in the nation, the hype surrounding this team is both justified and well deserved. The team was briefly embroiled in controversy in late 2017, due to Santiago Valerio's unconventional recruitment policies. The Spartans are notorious for being selective. Their recruitment/signing ratio is significantly lower than any other team on either coast.

The Spartans are known for their ferocity and precision on court. While they stick within the realms of solid technical style, they are also lauded for their crowd pleasing, flashy play style. On court, they are unapologetically relentless. They study the weaknesses of their opponents, and exploit them, wearing them down with almost unsettling ease.

Even so, they are consistently applauded for their sportsmanship and gracious conduct on court and in the press. Santiago (affectionately called Santiago, or Saint Valerio by his team,) is typically considered a tough coach. He expects the best performance from his team. However, under his stern outward demeanor is an easy smile and easygoing nature that few outside of the Spartans ever see.

The Spartans are a social, tight-knit group, and can often be found splintering off into the city after hours.

Events & Highlights

Pardon Our Dust, Pt. II -  Hello again!  We want to apologize for the radio silence recently. 2020 has been A Year for many of us, and the admin team of Exy Days is no exception.   Rest assured, though. we’re still here, and eager to share some exciting news!  Beginning January 3rd, 2021, Exy Days will be temporarily closed to the public.  We will not be accepting or reviewing applications during this time.  After several months of careful consideration, the admin team has determined that a reboot is in the server’s best interest.  We will be moving away from a college setting, and will, instead, focus on pro-Exy careers.  

Moving forward, members will have the option of choosing between two teams (to start.) Can’t decide? Feel free to create an OC for both!  As we move closer to our grand re-opening, more information about the teams, their history, new dice/game/reputation system mechanics, and more will be unveiled, so keep a close eye on our Tumblr for these updates!  We ask for patience as we make this transition.  Please note that we will be revamping our application, wiping the server, and redesigning our Tumblr to reflect this new beginning.  Feel free to shoot us an ask if you have trouble navigating the  Tumblr during these next few weeks. We hope you’re as excited about this new chapter as we are, and we hope you’ll join us! 

Just Hear Those Sleigh Bells Jingling - Exy Days is pleased to announce our second annual Secret Santa!  As with last year, this is a voluntary OOC event. Members had the option of signing up for the Secret Santa gift exchange through  December 4th, 2020.  Gifts will be exchanged anonymously, and each Secret Santa is free to reveal themselves to their assignee at midnight on December 25th. 

Book Club -  Early this October, the admin team introduced a new feature: book club!   As the name suggests, members nominate and vote for a book title they’re interested in reading for the month. The winning nominee will be group read and discussed. The purpose of this feature was to encourage our members to connect on an out of character basis, and to share and explore new fandoms outside of AFTG.   We offer a mix of genres to choose from and vote on per month.

2020 Final Activity Check -  In preparation of the reboot taking place in January, our third and final activity check of the year will take place on December 15th.  It will run through December 21st. Any inactive members will be removed for inactivity as of December 22nd, 2020.

Hello! I, uh, recently reread the books after a while and, I wanted to ask how is the server? I mean, I am mostly anxious of joining a new server and all... and I wanted to ask about the server's atmosphere mostly :'0 Sorry to bother but the plot and characters look and sound so amazing!!

Our contest winner!

Our mini re-read of The Foxhole Court contest has come to a close. We asked our members to read through the first book and then choose a character to review/retell the events of the book from their perspective! A fun little contest to remind us all why we picked up the books in the first place.

hi, i’ve been trying to decide whether or not to send an application, and i just wanted to ask, how do you all roleplay out games? because i can’t really imagine it, haha — sorry if this has been explained before

Hey anon!  As a reminder, for the time being, we’re waiving the application process through Jan 7th of 2021!  We’d be thrilled if you’d join us! 

To answer your question, we use a combination of a unique dice system to determine successful actions in game. If you roll higher than the GM, you “pass” that action. That leaves the player free to a.) briefly roleplay their success or failure on court, or b.) allow the GM to briefly describe it, depending on your preference. 

So essentially, your dice roll determines whether you successfully kick ass or not!  It’s still paragraph form rp either way; it’s just that your paragraph is written in response to how well (or poorly!) you roll.

Fall 2020 Open Recruitment!

As fall approaches, the admin team is pleased to announce that we’ve once again made the decision to temporarily waive the application process. (We’ve noticed it seems to be a deterrent for many of you; we’re looking into potentially revamping the application itself, in order to encourage an easier/more seamless process for joining the server.)

For a limited time, we will be suspending our traditional pre-screening through the Google Form.  Beginning September 5th,  anyone 18+ can join our server directly through the invite link.   There are a few caveats, for the sake of our members, and the amount of work that goes into running an active sever.  For more information, please read the following: 

I. Members must be 18 or older.  As we announced in June of this year, we recently made the change from 16+ to 18.+ This is, in part, because most of our members are college age or older, and as a result, we tend to explore more mature themes. You are free to discuss your boundaries and preferences rp wise with the admin team, as well as your respective scene partners. We want to foster an inclusive, welcoming space, and rest assured, any concerns you may have will be listened to and addressed. 

II. We are not a revolving door.  What we mean by this is that we’re looking for active roleplayers/writers who are eager to contribute to the storyline and growth of the server.  If you join us, please be prepared to commit to at least 1-2 months of rp. If, after that point,  you decide we’re not what you’re looking for, no hard feelings!   We just want to make sure that any loose ends are wrapped up plot wise, so you don’t leave your scene partners in a lurch. 

III. Ask questions!  We’re a close knit community, and sometimes, joining new severs/new rp groups can be overwhelming.  However, we all share one thing in common: we love the series, and we’re always happy to make friends!  If you have questions about the server, feel free to contact either Kit, Rei, or Queenie. We’re happy to help get you settled!  And if we’re not around, our awesome members are more than happy to help.

September’s nomination for Character of the Month goes to Catalina Guerrera, played by Shay! (Artwork is credited to Shay as well.)

Catalina would never say that exy is her favorite thing in life. Back in Houston, Texas, she was practically forced into playing the sport. She used to complain to her four brothers about wanting to quit, but honestly deep down she ended up growing to actually enjoy the sport. Nowadays, she’s going to school in colorado on an exy scholarship. Since she grew up around a bunch of judgmental sarcastic borderline grade A-holes, she’s made it her personal mission to be as nice as can be, even when other people make it hard. So far she’s managed to stick with the program, but who knows what can happen.
